- Over 3,000 Mercury Dimes Searched - Junk Silver Purchase - 1916 D Dime?
I grabbed almost $400 Face Value in Junk Silver, as well as a few other odds and ends in a bag filled with all of my silver dealer's available Constitutional or Junk Silver, including Silver Dimes - which I was hoping would contain some key or semi-key dates, and perhaps even a variety or two!
FYI - The bag had over $320 face value in Mercury Dimes alone - which is more than 3,200 of them!
Hopefully you all enjoy this video!
I ask for all of your input on that slick 1916 Dime... Is there a D (Denver) mint mark?
As always - Happy Hunting and Thanks for Watching AND keep Stacking that silver my friends!!!

RobFindsTreasure how much was it
Wow over 3000 mercury dimes, and quarters. That’s a lot of sliver of coins 🙂. Awesome job RobFindsTreasure.
Rob I think that 1916 “D” is legitimate
Give me some pls
Even 1 only
With the possibility of that 1916 being a D, I would personally send it off and have it graded just to see. At the worst, you're out $22 plus shipping, if it is a D, then you made a lot more than what you spent getting it graded. Thanks for another video.
"Somebody's gotta go back and get us a sh**load of dimes!"
RFT: *I'M ON MY WAY*
I'm so glad someone made this joke
This deserves more love
Gotta love that Lepetomane thruway
I don’t think it is a 1916 D. The real ones have a kind of unique placement of the D. Still
a very interesting find though. It could have even been a previous attempt to counterfeit. Thanks for posting!
That's my gut as well - after fresh eyes on it the next day, it's hard to validate it - BUT it's also hard to exclude it entirely as well.
@@RobFindsTreasure I'm not seeing the top of the D and the shape of the 26-D indention is significantly different. I dont think it is 😔
I tend to agree it's not. The supposed D looks to have a greater angle than the D on the 1926, But compare it to your 1916 D first. Also, check coins you think are 1941 for the 42/41 just in case.
@@RobFindsTreasure
I took a screenshot of the reverse and overlayed a genuine 16-D reverse on top in photoshop. Sorry to say, but the mintmark positions don't line up.
@@tromboneman3037 exactly the supposed mint mark on the 16 was to low
Mercs are my favorite coin ❤ these videos are awesome!
I think what you got Rob is a 1916 D just saying..
I always like the chance to get a look at a SLD. Most beautiful we've minted imo.
Thanks for sharing.
Old story Rob... when Rob has fun, we have fun! 😁😁😁
That’s a tough one with that 1916.....like you said. Gut no....heart yes....I hope it is that would be exciting
The D mint mark on the 1916 D is higher. The top serif is almost touching the bottom leaf.
Conveniently placed! LOL! Awesome video as always! 😎🤩👍
That thing definitely looks like a 1916 D. Based on the placement and how it looks, I think you got one. There’s a very small chance that it could be damaged but I honestly believe that that is a D mint mark.
I know - it has me stumped for sure.
RobFindsTreasure I wonder if you can send it to someone to have it checked out. I probably wouldn’t say NGC or PCGS, but maybe someone like your silver dealer to see if they can pull off the mint mark.
@@damiencurrency15 Or anacs (cheaper).
Silvadel Shaladin That works too.
@@silvadelshaladinbut when you sale it goes for way lower in a Anacs holder unfortunately
Nothing better than waking up from a Saturday afternoon nap to watch this video. V'ger will comply.
What a great silver score! I'm thinking that it probably is a 1916 D.
I loved the other video of junk silver! I am so happy to see it back!
Awesome find brother! Wish I could strike it that big! Knowing you, you got a steal of a deal
That should go very well with your bank score 👍👍👍, that is some serious dime time
That's a nice haul of silver
That’s an awesome buy.. would love to buy that much!! Those silver bars are really cool and I love the detail on merc dimes!
That is one huge mess of dimes!!! Love it, I have a 1916 that is so close also. My heart wants it, but, you know...
Nice job man you dont have to convince me thats D for sure....
