    Hey Sarah! You are doing such a great job, it’s so much to learn and figure out. Before I was on the pump, I changed taking my Lantus to the morning instead of before bed, and that helped with my overnight lows. Maybe ask your nurse about trying that?? 👍🏼

      thank you! i’m currently taking lantus in the morning, but thank you for the suggestion!

    Sarah - stay strong younger sister. I got diagnosed at 56 with TID. Ended up in ICU for 4 days in Coma. Am doing a great and am still learning like you. My honeymoon ended last year. I rock out on my night snack. My favourite time. AIC been under 7 since I started my treatment and using 2 insulins. Lantus and Aphidra. Walks help because they get your blood pumping to get the insulin in your system.

    Sarah - You are positive. Don't beat yourself up. TID chooses you, you do not choose it. You are a smart woman, and will enjoy this.... My grandfather was one of the first in Newfoundland to get insulin and Banting gave him the shot. My grandfather was a norwegian who was diagnosed in Newfoundland in the late 1920s at about your age. It will all start to make better sense with your body and insulin. Everybody is different. STAY STRONG.

      Muna - so was I. But happy to report highest AIC at 6.5 since I was diagnosed 3 yrs ago at 56. I just follow my diet. Food is fuel in my mind at this point. Hope you are doing well. Let me know if I can offer any assistance or comfort. It is a daily mental event for sure.

    Great update Sarah! I'm also about to try Fiasp, so I'm glad to hear you're liking it. Wondering if you are doing full units or if you were able to get a half-unit pen? I'm trying to track one down for myself. Also on the Lantus note, I was also on a higher dose just after diagnoses but dropped myself down to 2 units. So a very low dose. Try something like Almond butter before bed, that works for me. Also, look into "The Juice box" podcast. It's really good. Hope to connect on insta one day soon. Take care, honeymooning buddy :)

      my pen only does full units. a half-unit pen seems really great! i’d like to try that as well
      and thanks, i’ll try those things out!
      feel free to message me on instagram whenever! i’m @_sarahpriscilla right now, but i’m probably gonna change it back to @sarahpriscilla_ once instagram lets me haha

    Hi Sara !!
    congrats on your new A1c you did a great job dropping from 15.1 to 7.9 you are on a great path.
    concerning your nocturne hypoglycemia I can guarantee you that it's not from using to much insulin (because I had that for many years) it's from lantus having a peak at night my suggestion to you is to split the doses do less at night and do the rest after you wake up or buy a more stable insulin that has no peak like tresiba .
    and since you are following a plant base diet I would recommend you to watch mastering diabetes channel, they teach people how to manage diabetes by following a low fat plant base diet. they have a book since you love books
    I hope this will help you :)

      right now i do all my long insulin in the morning, but i have talked to my nurse about switching to tresiba before so i might do that soon
      and i’ve seen them around! i’ll have to check them out again, thanks :)

    Mastering Diabetes book, it just came out, or their website for information, everything they talk is based on science :)
    Also (my English is bad but....), like you, I remember when I first was diagnosed 7.5 years ago I was not aware first few months what happened because I was 12 yo...then I started reading about food a lot, found few accounts on Insta etc. and today I am actually grateful for diabetes because I started to exercise a few years ago and eating healthy and last year in June I went 100% plant-based and who knows where I would be without diabetes.

    • @sarahpriscilla_
      @sarahpriscilla_  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i’ll definitely go check out that book!
      and yeah, it’s crazy how diabetes can make you so much more mindful
      there’s a lot of things now that i’m aware of that i wasn’t at all before

    You could start experimenting with protein shakes/ peanut butter on a hard carb to prevent lows! I have no clue if it would work for you but it could be worth a try! :)

    • @sarahpriscilla_
      @sarahpriscilla_  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that’s a good idea! i’ve never thought about protein shakes
