It's not old school, it's a legal document, like a contract and they need to be able to verify that you have received the document( through the postie) and can't use it in court as a defense.

    Ruin for me.
Bought an 05 CLK 1.8 kompressor 4 days ago, did an oil change, did the breaks, I was really happy with it. Talked to my mechanic the day afer I bought it, he ordered a timing kit for it, he was going to do it tomorrow and this morning the timing chain slipped, destroyed valves pistons, everything. I'm devastated.

I know how that feels. Few weeks ago I had a catalytic converter replacement booked in. My parents bought a Volvo xc90 last year, first reg 2021, with 180k miles, full service history, for 18.5k €, has no issues at all, no noises, no nothing. the thing cost 70+ k € new. An absolute steal, they now have it for sale for 29 k €. So the most important things are: service history, condition you buy it in, and if it's high mileage in a short period of time, that may even be better than anything else. It just means that 1, you get it cheaper, 2, it was likely used for long distance travelling which is simply gold for a car, especially a diesel.

I think you missed two absolute classic Homologation specials, the Renault Laguna Airflow with the massive front splitter and rear wing to allow Renault to run with Aero in the BTCC and the Peugeot 206 GT with the extended front and rear bumpers as Peugeot wanted to take the 206 rallying but realised it wasn't long enough 😂

  • @mrwhiteshorts
    @mrwhiteshorts 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@1:02:00, The whole reason why the Dauer 962 is a homologation special is, after Group C finished, Porsche, looking through their catalogue for a car, spotted a hole in the new GT1 regulations, bought BACK a couple of Dauers, turned them back into race cars. And it won the Le Mans 24hrs in 1994. The loophole was promptly closed for 1995.

On the argument: In oldschool games, like the og NFS MW, the soundtrack is a must. For modern games, no. The soundtracks of the recent NFS and FH games were mostly trash. In older games, it was mostly solid with several bangers, if you dont like a track, its alright cause the rest is nice.
But in modern games they shove in whatever the marketing dept thinks young people like instead of actually picking a good selection.

win! scored a set of heated leather seats on eBay for my car and will go collect them in a few weeks... also some police constabularies have reported what limits they enforce, eg: 10% +2 for Derbyshire and a lot of the uk. therefore seeing 77 on the speedo (plus most cars under-read by 5-6%) would be acceptable (I think) as long as you're over they can pull you, but I dont think they can punish. there are lists online of what most counties say but normally 10% +2

Needed a new timing chain, a new steering rack, the steering fluid was the wrong grade (I think they made that same mistake in every one they built) and numerous other small problems. He had a Mito or Saab convertible courtesy car for half of the year he owned it, before ditching it at the end of its year long warranty.

Only cos its been bugging me since 1st listening on Spotify;...... BIGGER wheels (not smaller) make a car travel faster than the speedo shows. Smaller wheels make a car accellerate faster but also causes the speedometer to read faster than is actual, meaning they are actually travelling slower.
Anyway, love the podcasts guys :)
    Also, 22:12 lmao

Old Gatso cameras aren't all on. I was told as much on a speed awareness course. Easy to tell as well, the ones that are on have the flash bulb installed. Wont help you first time you pass them though.

Do a podcast rating the top 40 cars of all time, could narrow it down to era or classes of car but would love to see you both argue over which car would be the over all crown jewel✌️

It was my birthday yesterday, the 23rd of November when I'm watching this. So I decided to just browse Facebook marketplace. 10 minutes later I have bought a Vauxhall Tigra, with a mere 90,000 miles on it. Condition seems excellent, it is a lovely blue colour tin top convertible, of course I drove it in the rain, when the guy said to me, "do you want me to put the roof down?" I said no mate, I trust you, anyway there appears to be no rust on it whatsoever it was clean inside and I paid £650 for it and it's all your fault! When I say your fault, I mean the Alex Multiverse. As about three months ago I bought a mini one, which had the 1.6 engine no turbo or supercharger and the only difference between that and the Cooper is the ECU tune. So of course I got it, mapped. So now it matches the Cooper badge that was already on the back. It has got 150,000 miles on it, the oil light comes on at tickover when the engine is warm. It shredded the serpentine belt after a week.
I bought it to have as a shit box winter car when I wasn't using my 20 year-old Mercedes CLK convertible but then it continued to surprise and delight., the new belt I bought was squealing and so far I have bought another belt and a tensioner hoping it's not either the water pump or the power steering pump or possibly the harmonic balancer on the crank. I have had two people offered to buy it off me, no mention of the amount they were prepared to pay, but I also have to sort out the lacquer peel, because, red. It was owned by a careful lady driver before I got hold of it and she put a Minnie Mouse sticker on the back. I reckon that will stop the cops pulling me over? 😆

Cars are ruling for me too. I sold my bmw e91 that I’d had for a few months and just didn’t form a connection with. And I bought a very nice frozen white mk6 fiesta st which I’m now only the second keeper of. It’s pretty clean and totally original. Which is rare!!

Mate of mine had an S-type that over-read by a solid 6-7mph, all the way up to about 70, after that it was closer, but still over by 2-3mph. Standard wheel & tyre sizes. 🤷🏼

Cars are ruling right now I'd say. I lost my really nicely restored NB Miata a few weeks ago but picked up a NC Miata with better options, 57k miles, and at $9k
I also got a BMW 128i manual with sport package, under 90k miles. Those are probably quite normal in the EU but they are super rare here in the US!

I also disable the music in racing games, probably because I don't listen to music while I'm driving in RL. I just like driving so much that I enjoy being in this silent metal box with just my thoughts and the engine sounds. I have to mention that I don't use a car on a daily basis, so driving for me is special.

Discs all round, pads all round, 2 callipers, top mount, battery a set of wiper blades and negative a grand in my bank later... Literally just had springs, DPF and exhaust done too... At what point to I just call it a day 😭

Best guess why they couldn't insure the Limo is its probably considered a commercial vehicle based on weight or passenger capacity. I know like in the US you need a commercial license to operate a stretch limo that can seat 16 passengers.

I’ve had an Astra diesel van for a while now. It’s done 300k almost. All it’s ever had is general maintenance, a timing belt and an injector. It’s automatic. Not slow. Stupidly cheap to run. I get about 600 miles per tank. I’m after a new car £15k budget. Nothing I have looked at has compared to my shitbox Astra van cdti 120 lol

Both my cars have 220,000+ miles without issue. They’ve been in my family since new and have been extremely well maintained. I’ve had friends whose cars gave up after 120k. It’s not so much the miles, it’s how they were maintained
