  • The track Jeep and the TJ-6 are gone, and Chevy Blazer has arrived. This ‪@Chevrolet‬ Blazer was built by ‪@MotorTrendWatch‬ Peterson Four Wheel and Off Road magazine for the 2017 Ultimate adventure, which it completed with zero issues. So it's a VERY well built and capable rig that should do everything I need it to do. The only change I need to make is a switch to selectable lockers, and to put a ‪@harborfreight‬ Apex winch on it.
I took the Blazer and the ‪@SeriousTrucks‬ up to ‪@406garage3‬ to tell Ben the story of the founder of ‪@zackliftinternational4841‬ and how he used to be the International Harvester dealer for his area of Washington

Hey Casey, I gotta thank you. You mentioned Consolidated Towing in a previous video, said they were a good crew with a lot of trucks. Using that as a recommendation, they got me off the highway after my wheel bearing disintegrated. They did a great job, so thank you for being a good guy and not bashing a competitor.

I have to admit, as a multiple Jeep owner and enthusiast, I am sad to see the Jeeps go. However, that Monster of a rig you replaced it with? DANG!! Even I can't deny that is a beast! That thing was overbuilt in so many ways, you would be crazy to not have made that purchase. Sad to see the Jeeps go, but if you have to replace it with something, That is maybe the ONE single vehicle I can't argue with. Good work! What a find! (p.s. you TOTALLY have to do the jeep grille)

(I also owned a Mazda Protege 323, but, that was a slap upside the head, so we won't go there) I wouldn't be offended for a SECOND to put a Jeep emblem on this truck because I can appreciate how much you love your Jeeps.

When you showed us the rear seat of the TJ, the thought came to mind that Riley is growing, and eventually the small rear seat wouldn't be room enough for her. You've taken care of that, the space for Rusty, and space for gear all in one very well laid out vehicle. Yes, Jeeps are a thing, but as you so clearly showed, being able to have the family with you and enjoy being out and about is even more of a thing. Super nice looking setup, Casey, so I can't wait to see some videos of you out with the girls enjoying family time with friends. One question - are you going to put a receiver in the rear bumper, or with the super strong points that it was built with, is this even a concern?

In the 60's my future father-in-law worked on the State road crew for the Santiam Pass. He lived in a small RV for a week, going home for two days and back again. I wonder what the winter road crews are doing today with no snow to keep removed. There is a very good chance I followed his snow plow coming from Bend in 1965 after delivering a new (2 miles, no snow tires) Comet to Bend and driving the tradein back to Portland rather than the solid ice from Government Camp to Bend. This year will be horrible for water in the summer months, but driving over the hill several times has been a blessing.

Speaking of Utility Trailer, back in the mid 70s the company I worked for bought a new Dodge box van conversion. The conversation was done by Utility. The box supports as fabricated failed and the box started to settle and warp the floor. I took pictures and sent them to Utility not really expecting much in return. After a very short time we were notified by Utility to take the rig to our local truck body company and they, Utility, worked with the local company to reconstruct the mounting system. No problems after that. It's not that "things happen", it's what happens after that, that define the company!

I've had a few of my "dream" vehicles in my life. Let's see: a '50 Ford F1; a '64 Plymouth Sport Fury - the street version of the car Richard Petty tore up NASCAR that year with - a '59 Karmaan Ghia; a 2002 Mini Cooper; a '67 Harley Shovelhead that I built; a '68 Pontiac GTO. The Goat wasn't in all that great a condition; it had been rode hard and put away wet, but I can always say I owned it, as well as the others. Neither was the '50 Ford. They were drive-able, though.
I owned them, sold or traded them, and probably would not ever buy another one. I'm glad I had the experience. I would repurchase any of them again, were I able to relive my life. Age is a factor in why I wouldn't buy them again, in the present.
Some of them I didn't know were my dream cars until I actually owned them, but others, I always wanted one. I always wanted a GTO, and later, I just had to have a Mini. Same with the Ghia, though I wasn't specifically looking for a '59.
I like the Blazer, as-built, though. Very cool vehicle. Can't wait to see what Mr. Contrarian does with it.

