After one year of learning german language, it was the exact moment that I needed to see this video. I had tears in my eyes at the end of the video. Thank you💚
I have been learning German for a while because I have heard Chistian when he said languages are for connecting people and I want to explore the german´s culture. So I decided to improve my English skills to learn German because my mother tongue is spanish. And it is easier to understand German with a previous knowledge of English than spanish.
I feel that way from 10 years ago, I have been thinking that I'm completely stuck at intermediate level, and I read, write, hear, and speak in English all the time I can do with a family with two kids and 49 years, but I feel that it's not enough. Your words made me really releaved. Thanks
The Measure of your English lies withing yourself. Intermediate is just a label, nothing more than that. We better not pay too much attention to it and enjoy the process. Always Cangaroo Academy. Miss you family
Thank you so much Christian for your way of teaching, for your kindness and humanity. You give us the motivation of keep learning, because learning is a beatiful joy in the way you teach.
Within human beings specie there are teachers, mechanics, engineers, musicians, electricians, etc., who add slangs, numbers, sub-numbers, notes, cables, pieces, completely unnecessary or of rare use, just to feel superior and create ghettos of wisdom. Fortunately there are people with a big heart and empathy who care about nurturing to others with basic, simple but elemental survival tools. So them can understand and interact with the surprises along the way. This man is a worthy example of the second ones. The generosity of his words and pronunciation is so clear tool that it can surely be understood and moved anywhere on the planet. Thanks Christian.🙏
I entered to watch this video because I noticed this phenomenon with all 4 languages I can speak including my mother language. But I didn't notice only with just vocabulary, I noticed this with progression in eloquence. Your video is useful, but I think that best way to continue progressing is to interact with a language by art and literature by reading more of these, and by increasing the philosophical understanding of these, and by having your own style and to be able to criticise yourself without bias.
As an advanced learner, I suggest also learning the history of a word so that you can have a faster way to remember them. Language is not an exact science. It is engineered by people and refined by scholars, and used by people again. Learning that history will make you own that word.
Hello Chistian for your words I am in a moment that I feel myself sinking low as cat Stevens said in his song: "I might die tonight", but I realize that understand all your video without subtitles is a gift. This is Albert from Buenos Aires
Be patient guys, this video is our way to escape the plateau. Watch the whole video and understand every word he says because of that now I really know where is my problem. Thank you professor.
I'm so happy Canguro English is posting new videos. Mr Christian is the best teacher I know. I've been learning so much. Thank you for helping us with your great and unique teaching.
I am a native speaker of English. This is a motivational and technically excellent account of the intermediate language plateau. It helps me because I am in the intermediate plateau in Mandarin. Some native speakers know exactly what language learners are going through, because we are doing it too! Let’s share our experiences - in my case, in English or Mandarin.
I know a saying:"How many languages you know, that many times you are a human". Obtaining the ability to understand another language demands up to obtain another personality, another mindset and enrich us.
"Remember that the only important measure of language ability is successful communication." That's absolutely true!! This's your second video that I watched in a row. I'm happy that I came across this amazing channel.
Great motivational thoughts! Encouraging learners to USE their knowledge is the best thing a teacher can do. This way they will improve effortlessly. I have been a learner for forty years and still enjoy English classes. Using the language leads us to learn new vocabulary, grammar and improve communication skills. There will always be something to discover and grasp in this process. I could not agree more: Enjoy your English! 😃
Whenever I would like to meet you in real life. I see that everybody had tears in their eyes after watching your video. You revealed the mystery of learning English. You're just great person. Assalamu alaikum from Uzbekistan dear teacher
Hola Christian, tengo 65 años, casi siempre estudie inglés solo, y puedo entender casi todos tus videos. Te agradezco mucho tus palabras, muchas veces quiero abandonar.
you bring tears to my eyes and i appreciate what you have done for language learners. For those who are learning english, i wish you have peace in your learning journey.
