Is it possible that not eating for long periods can cause a high reading. I am just curious. I am not diabetic but keeping an eye on my levels. I excerise regularly , am vegan on a fairly low carb diet as in no bread pies pastries sweets choc etc and do intermittent fasting but bit annoyed when my morning finger prick is around the 6 mark every day after 14 or 15 hour fast.

      Hi Belinda
I wouldn’t place too much emphasis on one finger result - not would I test particularly - unless the results coming in like well into the teens or 20s.
Glucose levels ebb and flow through the day so a baseline reading will be anywhere between kind of 3.5-11 throughout the day depending on what you’re doing and if you’ve eaten. But 6 is perfectly normal even without eating
If you’re concerned, get a HbA1c test. That’ll soon tell you all you need to know 👌🏻
