It's not the color of the fluid that is the issue, it's that sticky gray garbage in the pan and on the magnets. It's essentially metal residue suspended in fluid, and the more you have, the worse the transmission degradation. The problem with these transmission is that they are a paradox, to maintain them, you need to drive at lower RPMs, some say like a "grandma", but that puts more strain on your engine, so you are essentially driving to maintain the engine or the transmission.
You are over complicating it. Driving at 2k rpm is not gonna strain your engine or transmission. Its mostly city stop and go traffic that effects your engine mkre.
@ Low RPM driving CAN strain your engine, mainly due to stress on the pistons, I didn't say it strains your transmission. Now, CVT transmissions WILL perform poorly and fail at higher RPM loads over the long-term. Saying that, if I had a CVT, I would maintain lower RPM driving whenever possible, mainly because piston engine failure usually occurs at a higher mileage than a CVT under repeated, increased load. However, engine oil and coolant should be maintained and changed often, perhaps more than what is recommended by the manufacturer, as it's more common to burn oil in these conditions.
@MaximillionBucks this service is only meant to be done in this fashion. That's like crying about the oil plug being behind the cross member in ford products.