Hey! I remember reading all the magazine installments about this Blazer and was excited to see each new one when this was a new build. Still back and forth about putting together a similar thing for myself.

Having been in a jeep ZJ for many years, and progressing to a gmt800 suburban, I can absolutely agree to a lot of the points mentioned. With a growing family, the jeep just simply did not, and couldnt hope to, have the space I needed for regular traveling, let alone any distance or offroading trips.
I have had the same bitter sweet sad moment of saying goodbye to the jeep world, and regretting moving over to the chevy/gm world. But I don't know if I could ever go back, unless i'm only doing solo trips. The space to have a few people with me, plus all the gear and more.. it is very much worth it. I'm excited to see where this goes!
Also, like mentioned many times over... WOW that is one insanely overbuilt and very strong double cage set up. I can't say I've ever seen something that thoroughly constructed.

The Blazer is awesome. Can’t wait to see it on tracks. Forget that lift gate prop rod. Just clamp a vice grip on one of those blown out lifters. Much smaller, way more secure. Thanks for the video, Casey!

Is it a matter of missing gas in the lifter or can they be re-furbished? Seems to be a better way to go rather than the prop rod. 🙂

I absolutely love Blazers. My '99 isn't decked out by any means, but she is still super capable in bad weather and pretty good offroad even on stock height/wheels. On my bucket list is to take the frame and body of one of these and build the rest from the ground-up to make a rig, and I think seeing that beast in the magazine was one of the reasons I got that in my head to do so. Glad to see her in good hands!

I'm really sad about you selling the track jeep and the TJ but to everything there is a season. This new rig is the beginning of a new season for you. As much as I'll miss the other rigs I'm excited to see what adventures find you in the new rig. Praying for safe, exciting adventures in your new "toy". GOD bless

My snowmobile club has a TJ on tracks with Lincoln lockers. It’s does really well pulling a drag but she does not like to turn. Def second the selectable lockers.

Think that's quite the upgrade! Always was surprised you had the tracks on a jeep with a front 35. And you are totally right on cost to build vs buy something built.

Ok, I have been weary of flat towing my XJ. Video ideas: why can you flat tow a 231 vs other transfer case equipped vehicles . Thanks for your video Casey.

Hi Casey, I knew I had missed a point the first time I watched this video, Detroit lockers drive the loaded wheel, so the thing you don't like is the inner wheel taking over the power when you turn, when you understand that you modulate your power to allow this, PS, out of all the types of locker, they are by far the most reliable, but what would I know I've only been in heavy equipment and recovery 45 years

    Hi Casey,
as an FYI, the Yokohama is the exact same tire as the Falken MT but less in cost. I used to run the Yoko MTs and they are amazing, just a little noisy. Not too bad, but, I just wanted a quieter tire. If you get more MTs, check out the Yokos .
    Cheers,
    Mike

So sad to see the jeeps go. Watching the trax jeep in the snow was awesome. Made me wish I had one and the snow to go with it. I do understand about the space issue. It is why I have yet to own a Wrangler. The Liberty may be 21 years old but has the space I need. The double cage is also a plus, safety for your passengers is a must. Cant wait to see your off road adventures.....when the snow comrs!

Hey Casey, at least Ben's roll back led lights are NOT set to random mode.
I personally believe led light bars are fine set to a single flash setting.
I do agree that they are you distracting when in random flash mode.

Get Strongarm lift gate struts. Part of the issues is not only are they clapped but they also work less and less the colder it is.

No offense, Casey, but why do you have such a clean off-road rig? Maybe just my perception, but seems to me, your offroaders are usually dirty, but you're very busy working/rescuing that things are bound to get dirty.
But seriously, I love what you do, how you do your thing your way. That's why I watch your video's, because your you. Thanks for the explanation as to why you got rid of your dream Jeep. Makes perfect sense now.
    Keep on being you Sir!
