It was my birthday yesterday, the 23rd of November when I'm watching this. So I decided to just browse Facebook marketplace. 10 minutes later I have bought a Vauxhall Tigra, with a mere 90,000 miles on it. Condition seems excellent, it is a lovely blue colour tin top convertible, of course I drove it in the rain, when the guy said to me, "do you want me to put the roof down?" I said no mate, I trust you, anyway there appears to be no rust on it whatsoever it was clean inside and I paid £650 for it and it's all your fault! When I say your fault, I mean the Alex Multiverse. As about three months ago I bought a mini one, which had the 1.6 engine no turbo or supercharger and the only difference between that and the Cooper is the ECU tune. So of course I got it, mapped. So now it matches the Cooper badge that was already on the back. It has got 150,000 miles on it, the oil light comes on at tickover when the engine is warm. It shredded the serpentine belt after a week. I bought it to have as a shit box winter car when I wasn't using my 20 year-old Mercedes CLK convertible but then it continued to surprise and delight., the new belt I bought was squealing and so far I have bought another belt and a tensioner hoping it's not either the water pump or the power steering pump or possibly the harmonic balancer on the crank. I have had two people offered to buy it off me, no mention of the amount they were prepared to pay, but I also have to sort out the lacquer peel, because, red. It was owned by a careful lady driver before I got hold of it and she put a Minnie Mouse sticker on the back. I reckon that will stop the cops pulling me over? 😆

Alfa engines go on and on. My 156 has recently passed 300,000km, and my previous did 250000km. My old guiletta 1980s one, 146000 miles. Why is it fashionable to say thisbull? Especially in the UK. It's not based on reality.

Regarding music in games, unless it's open world like Forza Horizon then the music stays on but if it's a track racer then the music is off for me. Also you could edit EA Trax in the older NFS games so in Underground I had Get Low on constant repeat and Underground 2 I had Lean Back on constant repeat, used to drive my parents insane 🤣

As someone who played the original NFS games on PC (going back to Need For Speed 2!), the free roam/open world games never held any appeal for me. I found Shift 2 to be fantastic as the physics were excellent for a mainstream game. My top 3 is this: 1 Shift 2 2. Porsche Unleashed 3 High Stakes The original Hot Pursuit (NFS3) comes in close on the heels of High Stakes for me in terms of fun.

Started around the same time, started playing NFS Demos like HP2, using old xbox Kiosks in 2nd hand stores, played from HP2/Porsche Unleased to Heat. 1. NFS World (Literally a blend of old NFS era before blackbox went under) 2. NFS Carbon (Story/vibe is bomb) 3. NFS Underground (soundtrack + raw driving is unbeated) 4. NFS Underground 2 (Physics, customisation, sounds longest/grindiest game, open world 2-3 years before TDU) 5. NFS The Run (imo best progression/story blend of any NFS game, constant tension, races were towards one big objective, customisation + cars weak) 6. NFS Most Wanted 2005 (bought carbon over this, very much a US market vs carbon being the UK target market, still playing through, its so bomb) 7. NFS Undercover (felt like a US release of UG2 but with heavy MW2005 inspiration, soundtrack carried game even if story is a bit flat, last game to use decent irl/game blend voice acting, (2015..so forced) lot of unique missions brought in we'd see later) 8. NFS Prostreet (Bought undercover over this back in the day, to properly enjoy its raw driving needed PC for clutch etc, starting playthrough again vs PS2 back then, vibe is off but physics etc is unbeaten after re-playing on a PC copy) 9. NFSU Rivals PSP (Just like Midnight Club II LA, this is one of few portabel games that was a direct engine port not a scuffed adaptation, so it feels and handles like a console release, NFS Underground physics etc with NFSU 2 songs + Customisation.) 10. NFS Heat (Felt like a big upgrade in terms of the finesse blackbox polished onto old NFS games with the little details, engine swaps, kits, driving + sound engineering is mint, story etc absolute pants/ woke characters. cops scaling bit whack but is fun, theres risk, you're not Mr infinite speed like Carbon/MW, theres consequences, lobbies repetitive and physics are speed based, cruising is naff vs UG2/World) IF you wanna live the Blackbox days of NFS, search up soapbox race world and you can play NFS World on a potato, Nightriderz server king and blends 2004-2009 era into one, no UG2 map and wonky Undercover understeer physics aside, its got so much replayability/modding support, new cars added + QOL mods.

I’d be more concerned by a very low mileage car than a car with 100k on the clock. Cars need to be used, cars don’t like sitting doing nothing.

I’ve had an Astra diesel van for a while now. It’s done 300k almost. All it’s ever had is general maintenance, a timing belt and an injector. It’s automatic. Not slow. Stupidly cheap to run. I get about 600 miles per tank. I’m after a new car £15k budget. Nothing I have looked at has compared to my shitbox Astra van cdti 120 lol