Mercury dimes are so cool
I would be more than happy to accept that Seated Half as a giveaway Rob!
That bucket of dimes, makes up for lack of silver from past dime hunts. Epic, Pick up.
HOLY DIMES BATMAN!! Great video...🤘🤘🤘
I always enjoy the videos of you going threw junk silver that you purchase. Keep up the good work and fun videos 🤙🏼
NOW THAT'S ALOT OF MERCS!!
Is that the most you got at one time?
On this Channel!
Have a GREAT Day!!!
BY FAR... bank account crusher, but silver stack riser!
I know you want to save us time but I really enjoy seeing all the coins. Good video I got a 2020 silver eagle for 20 bucks today from my local coin store. He gave me a discount because I brought in my younger cousin who is brand new to collecting
I just found out today that the best time to buy silver is today! 15 Silver dollars today equal one Gold Dollar
I have been stacking silver and my investment has doubled in 1 year.
And Thanks for your you tube channel!!!
Just came across this video and pulled out my 1916D and it seems to be the same position and length, width opening as mine
Wow Rob now that is the biggest lot of junk Silver Dimes.uve ever seen, absolutely fantastic. Thanks for putting it up for viewing. 😎🤠🙋
Congratulations great purchase👊
Wow nice I see you bought some bars and generic rounds this time too
Wow that’s amazing to see that much junk silver at one time...thanks for the video! 🙌

Great Video!!! Dang that's alot of silver!!!
A spectacular sight of silver!
It's been a silvery couple weeks for you between this and the silver score from the bank rolls! Great stuff, Congrats.
I am having trouble getting junk silver. I miss it :(
Love the show bro that's a lot of silver it could be a D great bars cheers
Can’t wait till your customer wrapped rolls video you showed on Friday live stream
😍😍😍 do many Mercs 😍😍😍 just love them. And also nice to see that you purchased Silver to melt it down. Still waiting for my original RFT bar 😍 thank for showing Rob. Gotta love constitutional Silver
Nice haul of silver, congrats. I am hoping to add some old Engelhard bars to my stack.
Send that in for grading/authenticity. Worth the spend!
Two "Above Average' videos in a row. Totally awesome. Thanks Rob. This will keep my hopes up. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I always enjoy your videos. I look forward to them. I hunt Quarters for "W" but not much else. I've never found silver., Peace
Nice bit of excitement, but I don't think its a 1916-D sadly. I have been looking at a F-02 that I may buy and the mint mark just seems quite different, but great group regardless
Did you ever find out if it is the 16D for sure?
Not for sure. It’s in the “might send in to see” pile.
Great hunt. Would love to go through that many dimes
SO AWESOME ROB!!!! Great video as always! Stay well and happy hunting!
Dang, you got me excited when you said there are better dates in 26, if only it was the philly, great hunt nice silver, with the 1916, I think it could likely be a 1916D
It is a lot of fun.
Send it to be graded 2 find out 4 sure .. ( just saying )1916 P . D . S . Wow 🤩 love it 4 sure ..
I would send in for grading. Might be worth the effort. Enxlose photos of your findings, pleasing your case. Worked for me 3of 5×
looks like a D to me Rob, it even looks like it has the serif almost touching the leaf and the back of the D as well. Looks very close to the shape of the D on the Coinfacts picture.
You never went back to the basic rounds. Hope to see you cover it soon
Holy smokes that bucket of dimes😮
cool bag, leaning towards it not being 1916 d, it looks like it is slightly to the right of the mint mark location
Nice junk silver finds rob!
Rob, that is the 1916 d, i took closer look at it, even took screenshots to see even better, and i can see extremely faded, not able to see with a naked eye of course, a d shape right in that placement of where the mintmark would be, i had to zoom in extremely close to see, but i can see a d shape, you have found the holy grail of mercury dimes
That 1916 Mercury sure looks like it could be a D, wow, I can only dream of that. The 1916D is the only one I am missing in my merc collection...
Does the proof finish on the generic rounds come off when melting the silver? Awesome video btw!
