I have no idea why TH-cam recommended me this video because I have no interest in collecting coins, but I just sat and watched you sort through the entire bag. Maybe TH-cam knows me better than I know myself 🤔
That's like me. I've never even searched anything to do with coins before and never shown any interest in it, but I sat through this entire video for absolutey no reason at all 😆
I had an awesome discovery myself a few months back--the second rarest Lincoln Cent, the 1914 D. Found it in a jar, above the sink, where it must have been stashed for 50 years, at least...
We've got a £2 coin without a print on the silver bit in the middle. We took it to the royal mint a few years ago and nothing seemed to suggest it was fake so its pretty neat
Big up the Canvey Island massive. We used to occasionally go there for a summer holiday in the 80s to stay in some horrible dreary brown chalet on the seafront.
I came across your channel by accident and within minutes I was hooked - your encyclopaedic knowledge and laid back commentary is very entertaining - love the quirkiness of the whole thing - looking forward to seeing more . Great job 👏 😉
Congratulations on the fried egg! When I saw, Canvey on Sea, I thought, no it can’t be. I grew up in Essex, and 30 years ago, Canvey Island was considered, shall we say, a little rough. It seems some genius estate agent has managed to alter the image to such an extent, the post office is now called Canvey on Sea. Fabulous 😂😂
@@MartinMurray1966 I got given one in some change years ago, never heard of or seen one before then so assumed it was fake or dodgy and moved it on...... a little gutted now lol
when I was a kid I was obsessed with holding on to special coins, maybe this is something I should get in to. seems like a fun hobby, and it's not exactly gambling hahaha
A lot to love about watching this hunt. There was a great Oooohhhhh and it was only the second bag in. I'd never heard of the fried egg error so thank you for highliting it. But I've never seen you more excited about a wonky technology coin even after finding a 2015 Britannia and a London Olympiad coin. A great video 😁
TH-cam suggested this to me and I thought nah, coins are dull. 2 minutes in and I want to say I was spectacularly WRONG. This was absolutely fascinating. Thank you & subscribed.
Exciting news! The inclusion of Rose number [66] beautifully symbolizes our collaborative efforts in this creative garden at CoinEra. Let's continue nurturing this shared space together! 🌹🌷🌼 Thank you for being an integral part of it! 😊💖
what a cool dude you are! i would love to have you as a mate! 😁 every two minuets i would be like, yo bro?! is this worth anything? what about this? 😆😆
It's nearly midnight and for some reason TH-cam decided to show me this ... more annoyingly is that I then watched it ! Strangely relaxing - never knew coins had so many variations. 🙂
Every time I watch a post I remember getting a £2 coin with the silver middle section note seated/ not flat!! with part of it sticking out, I thought it must be a fake £2 and quickly got rid of it!!........It was most likely a defect £2 coin. I feel like a mug now.
I think the fried egg error is harder to find than the Jane Austen. The Jane Austen NIFC was meant for collectors and not for circulation while the fried egg error is 100% unintended. I also enjoy error coins way more than NIFCs.
@@petervolkovoy7516exactly that’s all I watched this video for as I’ve about 200 £2 coins all collectibles but I don’t know the value for any of them plus I’ve £5 coins and about 300 £1 coins most of which are the old style £1 coins so of no value other than to collectors then finally I also 50p coins and they are in the hundreds and both types the old large ones and the newer smaller ones then various other collectibles in coins .
"Standing on the shoulders of giants" is actual a big diss to Hooke, so even though it sounds like a profound thing to say, it was actually because Hooke accused Newton of plagiarising his work on light, which to be honest, he had to some extent, but Hooke and Newton hated each other, and Hooke was a short man, so Newton responsed with "If I have seen further (than you) it is by standing on the shoulders of GIANTS (and not small people like you)"
I have got two William Shakespeare ones a London Underground/Florence nightingale/world war 2/Trevithick invention industry and a Brunel one. If I where to sell them what would be the best price to sell them for. I also have a Peter rabbit 50p
I have some 'new' £1 coins dated 2016 which weren't released until 2017, supposedly the first year of circulation of the new style, stepped edge coins. Are they worth keeping ?
I'd go with the Jane Austin as the better find... but on a side note , have you got any navy centenary with off centre strikes (as in the centre is not in the middle) or are they all like that?
Just come across to your video. I collected two pound coins myself but they don’t look as neat as yours. Wanted to get those two pound coins holder, where is it from?
how do you buy or exchange for these bags of coins as every time i've searched recently or in the past i've only found people trying to sell singular coins for 10 times face value? if its through the post office then fair enough but if theres a way to do it online id love to get back into collecting
Ooh, some nice finds there chap! I got into coin hunting in early 2019, but of course the events of the following year sort of killed that off and I never got back into it! 😷🚫🙃 Have to say I'm envious of the speed at which you're able to work through a bag! I tended to lay mine out in a 5x4 grid (Though I was doing circulated 50ps) but I was quite slow checking and categorising them, and didn't really look out for errors either. In my case age might have something to do with it too, though. _[Gestures at walking frame 😋]_ Talking of errors, that _Fried Egg_ was a very nice find! I admit I'd have probably run right past it without even spotting it! I think I still have _one_ unopened £20,- bag around somewhere, I might have to work through that one _very_ carefully! 😇 Closest I think I've had to an _error_ was a 2015 Britannia where the outer ring had been compromised and had started to oxidise, so I returned it to circulation. Often regret it (Think that was the only '15 Britannia I ever had) but at the end of the day I think I once unwittingly passed-on either a _Kew_ or a _Presidency of the EU_ at some point in life, so that sort of stuff happens. 🎰😇 Also: You might've converted me away from sealed bags: They used to be all I ever looked at on the assumption coin centres would never check coins but bags dropped off at the Post Office probably had been. If I do another hunt in the future I'll have to give Post Office bags a spin! 📯💰👍
I have a 1807 £2 coin, I have been told there is a printing error on it and could be worth some money. The queen's head facing down, the lettering on the edge is upside down. Any thoughts?
At 12:05 when you are showing all the edge inscriptions, they are all the same wording but the font varies a lot, eg the 6th and 8th coins from the top have much taller and more slanted lettering. Is this normal variation or did they change the lettering style at some point?
Although I love the Jane Austen coin, the "Fried Egg" 🍳 error has to be the better find. The Queen had a massive wart on her face as well! Will you be finding a space for the coin in your album(en)? 😂😂 Great Olympic and 2015 Britannia finds too. 👍
Great video: May I ask, when you find the coin you refer to your bucket list and mention something like "Nist £2 coin". What was it you were referring to?
Really pleased for you 👍 I notice on the obverse a similar thing has happened with the gold, not so much as the reverse tho. Are they worth much ? I know rarity doesn't always mean 'loadsa money ' , I just wondered about errors like that. Britannia is my favourite reverse, the Romans used her image on reverse of some of their British coins , imo we should always have a coin with her on it's reverse, :)
I had a set in 1997 of two pound coins one was a prototype of the queen's chin a slim version of her face and the second, the first of the regular £2 coin, please can you tell me what that would be worth? Now would be highly appreciated 🙏
Hi Christopher, any tips on how to establish if a coin is worth anything or not, if I look on eBay any given coin can be worth next to nothing or thousands

I collect £2 for no other reason than they are too heavy in the change. Unfortunately I have never checked them before and came an emergency for cash I disposed of the bulk. I started over again but since Lockdown hardly use any cash. I'll go now and check mine. I'm anxious to see if I can do that coin flip that you do.... !
