@@pillowboy7995 He does have reasons. If you’ve watched the recent joker movie, you’d see what I mean. So his whole purpose of doing what he does is gone. Batman does later come back and causes joker to stop being the good samaritan he was.
@@Aboriginal_American_Hebrew "modern minded women" bruh. Just because women reject you doesn't mean they're corrupted or "modern minded" whatever the hell that means. Maybe women hate you for a reason.....ever think of that?
If superheros were real, this quote would be so accurate. I've seen this movie at a young age back in the early 2000s and i never thought much of this scene. Now as an adult, it's insane that this message was there over all these years and never lost its meaning.
Interesting philosophy, I always though as a kid. In some ways, the Goblin is right. People will find ways to hate another: the ignorance, prejudice, and absolute anger can turn a friend into an enemy. But, despite the darkness, there’s always light ready to break through the dark. Those who stop, fall into the path of the villain. But those who never give up, will transcend into the hero. Life isn’t pretty, I’ve seen it face-to-face. I’ve been betrayed, lied to, beaten, and downright defeated. We have been through dark times, all of us. But there are always heroes who lift you back up. To do more. To be better than those who came before.
i love goblin bc he wanted peter to join him so bad at first , could’ve killed him so many times but didn’t , his return was well deserved , best villain of any hero movie besides doc oc
Willem Dafoe truly outdone himself with this role, he literally brings the Goblin to life. You can feel it in the way he articulate his speech, he's not just acting from a script, he's actually becoming the character.
@@uvl.g5611 I also love how well he portrays Normans emotions towards being the goblin you can feel and hear the pain in his word's the fear that he'll turn back and the pain from the guilt of what he as the goblin has done
Nothing better than watching a hero and villain sit down and discuss their ideals. The villain always makes solid points, enough to silence the hero who can't accept it despite having no counter argument. It makes the viewer wish it could somehow work between them and that neither has to die or go to extreme lengths to watch their vision become reality.
“I could squash you like a bug right now, but I’m offering you a choice. Join me, imagine what we could accomplish together, what we could create. Or we could destroy! Cause the deaths of countless innocents in selfish battle again and again and again until we’re both dead! Is that what you want?”
I also liked the part when the Green Goblin was flying, right before destroying, and probably killing a bunch of innocent people at the gondola lift station; and he's singing, *THE ITSY BITSY SPIDER, WENT UP THE WATER SPOUT, DOWN CAME THE GOBLIN, AND TOOK THE SPIDER OUT!* *HA HA HA HA HA!*
Something I like about this specific dialogue is that, although it's Goblin speaking, it feels like it's Norman talking in how lucid he seems here. Norman knows what it's like to be on Peter's place, which is what got him to fight for more power later in life. Much like Octavius mirrors Peter's life story, all of them could've ended up like Norman if they given into the bad side of the world. Norman tried and failed to be recognized for his sacrifices, Goblin tried and succeeded at gaining what he always wanted, even if by becoming a monster.
Jesus, that's pretty much it. Goblin is like "Bro, drop the superhero act, I know you pay rent and have a busted door, I got a hanging screen on my bedroom window, we all in this together."
I love the way Goblin acknowledges that "despite everything you've done for them" as in he's not like a bad guy for no reason. He's kind of like a villain because he has seen the terribleness of how people will react. Noticing that spiderman has done nothing but help save lives only to be hated by some is actually incredible and I didn't even remember this scene from the movie.
God my absolute favorite thing about comic books is when the hero and the villain sit down and have a nonviolent conversation about their different views
This is so relatable . Being a good guy costs many things , getting ignored other times until they need your help . Spiderman is also right . being a good guy is taking responsibilities that directs you to do still good things . But that does not still hides the truth that when you do the right thing , you became their lovely angel , but when don't for just one time you became their archnemesis demon..
*remembers when people feed spiderman for free or throw stuff at villains to give spidey the upper hand or literally carry him in a train that one time* I think Gobby has a point.
Scary thing is…he was right about that, heroes often find themselves hated by the many the protect sooner or later. Then, when given a chance they will demonize and possibly kill them to suit their own needs and desires. It’s why I walk the path of a guardian, one who protects those precious to him/her first and foremost, even if it means the many suffers for it. But if you can safely protect innocent lives without endangering those you love, no harm in helping those you can, but never forgetting what truly matters. Because without those you love and care for, you got nothing and life isn’t as beautiful without them. The precious few, they make everything worth it in the end.
I think his green goblin is on the same level has heath ledger's joker, both did a really fantastic job on how they delivered the speech perfectly. Another great movie Willem Dafoe was in... Was the boondocks saints movie from the 90s. He was incredible to watch in those two movies.
@@scottstephens2106it's absolutely tragic and awful what happened with Ledger's death but at least he wasn't alive to be brought into a fan service film that made his character different than what it was in TDK. His role is immortalized
Well I mean it’s not like they didn’t have a valid reason. Their just stupid fucking people. Why would a hero who literally fought to save the planet kill some random wannabe hero? But that’s how the world would actually react if their told a hero is a murderer. Especially when theirs already a big name who hates spiderman.
The movie tried to convey it although it didn't have enough time to properly develop their relationship, but Norman did look at Peter as an adopted son, he was extraordinarily proud of him, and was thoroughly pleased that him and Harry were friends, and he thought of them almost like his own, since they had been friends for so long, and he was exactly what he wanted Harry to be like, and hope to Harry would start to take after him more.
Was looking for this exact comment. Ty. Always try to use shazam but it never works. So Im always sad when I have to leave a video without the song of the name
That’s the beauty of a hero. You don’t do it for love, acceptance, and glory. You do it because it’s the right thing to do. To be a hero you must be ready to lose everything for the sake of doing the right thing
We often credit the actors for their amazing quotes and lines they said, but we don’t give the real credit to the script writers who actually come up with and write the quotes, just saying
There's need to be more of these scenes in movies, where the villain gets to talk some sense, real sense, just relaxed but reasonable. Just to show they have some little humanity and to show that the hero won't be swayed even if what the villain says is true
I show this scene to my daughter occasionally. "because it's right" is what i try to teach her and i think this and "we are who we choose to be" are the two scenes that perfectly sum that philosophy up.
The fact that tobey's spidey really cared for him that he spent years trying to formulate a cure in his mind shows how smart tobey's spider-man is. Making a set of formulae on the top of your head is really impressive for me