Hey rob love to see the silver
Love the vid, BTW can you share the price you purchase your junk silver next video plz?
Rob, I paused the video at 8:35. If you look at the angle of the "open area" of the "D" in the bottom image, it's angled toward the middle to upper part of that stem above it. However, on your 1916 dime, that open part of the "D" is parallel to the stem. Also, the top-left point of the "D" is angled toward the tip of the stem. On your 1916, if it IS a D, then the left edge is parallel to the stem. Now, that said, we are assuming that the "D" placement is the same on the 1916 as on the 1926. It isn't. On the 1916-D dime on the PCGS website, the open part of the "D" is parallel to the stem, not angled toward it. It's in the exact spot and angle as on your 1916 dime. I think I can see the outline of the "D" on your dime. The only issue I see is that your "D" may be too low compared to the PCGS example. May be worth having an expert look at it. See the 1916-D example here: www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/1916-d-10c/4906
Merc dimes are my personal favorite
I think it's worth submitting as a 1916D for grading on the off chance they will confirm it indeed a rarity. Good luck Rpb!!
Lots of fun, I think the 1916 has a "D" in thar!!!
I think it actually could be a D, hope it is, congrats on that 1916 D.
Another great informative video ROB
I don’t know for certain if it is a 1916 Denver but maybe you should send a coin to PCGS or NGC for a verification to see if it really is or
not
WOOOOOOW thats a lot of silver!!
Sweet pickup.
Checked and scaled you potential 16d against two of mine. A slicker and a vf45. The black spot that would possibly be the center of the D is off by almost a full degree to the 5 o'clock position.
I'll give you face for 50 of them 😉 Kidding of course, great score!
I've seen a lot of worn 1916-D Mercs. There's no MM. You'd definitely see the top of the D remaining.
Voting YES on the 1916D.
BOOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Only way to know for sure is to send that 1916 dime to pcgs or ngc and have them evaluate it. Worst case scenario it's just a 1916.
Hey Rob I have been watching you for a few months now ..and I xant figure out how u find all these coins... I go to my banks in my area and yes look at me when I ask for rolled coins ..no matter what I ask for . Any little bit of info will help
I have business accounts and order them weekly
Wishful thinking on the D , is my opinion Rob, but you never know ....
Found a 1917 mercury dime in the coin star! Boom!
Congratulations and keep looking
I think your right But hard to tell not in hand But I think it’s a D
The 1916 Mercury does not look like a D mintmark. Either way, a cool purchase.
Hey Rob, did you look at the 45's for the micro S? I recently hunted several thousand mercs and found a beautiful one!
Wow that’s a 1916D for sure
Hello Rob. I’ve seen a few of your videos and must admit, you do make a very interesting production. So without getting to personal I’d like to ask, do you get your old coins from banks? You’ve gotten me interested in searching through old coins and I just want to know where is the best place to find or buy a bunch of old silver? Any suggestion will be much appreciated. Thank you!
Also looks like that 1916 hopeful D has a rotation error !
Can you only use nickadate on nickles, or is there something like that that you could use to get a mint mark.
ONLY on nickels - do not use on silver!
@@RobFindsTreasure there isnt something like that for silver?
I kind of was thinking that
Man rob thats a 1916 D merc dime!!!!!
If it was a D it would be more pronounced through the slick down areas. MMs are generally prominent even on heavy circulated coins.
(Merc dimes, buff nicks etc.). I see the area you are describing but it would still be slightly raised and more visible.
I love these videos!
Rob. How much would you pay for the englerhard bars ? My dealer has some and I put them back last week instead of buying. They struck my eye
Hard to tell on the 1916 Merc, but looks like it is a 'D'.... Nice buy there.
IMO I believe that it is not a 16d. I think it is just damage or possibly someone's attempt at a forgery.
I hope it is a 1916-d but what could you get for that quality of a coin?
Rob, you have got to submit that 1916-D to pcgs. I would lose sleep every day not knowing. Get that sucker authenticated!
