I'm from Ukraine, I'm 54, and I have been living in Ireland from October 2022. I started to study English in 1979, in primary school, in Soviet Union. I knew nothing in English after finished school. Then, in my life, I started learning English several times (5-7) with the same results. Only when I came to Ireland it has moved from the dead point. Thanks a lot for your and your colleagues for the good learning materials!!!!
For the first time I could understand 100% a video in english. I was thinking to myself: how is this possible? I think the reason was the speed of your speech. You don't speak very fast and your speech is clear. I think that's why I understood everything.
Basically, there are no people with natural-born talent, there are people who love what they do and who spent a lot of time mastering a particular skill, the only barrier is your mindset.
Grammar is not necessary to fall in love, enough if you can speak, but grammar is necessary to the ability of reading if you had received divorce letter.
Hi Christian! I couldn't resist watching this video as I had a feeling you'd be taking fluency in another direction. As a fellow English teaching colleague, I find your approach so refreshing. Even here on TH-cam, I emphasize fostering community, helping people feel relaxed and open to improving, and try to avoid false promises. In the end, I believe anyone can become fluent if you're willing to put in the work and take action - that's how I became fluent in Spanish even after years of "knowing" what I needed to do. I also find the emphasis on "fluency secrets" quite frustrating - all of my discussions of fluency center around identifying your needs and goals. While I don't think selling courses is a bad thing - all education receives funding from somewhere - they are not THE answer, they are simply ONE answer. Thank you for being a voice of reason and wisdom for your community and setting high standards for our teaching community as well.
Hi Kim! Thanks so much for your comment, it really means a lot to me. I'm only interested in the truth, and because I personally have nothing to sell it frees me to be able to speak my mind. However, I agree 100% that selling courses is not necessarily a bad thing, and the real enemy is false promises! Let's work together to call them out when we see them! Thanks so much for your support!
Hello Christian. I'm very happy to learn English with your class. I'am 50 years old and I think is more difficult to learn a new lenguage when your are not young, but is not impossible. I'm enjoying while I learn my new lenguage as you told us. This is my challenge. Thanks for yours advices.

This video is really what I needed. As someone living in a french speaking country and having issues with stuttering, I understand that the most important to be fluent is to practice a lot, like Gary Kasparov in chess. I'm determined to do so, every single day whatever it takes. Thank you
I love the theory of the ‘affective filter’ when learning a second language. When I went to school, I couldn’t stand learning French and had no passion with the language but when I was introduced to Korean, I found my passion. Language is a passion and an art. I enjoy learning the constructs of Korean grammar but I love enjoy communicating with my Korean friends but focus less on grammar. I’m a firm believer in interaction to develop confidence in language production and comprehensible input to aid language acquisition. Thanks Christian for the great video.
I want to say that I subscribed your channel about 3 years ago. I haven't watched lot of your video but every single video I watched are high-quality. You are the best English teacher I have ever known in my life. Thank you for everything ❤️
I really like your idea about language learning. I can't stop watching your videos, and they all give me a lot of courage and confidence to speak fluent English. Thank Christian!!!
I'm so glad I found your channel! You're a very good teacher because you don't teach - you help to learn! Everybody can talk about rules, grammatical structures and so on but not everybody can give real tips and recommendations for learning languages. Thanks a lot for your videos!
I am learning by myself completely alone English from teachers of different countries and each one have different insights and methodologies. But.... Everything you said is 100% truth. I am learning in fact because I am studying everyday more and more practicing everyday a little, two or three times a day and from different countries and pronunciations and methodologies. Your English accent is perfect and my preference.. Thank for your class. I will study it as much as possible.

Your title suggests a video for language students, but it's arguably more useful for teachers. As a teacher I'm inspired by your videos. As always it's great to see your passion and desire to connect.

One of the best videos about language learning that I've watched here on TH-cam. It was really helpful, because most of people who are obsessed about learning a language just want someone to tell them that they will get it easily, without much effort. The type of people who seek for this kind of information are mostly lazy ones. And it's hard to find guys like you around here, because people don't want to hear the truth. There is no way to learn something without practice, effort and investing time. And the most important: YOU MUST ENJOY WHAT YOU ARE DOING! (Sorry for my bad English).

