There are two types of people in this world: those who love Taylor (and Rory, of course), and those who are wrong. Well done chaps, another entertaining video. A great car with great mods.
Man, I really love the stuff with Taylor. Such genuine enthusiasm and no fake tv personality crap. Keep making more stuff - you have the formula right.
Taylor is fantastic, such a great chap in front of the camera. His enthusiasm is addictive, and he can walk the walk not just talk. Proper spannering skills and a great presenter. Thanks Taylor.
The engine was from the 405 Mi16. Which made 160bhp from its 1.9. I believe in 1988 this was the highest output N/A engine BHP per Litre of any car. It was a bit of a monster. Ahead of a Clio Williams 16v etc.
I like French cars, but French cars don’t like me. Had a Renault 5 turbo, nearly killed me twice, in the end it just emptied my bank account instead. I’ll stick to my mark one Golf GTI
Mad how good this V2 channel is. Remember going for a drive in a 200bhp engine swapped 205 gti back in the day (2002 maybe?). Fastest thing I'd ever been in, stripped out, bake bean tin and that much power was insane.
Brilliant video, Cant go wrong with Taylor in it. Looks like your speeding until you see the van keeping up, Goes to show that the noise of the engine can change the whole experience of the drive although dont fancy no power steering been there done that and never again. Great to see Rory with a beeming smile on his face.
I learned to drive in my folks’ N/A diesel 205. The lack of power steering is a non-issue in a car that small. Even that slow diesel was a riot to drive, the 205 chassis just makes for brilliant drivers’ cars!
Love the sound of those ITB’s.. I have a 1994 Citroen ZX 16v, just recently finished its rebuild. The engine was rebuilt top to bottom, head ported and polished, and of course I fitted a set of Jenvey throttle bodies on a stand alone ECU. Hub dyno tuned too 190bhp. It’s great fun to drive, and what a soundtrack to listen to doing it! Love the content, can’t wait to see what the Pug makes on the dyno
@ ROFLMAO. He said in the first video with him on the channel that he didn’t want to swap to a 6speed because he wanted to keep it as close to original, so he went with a 5speed. Then he goes and ruins it with that standalone ECU. Dude has enough money, if he wanted speed he could’ve bought a V10 M6
Taylor you're a natural in front of the camera, and Rory is getting there too these days. Love the content, my neighbor had one of these when I was a kid, I was super jealous.
The thing I noticed is during the drive, there was so much light from the windows coming in, thanks to the thin pillars and full size windows & windshield. It really shows how much visibility is cut off in modern cars with current crash standards making those pillars so thick. I would rather have the visibility and light than the safety and needing cameras installed to compensate for the massive blind spots.
To be honest I understand and get the sentiment... But when sh*t goes south, I will live with my thicker A pillars of modern cars. Back in the day (early 2000s) my then gf had a Rover 100. 10/10 visability, paper thin doors and general sh*t build quality. Bloody terrifying car even back in the day when I was young and "immortal". These days I ride around in a Octavia 3, 2.0 TDI, engine has the poke, is nice on cruise; great on fuel and is slathered in crumple zones & saftey features such as seatbelt pretensioners and airbags for my face and limbs. Thinking back to the Rover 100 where the crumple zone was my knee(s)/femur(s) and I would face plant the steering wheel in any accident; along with the vehicle mostly disintegrating. I will personally accept the reduced light intake and visability, the thicker A pillars of modern cars. Your mileage may vary, be safe out there people 🙃
I hope Taylor gets his fair share of the income from these videos because he makes them worth watching! Really he should have his own channel! Come on Taylor make the leap! You are a lot of peoples favourite from the Auto-Alex posse! I'll be your first subscriber!
French engines and ITBs are a match made in heaven, the top floor of heaven... also, It's really nice to see that every single video the CarVertical ad is made for thta video specifically...unless they've turned Alex's voice into AI and it's just fakery, but surely not...
No I think it’s a slightly altered script they probably most likely do it in batches so if they have 4 videos planned to come out idk in December then he’ll do the voiceover for all of them in one day

Well done Taylor for another fun packed episode Your the best -- you have brought this channel along way ahead of the others Fun Laughter And even more FUN
One of the best things about cars like that is how exciting they can be to drive, even if they aren't particularly fast. I'm not saying that this one is slow, but you can definitely see a van keeping up in the background while Rory seems to be fearing for his life. Either way, would love to see how much power it's actually putting down.
Crazy fun! But my prediction is 180 HP (not 210-220, that would be crazy)... the noise (with the ITB) , the lightweight (and the rattling) is the fun! I do remember my friends mom had VW polo with 54 HP it was crazy fast :-) and my mom got the 37 HP... It was crazy slow :-) I then inherited that one, and never reach the speed limit on the motorway on straight line... but I did manage to get it 10 Km/h over the speed limit (friend was driving) on a big downward hill.. 🙂 My next car was a Nissan 200SX S13, CA18DET ("shit" tuned to 200 HP from 169'ish) and the ketchup turbo was so much fun... after that car... I got the same one again (with a port polished CA18DET and new turbo and I guess about 230 HP which I was going to finish off with about 300 (ish) HP... but my friend drifted that sort of out of bounce and had to sell it for parts)... the family stuff started to happen and the cars was just a from point a to b transport... sadly...
100% agree. Don't know what cams it's running but I also predict it'll be making somewhere in the region of 180. That "head work" potentially could have made it flow worse too, as the whole point of the Mi16 was it had about the best air flow of any production cylinder head at the time, and a lot of muppets would go to town do porting and polishing jobs that just ruined it.
Rory, you're asking about the 205 crash protection. To give you an honest answer: A motorbike is safer. Other than that, a 205 with this Mi16 engine surely is a LOT of fun!
My Dad had a 205 back in the day, he bought it from a farmer who just had it stored in a shed. He did some work to it but never to this level, Taylor you build a beast I love it

remember a mate doing the convertion, Mi16 engine was stupid money, drove a complete BX GTi home for lot less...the entire loom being green cable wasnt fun though
Definitely get that beast on a dyno! Worth seeing what it's putting out and even getting it tuned to properly accomodate for the mods! Also, you've gotta get yourself some 1.9 rear quarter badges! Mate of mine had a 405 Mi-16, was a beast! Always had a soft spot for 309 GTI's too. Lovely motor you've got there mate!
I bloody love it! My dad had a couple of 1.9s over the years as did his mates. Proper nostalgia, I would love one but prices for a decent one are really increasing.
Love you guys together, so much fun haha. Used to have the same car in the Netherlands with the same engine, with a completely rebuild and ported head. Still really knackered that I had to sell it due to having no storage space. If you try hard enough it will go around a corner on three wheels 😂
Taylor and alex , what a combo for some entertainment.. great job, guys , and i love the builds.. from the other side of the pond , much love and respect, guys .. peace and love all, keep it rad, stay safe, and build on..l8r famz and keep having fun guys
If you loosen the two nuts holding the gearbox mount to the battery tray you can lever the mount towards the drivers side a small amount, probably enough to give you a bit more master cylinder clearance.
