    In the first video I was really amazed by how you heated up the rusted bolts from the exhaust for just a second and they came right off. Useful to know for the future when I encounter such bolts.

    Never seen anyone put in a new transmission they bought. Around here we have a very good, popular transmission shop. They can tear that tranny out, rebuild it inside top to bottom to almost bullet proof. Then, put it back in and drive it out of the shop in around 4 hours or so. Dudes are good. Last tranny I had rebuilt they put a shift kit in it so it hit a bit hard but it was totally rebuilt with everything, all the way. Even moved the trans lines off of the radiator into a separate cooler out front for me to keep it running cooler (never saw it over 190 until heavy towing my RV, but averaged around 180 or so normally. And if you felt your oats and punched the accelerator on wet pavement it would rock those tires every shift...lol. That's about all these guys do, though, so they know how to rebuild one right. Of course, they had specialty tools either bought or made to do the job...transmissions were all they did and still do. Glad I didn't have to do it. Last one I pulled was the one I destroyed in my parent's van in 1984...turbo 350. Learned my lesson on flooring it and shifting it into gear..lol. Typical teenager. Destructive until I was made to repair what I destroyed. Taught me one thing major though...take care of your autos and don't be a d*ck. Take care.

    I should be commenting more. Hi Mr.O and family. I’m from Missouri. Have always worked on my own cars keeping them going over the years. I have been following and watching for about 5 years now. Have learned so so much from watching you. From simple procedure to inspiring me to want to learn more about electrical diagnostic. Very entertaining to watch you work. Natural teacher. I wish I was your customer!!!! Wishing your family good health and fortune. Can’t wait to see the next rust bucket!

    Every time you say "push, push, push" I think of the Twilight episode and the boss yelling push, push, push Williams. I use lines from tv shows all the time. People usually just give me a funny look when I do it.

    At the dealership I’m at we have a hydraulic table you hook the air hose up to it and lift it right up to the motor or tranny or both usually you gotta stick a couple blocks on it to balance it but it makes life easier to move it around

    As you probably know there's a little gasket on that aux oil cooler block off. They all leak but it's only a $5 part to fix it up. Nice video!

    I did this job on my 99 Suburban in my driveway. One problen was the truck wasn't high enough to get the bell housing out from underneath. Plus - I rebuilt the tranny myself. Sun gear busted- no reverse.

    Many many years ago i did a tranny in a chevy with the SB 350 and on the install I failed to get the wiring harness that use to run along the back of the engine block out of the way and pinched it in the bell housing and cracked the case, was a learning experience as I had to, with no experience, transfer all the internals from the cracked case to a new case, was 16 or 17 so this was back in the mid 80's, doesn't look a whole lot different after all these years.

    Eric, I know that you know what you are doing but a lot people (DIY'ers) can completely screw up when it comes to torque converter/pump spacing. I've seen a lot of tranny pumps wiped out from the converter hub being spaced too far in (bottoming out inside the pump body) or too far out (barely grabbing the pump gear lugs). Can't wait to see the finale!

    • @bradensmith888
      @bradensmith888 ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you mean by torque converter spacing? It is not adjustable, correct?

    For a second there I was thinking you were trying to make it sound hard to do.
    Most of us know the hardest part of this is when you go to start the engine and expect it to work and it doesn't! They forgot to put the linkage on inside or one of the check balls got overlooked inside.

  • @chestervaldes7551
    @chestervaldes7551 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Jjust wondering if you checked converter/flywheel end-play. Precision Transmission (I'm sure you know who I mean) puts a lot of stock in checking and correcting this to improve converter/pump drive engagement.
