Same here, when i unlocked the possibilty of setting my Hearthstone at the farm, it was my home for the entirety of MoP. It was such a neat idea and basically the prototype for player housing. I also miss the cooking dailys, they add a lot to worldbuilding.
Tillers was the first reputation I ground to Exalted on my own as a twelve-year-old that had been playing around on my mom's account for several years. At the time, I would wake up at five-thirty in the morning to pick up the crops and get a head start on the dailies, as the dailies reset at six in the morning for me back then, and then get ready for school. As much as I like Classic and its upcoming TBC incarnation nowadays, I have a soft spot for MoP even now. My least favorite daily from Tillers was the Kunzen Hunter Chief because I didn't figure out how mot to get knocked off the mountain for a while. (Also hated the saurok killing one for the Anglers...I'd often get swarmed and I'd die with my crappy questing greens.)
In Vanilla/Classic it definitely did suck to be Horde for cooking at the start, but those two Raptor recipes in Arathi for the Omelettes and Raptor Flesh made it super easy to power level through the mid-high levels of cooking while doing some quests. Oh, and Dragon's Breath Chili was also a fun recipe in Vanilla that might be worth a mention.
I seem to recall that as a Hunter (in Vanilla), the types of foods you fed your pet would increase their happiness faster (and I think also lasted longer), so a high recipe cooked meat worked better than say, a low level raw meat. Great for when training a new pet up to friendly status. :)
@@hirumaredx It required both cooking and inscription to make a fortune cookie. Inscription to make the mysterious fortune, and cooking to make them into cookies (that would as food did, restore some health, but then give you the fortune you baked inside of it).
Surprised you didn’t say how in Alpha you had to spend SP at the cooking trainer to learn skills. So you had to decide if you wanted to use SP on professions or combat abilities.
The problem with crispy bacon is that the bacon was 10x more expensive than just using another food buff item, and it didn't allow your food to persist through death so bye bye 6hr food buff.
The “Mech-Dowels ‘Big Mech’” is not from McDonald's, but references the Big Mick from McDowell's. McDonald's has the Golden Arches. McDowell's has the Golden Arcs. I recently leveled a night elf to level 5 to get their cooking recipe for spider meat, and then traveled to Booty Bay to transfer it to my horde character. I’ve accidentally accumulated a lot of low level spider parts for a couple of bronze coins, so I decided, why not level cooking the hard way.
Man, I remember making sooo much gold in WotLK by just grabbing all the materials to get max cooking and selling the profession to people. I had every single recipe but Thistle Tea and it annoyed me to no end that I didn’t grab it before it went rogue only.
Let's be honest, the BFA change WAS needed. At that point there is too many levels and expansions to level through a profession. I don't think someone would voluntarily sit there and level a profession from 1-950 or something(2 expansions post legion cap)
In Vanilla, Dig Rat Stew and Crispy Lizard Tails are the best for vending. Both vend for 20-25s a stack, and each craft creates 2 food. Dig Rat sells for 1c, or 10c for 10, or 20s+ for cooking 10 raw ones. Lizard Tails need a 40c Spice, but still ends up being 25s for 10 since it turns into a stack of 20. Both are in the Barrens. The Thunderlizards for the Tails are right next to Camp T. The Dig Rats are basically an enhanced critter in Bael Modan. Extremely easy to farm at very low levels.
my biggest salt with cooking in vanilla is all the recipes involving spider parts are all on the alliance yet as an undead i have so many spider white ingredients and they all just get vendored, is the bullshit LET ME EAT THE F*CKING SPIDERS!
Its really barebones, no multirank recipes, no flavor items, no quests. It's just your way of getting your food buffs for raiding and thats it, also hate the vendor ingredients that just bloat your inventory.
I'm confused on the cheese required for clamette surprise quest in tanaris. When you look online, I've seen it ask for fine aged cheese or alterac swiss.

Lol. You think with all that cooking. Nomi would finally get good. (also like what they have on him in hearthstone: "His cooking is always very well done.")
The info about Kibler's Bits is incorrect. The food was changed to only increase pet size, but in BC it actually used to give your pet +20 Strength and Spirit.
Fish is one of those professions that is pretty useless by itself without cooking, but fishign and cooking at like the two professions that go hand in hand.
tbf the alli cooking quest vendor still only gets you past mid lvl cooking which is still pretty easy to lvl too as horde you just get worse quality food usually
Not sure about the alliance because i never played one of those scum but the cheese you need for artisan cooking on horde is alterac swiss and not fine aged cheddar. Would make the quest way easier if it was as that cheese is a pain to find.
Lol vanilla always feels like Blizzard spent ages on the allied zones and progressions and so forth, then realized they had only a couple months left and just threw the horde together last second 😂
Horde has some sick zones ngl. I play alliance but the Trisfal glades, silverpine forest, the barrens and hullsbrad foothills are top tier leveling zones
Are Zesty and Tangy Clam Meat together a sly George Carlin reference? You know, from his bit about how zesty and tangy are advertising words nobody really uses in everyday talk? “Say, this stuff is real zesty…!”🦪
