The technology of the wing aside, this is such a smoooooth line these guys chose to ride. It easily takes your brain on trip. I like the fact there's not a single motion in the entire video out of sync with the flow of the terrain. Well done by the pilots who prepared so well!

Awesome flight Beni! Do you think that this line can be flown with other canopies outside of Moustache? To me it looks like a Moustache only line...

scaring livestock and not respecting rules of distance. while this flight is cool to watch, pilots like this are the reason why our sport will be regulated even more. respect others…

I'm just getting into paragliding, got my ground handling down while I've been saving for the class...my question is , how long until I can fly one of those a d what rating is required? THIS is the direction I wish to go with my flying👍

    • @patrickswayze2596
      @patrickswayze2596 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Bro!,, I was flying frequently for a few years before I even started.
The level of active flying needed to control your glider is constant, and rewatch the video and solely focus on his hands.
The constant input to not only control your wing bit to instinctively feel what the wing is telling you is so crucial to FULLY understand and respect because at those speeds (especially proxy flying) there are many variables and almost ZERO chance for failure or mistake.
Don’t rush bud, the sport ain’t going anywhere and remember this important lesson I will never forget...
      - two hours on the ground (GH) is worth two in the sky.
So basically for me personally after 12 years of multiple flying disciplines I STILL GH any chance I get, because 12 years I’m still only learning still myself yo.
Stick with it and just have fun mate 👊🏼

I had the same doubt in my mind the first months while I was waiting for my paragliding class to start.
It depends on what you mean with “fly one of these”..
if you mean like the pilot in the video, many, many, many years..
If you mean to fly smaller speedwings proximity, the answer is of course very individual, but depending on your skills, improvements and time you invest in flying and training, it can be much earlier.
In my case, after 1 year of intense paragliding (starting from zero) i flyed a 11m speedwing. Even if it was a bit rushed, I started flying good proximity.
Now i fly a 13m speedwing very comfortable after 1,5 years of paragliding.
But it really dipends on how much you fly. 1 flight every weekend will not be enough if this is your goal.
Take your time and don’t rush things, if you’re honest with yourself you will feel it when you’re ready for a smaller wing✌🏼

Brandon Spence, just buy a wing and start ground handling it. Stick to flat ground first, then very small, hazard free open slopes with endless landings and get a feel for it. Take paragliding lessons in the mean time, you will meet people who speedfly through the community and look for guidance there. And don't get discouraged by the nay sayers, the community is rampant with them all drunk and fat sitting around hardly ever flying. Also watch as many tutorials as you can. There is way more honest info in those youtube tutorials than you will find in socially influenced groups of people providing courses. Don't get me wrong, both are very important sources of info but I like one better than the other. A great book is 'Understanding the Sky' and rc slope soaring might also be the greatest thing I have ever done to safely understand flight. Cheers, stay safe. 😁
