I think that you're amazing teacher and I love taking classes with you.Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

    I like the way you use examples from literature to explain the ideas, I think that many nouns in grammar can be used as verbs to facilitate language and communication even in French.

    I am a foriegn learner and sometimes I'm thinking how it is possible that native speakers are so different in speaking. I mean that for example when I listen to Christian I understand everything without any difficulty while there are people who are speaking in the way I'm struggling to recognize the words. What are the factors which are causing it - maybe shortcuts, speed of the speaking or something different. Hmmm

    • @ЕвгенийКлепиков-р6ь
      @ЕвгенийКлепиков-р6ь 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      You just need to spend more time listening to normal English speech. It'll take time though to be able to understand native speakers.

    • @ЕвгенийКлепиков-р6ь
      @ЕвгенийКлепиков-р6ь 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Christian speaks very slowly cuz he makes his content for non-native speakers. He uses simple words to make it easier for learners to understand what he's saying

    • @manerk8270
      @manerk8270 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ЕвгенийКлепиков-р6ь Yes, You are right. Native speakers also frequently don't say full words or they are linking words together (for example "i gotcha", "cuz" instead of because etc.)

    The problem is exactly this: sucessful comunication. When speaking English, I always feel that I am not succesfully comunicating my thoughts because of my poor English. I fell I am telling lies, not saying what I really think but what I know how to say. And I am not a lier!

      Is not about that is the right o wrong it just exists, but to be clear and people understand perfectly each other we have to follow some rules to be accurate but he is talking about the essence of to convey messages and receive them, for example you can say "she do" or It don't have sense " its structural grammar " is not correct" but you can understand and that is the main idea.

    Gracias Christian siempre por tus aportes ricos en sentido, profundas reflexiones que quedan resonando. Intento encontrar la manera de enseñar inglés sin ser una repetidora de reglas porque he crecido con una madre norteamericana y hablando inglés y no sé cómo, pero sé las " tres columnas" de los verbos!! Una manera intuyo de enseñar, que sería ideal, es que no hubiera traducción de por medio, sino meros puentes, lazos, conecciones... As I know you speak Spanish, and may be you find it nice to read directly from Spanish first... I deeply appreciate your videos since you bring up reflections, thoughts or even put ourselves to doubt ... I think walking on a pavement of English is ever rocks moving and moving! Like no sure explanation for every exception hahaha

    Brilliant as always. You routinely crystalize what I've tried to communicate in my English teaching and language learning for years. I would like to point out all of the mistakes in the comments section, where I think your point is perfectly illustrated. Despite the mistakes, I understand all the posts. A bit of advice I give students is: If you really are concerned about textbook grammar, and some ideal of "perfection", please use spell and grammar check any time you communicate with me. They rarely do! Curious to know your thoughts on that. :) I actually discovered you from a student.

    I love your unique way of looking at languages. It is a leading way and not a mere copying way. I am curious to hearing from you about the idea of creating a common global language- something like Esperanto. A constructed language with the easiest grammar possible. While Esperanto is an admirable constructed language but the main criticism about it is being a very Eurocentric language. At the moment there are almost 120 official languages worldwide and I am wondering how nice would it be to construct a language with only 600 word-roots - borrowing only 5 words from each of these 120 languages. Memorising these 600 roots will not be so hard. Then the new words must only be created with combining these roots with 120 affixes. This means that even for memorising new words you would not need to put too much effort as you would already know the new word’s parts. In my proposal language there will not be any synonym for a word as well as any unpredictable antonym. All antonyms only will be created with adding an affix like ‘un’ for example. The number of words must be as limited as possible. (Something about 5000 words for daily conversations) There will not be any gender, verb conjugation, ending case and even prepositions in this language. I hope you make a video about this idea.

    in my opinion, it’s similar with the combine between Spanish and English, for example, in my country many people use that combination when they are talking with other people that speak English very well, here an exampel: Vamos al party, porque los vecinos are very fanny, they are create a new way to communicate between them.

    I got the meaning of grammar only after I begun speaking English.. 😁 , but, simple grammar helps a lot to start understanding via translation. btw to create new words or new meanings in a language you have to know how natives prefer to do that, in other case nobody would accept and use your new word etc. Thanks a lot🖐

    For FU , I've asked ChatGPT 3.5:
    Here are the sentences with explanations of the grammatical mistakes:
    "To be or not be, that is the question." - William Shakespeare, Hamlet
    Mistake: "To be or not be"
    Correction: "To be or not to be"
    Explanation: The correct phrase includes the infinitive form "to be" both times to maintain parallel structure.
    "I have a dream where all people is judged by their character, not their color of skin." - Martin Luther King Jr., "I Have a Dream" speech
    Mistake: "people is" and "color of skin"
    Correction: "people are" and "color of their skin"
    Explanation: "People" is a plural noun, so the verb should be "are." Also, "their color of skin" should be "the color of their skin" for correct possessive structure.
    "The only thing we has to fear is fear itself." - Franklin D. Roosevelt, First Inaugural Address
    Mistake: "we has"
    Correction: "we have"
    Explanation: "We" is a plural subject and should be followed by the plural verb "have."
    "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can doing for your country." - John F. Kennedy, Inaugural Address
    Mistake: "can doing"
    Correction: "can do"
    Explanation: After the modal verb "can," the base form of the verb "do" should be used instead of the present participle "doing."
    "In the beginning, God created the heaven and earths." - The Bible, Genesis 1:1
    Mistake: "heaven and earths"
    Correction: "heavens and the earth"
    Explanation: The original text uses "heavens" in the plural and "earth" in the singular.

    The whole point of the meme is to be grammatically wrong. That's why it sounds cute and funny. It gives the vibe that your ability to communicate is being reduced to what a sleepy cat would be able to say.
    To make such a meme presupposes an understanding of what an English speaking audience uses as standard; as correct. The deviation from that is the result of wit and skill, not ignorance and randomness - although the unintentional and the random can be interpreted as funny.
    That being said, I agree with the mentality of understanding mistakes as a necessary part of the process of language learning.

    I'm really surprised to hear things like that. To make it short, we ought to teach and learn gibberish because "language is a changing thing and there is (and should be) nobody to tell you how you must speak". This is a dead-end approach in a long run for anyone who wants to be understood in a more or less serious context.
    Even the example with the book proves it. There's no point of 600 pages which most people will never be able to understand. It's just a cipher that has no value.

    07:56 _Even for people with only a basic level of English, the meaning of the meme is clear._ Not for me. I looked up the words “human”, “adult” and “cat“ in Wiktionary and found that they all can be verbs. I understand that the last sentence of the meme means “I'm apt to act in a cat-like manner.” However, the word “cat” has so many meanings that I cannot choose the right definition without context. To me, the meme is open to interpretation.
