- I bought a bag of silver coins (Washington Quarters and Mercury Dimes) and saw a 1932 Quarter! I am excited to see what this big old bag of silver coins has in it!

I love the Mercs and Wash25s in the 30s.
Interesting how the Mercury dimes are supposed to represent a youthful Liberty in a winged Phrygian cap, but the cap looks like the sort associated with Mercury - and quite early on that made people talk of the dimes as Mercury dimes. That’s people for you. The name has stuck and it’s not going away!

Very nice batch o' coins, Rob. In looking for the "impossible" dates, 1916-D dime and 1932-D and S quarter, one has to remember that the mintage numbers on these years have been known since very shortly after the next years started to be made. In other words, it was known that 1916-D dimes were going to be exceptionally rare in 1917. So those coins have been hunted for over 100 years! Similar with the 32 quarters. Not only were those "first year of issue" coins, it was known in 1933 that they would be scarce. So they've been hunted for getting on 90 years now. It's incredibly unlikely you'll ever find those dates in circulation. I would also say that those Merc dimes as a group were in well above average condition. Nice batch!

Got a good price on some junk silver myself this weekend, with some $ negotiating I ended up at $19.50 per face, had one book filler half dollar,the rest is put away for the future 😀🇺🇸

Maybe it’s from going to arcades growing up and using quarters, love .900 silver quarters. $20 face is good rates, great finds.

Oh yes, that sexy bag, hello there! Some great ASMR when you pour those out, least for us 🐉 anyway. You're killing me, though, handling those proofs with bare paws and touching the face, because they are looking pretty well perfect on camera 😱
What a cool hunt! Great to see you had a lot of fillers and upgrades in that batch; those books have some really nice solid examples in there. Although "we" flat didn't expect to find any special varieties in "junk" coins, glad you check anyway, because you just never know! Not Ag, but love the 65-67s you have in the book; those are such tough years to find in good shape, much less blazers. I'm sure you can specifically buy them for condition, but to just get them "however" is a heck of a find! If there's some chest feathers going on late 60s quarters, I hang onto them as most anything that's been cruising around for almost 60 yrs is going to have a heck of a lot of miles on it.
If you ever feel to do a vid on it, would be curious of your proof finds from various junk Ag buys or roll hunts. They can be in rough shape, but it's interesting to find them. I have maybe 10 proof coins I've pulled from roll hunts, and that 74 (I think - would have to check the year) quarter that I got in actual change at a store.

Definitely looks like you got a collection dump. Congrats.
Those dark spots on the back of the 43 Merc could be an indication of cleaning, and that residue was left behind.
If it was cleaned, it's not MS. There are a lot of spots on the reverse and even some on the obverse. The dark areas inside the devices is also evident that it was cleaned and some of the crud did not come out. I like the micro S.
No I think that’s because they where harvested off of a mercury wine bottle, 43s where put on mercury wine bottles,
If that's the case, it would never grade. I mean it's hard to tell from a photo, but it looked cleaned to me.

Very cool hunt and fill. I have never done one on that scale. Most constitutional I’ve purchased at one time is around $45 face. That definitely looked like a collection dump. Thank you for sharing.

I've seen people fill extra books, I've seen them sell to try and get more, and I've seen them saved in tubes. It's just up to the individual, honestly.

I have Question it's probably a dumb question, I'm recently retired and my wife said I need a hobby, I've always been interested in coin collecting. I'm not looking to make money just buying those collection books and filling in the dates in those books but for me I don't care how worn the coins are as long as I can see the date. For a someone just looking have fun, Where would you recommend I start.

@@KClivlaughlove He didn't mention his purchase price as I remember. It is always a multiplier of the face value of the coins. $100 face value time 21 = $2100.

I'm not a coin snob. I would keep them all. There are no official rules for collecting coins, tokens, or banknotes. Collect how you want to collect.