Dear Chris. I'm Cassia, from Brazil. I can feel your dedication and emotion for teaching your native language for us ! And then we are motivated by learning too! I don't study English at school , only by myself, in order to speak with people from others countries, because I want to travel as soon as possible. Thank you very much, and God bless you! See you in the class!
Thank you so much. It is life time to learn any language. When it is part of life, more joy and fun rather than suffering. Totally agree with you that learning language is the very much like learning chess. Practice it ! Use it ! And learn from mistakes.
Hi Christian! I "met" you in Juan Luis' video a few moments ago and I'm writing in to say "congratulations and thank you" for telling it as it is. I've been learning Spanish for a few years now but still lack the fluency. So I need to practice, practice, practice. Thank you again, and do keep safe! Un abrazo fuerte desde Manila, Filipinas! :)

Eu gosto muito de assistir teus videos, porque teu ingles é muito claro, além de pegar dicas, eu também pratico muito "listening" com seus videos. Thanks a lot Christian ^^
I should have learned english at school about 40 years ago. I wished I have had these kind of videos in this times. To speak the truth, I learned nothing at school, but on a four month trip through south east Asia. My girlfriend and I would have died without english, so we started to use it in a natuaral way, not thinking about grammar and mistakes. In principle, I thought that I had nothing to do with learning languages and have devoted myself more to technology and natural sciences. Now, 40 years later, and with the help of great TH-cam channels like this one here, I came back to language learning. I started learning italian with the natuaral approach (metodo naturale) and it's just fun and 10 times faster than the old method of separated grammar and vocabulary learning and works even for old geezers like me 😅.
I learn English as my favourite hobby. I have beed doing so for several years, everyday, all year round. Enjoyment is the best ingredient of the recipe that will lead you to the knowledge of English. I am a self taught. I succeded. Thank you very much, Christian.
Hello Christian! I have been desperatly surfing among youtube English teaching Channels for ages looking for a methode that will suits my learning process. So, I went through many systems of teaching and many visions but I still have missed something . By discrovering your channel today, I found out a new approch that makes me think positive and see the English language from another side. the thing is, there is some sort of Coaching in the way you are transmitting knowledge for both Learners and even teachers with positive vibs and honesty in my opinion. so, just keep going this way, you are on the right track !
Speaking English you are better than Gasparov but playing chess I don't know! I'm sorry great teacher. You are really great as a teacher and very funny. I like the way you comunicate with your studants.
Hi Christian, I´m Brazilian and I have been studying English since 2016 by myself. No matter what the difficult what I have, but I learn e improve everyday. Amazing your channel!
I am from Brazil, I´m on the way of improve my english, i´m loving this channel, you´re amazing! I´ve been learning so much with you, things that I already have intution about and you brougt light to me. You´re professional and honest, Thank you so much Christian, God Bless you!
@@keyboardwarrior.2741 To me, saying "I'm good at English" implies that you are talking about a school subject. "I'm good in English" or "My English is good" talks about your abilities in the language itself.
It's efinitely true. Let me tell you something. I'm a Spanish speaker and I have been learning English. And then I moved to Brazil I've been about a couple of years and I kept learning English there as well, of course, paying. Now I figure out that I can speak Portuguese but I didn't pay anything whilst I keep learning English.....so, I am on the wrong path I think. Cheers! that's was a motivational one man.

Yes, you need to learn about your grandma to become fluent in English. No one is able to become fluent in English without studying the life of their grandmas. 😅
i have listened to millions of videos talking how to improve your english and honestly this is the first time i have listening to something really useful not just as many advise i have heard. (your ways to make the idea and subject understanding for listers are so so talented and smart )thanks keep doing the hard work i'm a big fan now😊
I love this journey to obtain , get , acquired this beautiful idiom , day after day enjoyed the process whose are amazing , in my way a lotta years ago , I had the opportunity to read and understand english language , every book or when a had time took a newspapers like the daily news , cause I had been worked in the airport of Newark in New Jersey , 15 years pass my job partners all of them speaking fluency , but nobody had the ability of read and understand , !!! Most of them are native speakers , and now I'm live in Bolivia , for my obtain fluency is a BIg goal , I am lawyer in my country , but miss those years , and my advice is NEVER GIVE UP !!! Practice all the time with happiness , with confidence ....
I really like what you say about learning grammar in a communicative way since that's the way I learned my english. The problem I face today is that it's hard for me to put the rules into words. For example, if someone shows something they wrote to me and I see a mistake in the structure of a sentence, I can surely point it out, and I can correct it. But I can't actually explain why. They ask about it and I say "That's just the way it is".
hi, I'm eternal beginner, my level is A2, but i have never seen a web teacher, who speaks so clearly as you.I understood almost everything. Wow!!! Usually after 15 second stopped to watching others English teachers, because i could understand nothing. You gave me a big motivation to study more. You' re great:) You will my teacher:) Greetings from Poland e obviously like and sub :P)
Christian, I'm an Independent English Language Trainer in France and felt the need to let you know that your channel is the best I have found yet. I have 15 years of experience, yet I'm still learning (as are we all) and I have learnt a lot from your videos. Your channel is the first I will recommend to my students; the way you 'clip' your words while not speaking too slowly is perfect, the content is fantastic.... Anyway, just wanted to say 'keep up the good work' and thanks. Have a good day.
Fluency doesn't mean to speak fast, but it's what that we can let our thought or ideas flow out without stopping through suitable and intelligent words and right to the topic we are talking about. like you are great! You are, honestly, not so fast in speaking, but the words you are letting them flow out are accurate, thoughtful, intelligent and precise! Great! You are kind of a linguist!
Muchas gracias por estos vídeos. La verdad es con los primeros que he podido comprender un vídeo completamente en inglés, a la vez que aprendo concesos y demás de los que habla

