    What’s seriously scary about Emma is apart from being fearless & an incredible tennis brain she will get so much stronger & fitter with time- plus her insatiable appetite to win more gran slams.
    Emma, Leylah , Swiatek & Osaka are the new breed of truly outstanding athletes who will be the future for many years to come which is great for the sport.

      I said that because players mostly win in their preferred surface which is good but not enough. Also for us fans we have a preferred surface we’d like to see them win on.
      Swiatek is fine on clay, Osaka is excellent on hard surface. Hopefully Emma can diversify her talent by winning in a surface other than hard court. Then she will be considered bigger than she is right now.
      US open is not the only slam in the world.

      @@divboo2907 totally agree with what you are saying also, I just think because of Emma’s balance , ball striking ability etc she will win on all surfaces , clay may take some time as it’s so different although has been drastically speeded up over the years. Radacanu, Fernandez, Swiatek & Osaka are all fantastic for the game I think.

    Don't let that beautiful smile and friendly personality distract you from the fact that she is an absolute killer on the tennis court. She has that killer instinct like Kobe and Michael Jordan. @@davidnixon4509 ha, that’s what Marion Bartoli said. I’ll admit that Emma is interesting but she hasn’t been around long. Just yesterday all the talk was about Andreescu and it’s true she is insanely gifted when she isn’t injured. Emma will have everyone accustomed to her style of play in the next tournaments. We will see if she has the ability to weather the storm as they are all preparing for her now. So far only Naomi and Barty are multi slam winners of the new crop but youth is on their side so we will see. To outsmart other extremely intelligent players over years isn’t easy. Just ask any multi-slam champ. Emma does seem special, for the moment anyways.

    Well, I've seen most of the interviews and all her main draw matches. Haven't been disappointed yet, have you?
    I really can't fathom how anyone can come that far in just a matter of a few weeks. I believe she was around 335 prior to Wimbledon, now at 22 in world ranking.
    She played some awfully good players in her US Open win and her wins were decisive. She hit the ball with more power and consistency and had better movement.

    • @miketols5420
      @miketols5420 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think if she'd been playing all the tournaments during the lock down like everyone else, I don't think she'd have needed a wild card for Wimbledon or have to do qualifying for the USO, put it that way. I think she'd be way above rank 22 now.
      Her results for the 6 tournaments she did play this year before the USO are pretty good. She got to the 4th round of Wimbledon, then she got to 2 quarterfinals and 1 final. So in 4 of the 6 she did really well considering they were her first ever.

    • @Rick9482
      @Rick9482 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@miketols5420 Yup, I looked up her recent record today and agree with your assessment. She just hit the pro tour with guns blazing.
      Indian Wells should have a great field even if Osaka of Barty don't show up. I believe Barty has already returned to Australia and the last I saw, Osaka is unlikely to attend as she's going through a fragile time right now. I like Naomi but she needs to grow up a bit more.
      When two teenagers can outclass the whole field at the US Open, I'd say a new standard of behavior has been set. Two kids showing maturity, personality and highly competitive tennis.

    • @miketols5420
      @miketols5420 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Rick9482 Oh, Barty isn't attending? That's interesting. If that's the case, I can imagine they'd be desperate to have Emma there.
      Osaka. It's an odd one. It's tough if you're getting no joy from winning. I know there was an odd interview where she said the press should feel privileged to talk to her, which was bloody weird. But she's crying in the interview like it's the end of her world but shows up at the Met Gala like it hadn't taken place. Sponsors to satisfy no doubt.
      On Emma, yeah, like you said, she seemed to go into the tours and enjoy them. Got a few wins under her belt along the way and even had a taste of a final. But then to go from that to what she did in the open is still mind-boggling and remarkable!

    • @Rick9482
      @Rick9482 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@miketols5420 The Barty thing isn't confirmed at all.
      I think Emma winning the Open is making everyone do a rethink about scheduling. Even Fernandez has become a factor because of her important victories at the Open.
      Indian Wells should be interesting with who's there and who's not there.

    • @miketols5420
      @miketols5420 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      She did improve her stamina, but more importantly she got match practice in the 3 weeks before qualifying started. This may be odd to say since she won The US Open, but she's still on a learning curve. However now she'll never have to play qualifying rounds again, those tournaments where she's not automatically qualified by her world ranking, would grant her wildcard entry in a nanosecond.
