As we saw with Laura injuries can change everything. I remember seeing Laura interviewed when she was just a kid. She was about to go against Salena Williams, the fiercest woman player in the world. When asked how she thought she'd do, Laura laughed, clenched her fist and snarled, 'I'm gonna take her down'. I loved her from that moment. We need to see more of her on TV.

No Charlie, it's actually the norm for teenagers to do well in women's tennis. It's been unusual that it hasn't in the last two decades because of the dominance of Serena.
No, that's not it at all. The big difference was the change to luxilon strings in the early 2000s, which has led to topspin becoming a much bigger part of the sport. Fewer flat balls means the strike zone for ground strokes is higher than it used to be. And your back and shoulder muscles don't develop fully until your early 20s. So it is now harder for both men and women to make a major breakthrough in their teens than it used to be, because they cannot hit the ball at that height with the same power that twentysomethings can, at least on average. Serena only won two out of the last twenty four slams, and none of the last eighteen.
Serena was less dominant than Steffi Graf. Add in Venus and the Williams sisters were no more dominant than Graf and Seles. You can look at combinations of two dominant players in each era and there isn't much difference between any of them.
Why doesn’t Laura look like Laura anymore? Laura definitely had the talent and attributes 10 or so years ago to make it big on the circuit but just disappeared with injury
The way these TV hosts all sit so far apart from each other on all of these shows is just insane. Are we really supposed to believe they're not just normally socialising behind the scenes?
Laura was the Emma from 8 years ago but sadly injury after injury derailed her. She was a big talent and just luck not on her side. She’s young enough so maybe doubles is the way to go as I think she’d struggle to get back to really top level singles now - but it would be great if she could.