I must confess that this video is the most motivating one I have ever watched. Your ideas which are pertaining to learning English must be widely disseminated all across the world
Dear Christian I think the best process it´s when we use our emotions so we can speak spontaneously, for example:why do we learn swearing in any language?Think about it mate...Cos´we use our emotions, now imagine you are speaking spanish but not swear words, but real feelings, sensations concerning to the survival mode, that´s the way you´ll connect ur very idiosyncracy and empirical ´´self´´!Your channel is second to none on the whole u tube!Great job!
One of the best lesson anyone can teach, not only suitable for english students, but for all the people trying to accomplish something. Excellent piece of advice. Well done Christian

You are the best teacher in Europe. Best regards from Brazil.
"Grandma will not give you a fluency". I always knew it, always... Thanks.

How to get fluent in English.
Step one: Correct video to "How to become fluent in English"
It's not in English it's at English.
@@keyboardwarrior.2741 To me, saying "I'm good at English" implies that you are talking about a school subject. "I'm good in English" or "My English is good" talks about your abilities in the language itself.

I'm just fuckin around mate.
you are the best teacher on youtube ! I use all the tips and they help me! Thanks for your great diction!
For a moment I thought he was saying grandma rule. I thought I have missed a rule in English all these years.🤪🤪🤪🤪
It's efinitely true.
It's me or just I heard clearly "grandma" instead "grammar"
It’s his accent he’s British. The brits drop the r sound at the end of words if there isn’t a vowel. Sister becomes sistah. Grammar becomes grammah. You tell with practice and context.
You are not alone
Yes, you need to learn about your grandma to become fluent in English. No one is able to become fluent in English without studying the life of their grandmas. 😅

"Hi im Christian" Me: "Hi i'm atheist"
I really like what you say about learning grammar in a communicative way since that's the way I learned my english. The problem I face today is that it's hard for me to put the rules into words.
For example, if someone shows something they wrote to me and I see a mistake in the structure of a sentence, I can surely point it out, and I can correct it. But I can't actually explain why. They ask about it and I say "That's just the way it is".
There is no words to say how much I thank you :) finally man who explain in scientifically how to learn and said true about "english teachers".
hi,
I'm eternal beginner, my level is A2, but i have never seen a web teacher, who speaks so clearly as you.I understood almost everything.
You are a great teacher, I learnt how to teach from this video.
You are perfect in your explain. I'm lower intermediate, but I understend 70% what you are speaking. It's loveley. I don't know where are you from, but if all teacher go as you I'm sure everyone learns Englsih fluently quickly. Congratulations!
I must confess that this video is the most motivating one I have ever watched. Your ideas which are pertaining to learning English must be widely disseminated all across the world
You’re the best TEACHER EVERRRR!!!!👏👏👏👏
Dear Christian I think the best process it´s when we use our emotions so we can speak spontaneously, for example:why do we learn swearing in any language?Think about it mate...Cos´we use our emotions, now imagine you are speaking spanish but not swear words, but real feelings, sensations concerning to the survival mode, that´s the way you´ll connect ur very idiosyncracy and empirical ´´self´´!Your channel is second to none on the whole u tube!Great job!
It was brilliant.❤ Thank you for your amazing tips 😊
One of the best lesson anyone can teach, not only suitable for english students, but for all the people trying to accomplish something. Excellent piece of advice. Well done Christian