Christian, the best day of the week is always that one when there is a new lesson from YOU. You are the most inspiring English teacher in the world. After having watched a lesson like this, I am always so full of power to learn. Thank YOU so much for each and every of your lessons.
I blamed myself because I thought the wrong was with me. Although I study and memorize words everyday. I forgot everything. I have met friends from around the world and I have a great ability to communicate with them. They always say "Jojo your english has improved" but I can't feel that. I'm crying now because your words hit my heart very well. I'm sorry to myself, because she always does her best🥺❤️ I'm sorry Jojo because I doubt your ability to speak and pass that exam.
There is nothing wrong with you... so many learners feel that way. Focus on how nice that communication is with your international friends and you'll keep improving along the way. ♥️
This guy is a super genius, He knows what English learners needed, he is the only hope in the world of teaching English, He is one side and all the other English teachers are on another side, his teaching methods are phenomenal.
Cristian, I was learning English with your channel four years ago. Then, I stopped doing this, and now I have started to continue learning. You have grown a lot in these four years. I want to say that your way of teaching and describing language is very original. I cannot remember someone who is able to do it like this. Thank you for your creation
Yesterday, I almost cried as my company assessed my language and said that my pronounication and grammar is not up to the mark. I learn everyday but I have anxity communicating with foriegners and that's fine. I dream to achieve more, connect with the global world, so I am happy, encouraged and elightened by your inspiring words. Thank you Chritian I am enough and I am trying hard to learn, earn and even use the language being a second language learner.
I was taught English at school, for 6 years, but only 45 minutes a week and by a non native speaker. Academically I was on top: an A. But it was purely formal English. And I think with using an expression like " up to be mark" I would have been better then my teacher. So, 😊without knowing you: you're doing great. Go on and don't feel disencouraged. Greetings from Germany.
Thank you Christian, I'm an self-taught english scholar and I think that the language is simpler and more beautiful to learn with a very good teacher like you.
I started to watch your videos a month ago and I'm very glad to have found your channel, every video is a masterclass about language, learning, life, and motivation. I'm in that Plateau right now, but this makes me remember that it is not bad to be there, and that my efforts always will be worth it as long as I can enjoy and discover the world from my second language :). Thank you. I have been watching canguro English since the very beginning and for me the main reason is this chanel give me positive emotions and encourage me being highly motivated when I feel that my skills processing slowly
Super useful video about setting expectations. Makes sense that my vocabulary increased dramatically in college when I started reading several hours a day and listening to hours of lectures on the materials using those specific vocabulary words found in the materials I had read. I tell adult students aiming for the top of the pyramid in English learning that doing a degree in some subject, with it being taught only in English, should get you to the treasured C1/C2 level, though if you have self discipline you could just read a lot, take notes and discuss your readings with an online tutor. Then afterwards come up with a thesis statement based on your discussion and write an essay on it for your tutor to review. Very few people are willing to do this in my experience though. Most students just want to get to a level where they are understood and not stressed when they speak English.
I agree 100% with you. I always say to my friends that we are learning english to speak with the people all over the world, when we go on hollidays or we must go to one meeting abroud our borders, and not always to speak with a english native man or woman exiting of the tube. It's nice to speak with native people, but is very difficult to meet english people in Greece, or in Italy. So, is better to improve our english in order to communicate with people all over the world, and no only with people living in Ireland, Australia, Canada and so on. I was working in an hotel in London when I was young, and now, when decades are passed, I have the feeling that I have been all my life in the Intermediate Plateau. I've loved very much your speech. You are a very good teacher, and, like I've read in an another message, a very good Philosopher, or Phychologist. Thank you very-very much !!

Yeah, stuck in that level like forever. Thanks for the humble and kind explanation. ❤
What is such a wise, an interesting and an uplifting video! Thank you very much!
You’re right, sir. Initially, I learned only grammar. Now I still struggle with writing and reading a lot.
I felt worried and sad. Thanks a lot for your honesty.