He was hurt
What's terrifying is when the villains ideology makes sense and almost makes the hero want to side with him/her. We know that villains are heros from they're perspective the difference being they went about they're ideology differently.
The villains with actual reasons and motives are the best ones.
He doesn’t have a motive lmao he injected himself with untested chemicals which made him go insane
@@Uh-ll4ri yes but he had motives behind his attacks. Unlike some villain characters who are written to be evil just for the hell of it.
@@xtrasalt7210 not always jokers one of the greatest villains cause has no motives
@@pillowboy7995 He does have reasons. If you’ve watched the recent joker movie, you’d see what I mean. He was in a society crumbling on itself, with nobody to help him out, even though he had good intentions until he broke.
There’s even a joker that decides to do good in the world because Batman dies. So his whole purpose of doing what he does is gone. Batman does later come back and causes joker to stop being the good samaritan he was.
@@xtrasalt7210 the new joker film is a completely different take on the character that's usually not how his character is.

Nikocado Avocado in a nutshell
This monologue is written and performed beautifully. Dafoe is one of the best people they could've casted for Green Goblin
The green goblin is one of the wisest men ever this quote is one of the most legendary and true quotes ever
If superheros were real, this quote would be so accurate. I've seen this movie at a young age back in the early 2000s and i never thought much of this scene. Now as an adult, it's insane that this message was there over all these years and never lost its meaning.
It still is accurate
Goat dialogue
Dam right. Encouraging and self lifting in a way. It gives me chill everytime I watch it. I have it on replay.

The chills I got watching this.....i don't know why nowadays.....
I'm starting to feel like the villains are right in life.

@@xszy_tt 9 people disagree. Democracy has settled this.
I agree its more what norman would have learned the hard way of being a businessman/entrepreneur before becoming goblin
Fuck this hit me, I’m so proud and happy that these 2 legends got there roles in NWH !!!
As kids we love the heros,As adults we understand the villains 🔥.
I like how Goblin taps his shoulders while chilling beside him like "come on you know I'm spitting facts"
Jesus, that's pretty much it.

@@SourMechexcept green goblin is a gobillionaire
Goblin legit just sat down and talked to Peter about life. Love it.
Fun fact: this scene inspired nolan's the dark knight speech.
Goblin should've brought some beer with him here. They could go for hours just talking about shit. 🤣

This is so relatable . Being a good guy costs many things , getting ignored other times until they need your help . Spiderman is also right . being a good guy is taking responsibilities that directs you to do still good things .

The part where Osbourne just leans next to spidey always gives me goosebumps & I love that scene.
That goblin smacking spidey head like that is just like a dad lmao. He's like come on stupid, square root of 9 is not 6 think before you answer.
This is actually an amazing scene, most down to earth villain scene

It’s really incredible how relevant this quote is not just in movies but in the real world.
That’s the beauty of a hero. You don’t do it for love, acceptance, and glory. You do it because it’s the right thing to do. To be a hero you must be ready to lose everything for the sake of doing the right thing
Dang this dude predicted Tom Holland’s spiderman
We often credit the actors for their amazing quotes and lines they said, but we don’t give the real credit to the script writers who actually come up with and write the quotes, just saying
Trust me, they script writers are getting paid very very well
There's need to be more of these scenes in movies, where the villain gets to talk some sense, real sense, just relaxed but reasonable. Just to show they have some little humanity and to show that the hero won't be swayed even if what the villain says is true
Another really good one was the Punisher and Daredevil rooftop scene. They kinda hash it out but you also see neither one is 100% right
