Top 5 movie for me. Got me into extreme inline skating. Movie of my youth. Thanks for doing such a great comprehensive film location for this diamond in the rough movie.
INCREDIBLE VIDEO!!! This movie was my entire childhood! Me & my best friend STILL quote it to this day! The casting, the story, the music, the impact… One of the BEST FILMS of the 90s! Still watching it in 2024!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
This film meant so much to me as a kid. I still say the scene where they all finally embrace Mitchell and lift him up and apologize towards the end is one of the most uplifting scenes in all of film.
Literally re-watched this movie last night. My girlfriend's first time after I watched brink with her for the first time lol! Good times! Nostalgia at it's best. 🤘
The double date location on the Kentucky riverfront was called Covington Landing. It was a floating structure/barge on the Ohio River that housed several restaurants and bars. It had a railing/boardwalk on the outside where they stood. It is long gone but you were in the correct location. Great job with the video!
My grandma story is the opposite; she got me a bootleg VHS copy because she thought I'd like it. My friends and I wore the tape out, and then went and jumped over people's recycle bins and stiff haha. Awesome video man. Tons of work went into that!
This is awesome, takes me right back to 1993 and all the rewatches for years after that. Thanks so much for the very well researched and presented video!
Great job. This was my favorite movies growing up. My friend and I rewatched it a couple years ago and died laughing at how corny and dated it seemed. Still one of my faves though.
Absolutely love this movie. Just watched this yesterday for nostalgia and just stumbled upon this video today. Thank you so much for this video and I think it's awesome how you match up real shots with the movie! I used to watch Airborne every day after school as a kid. Thought it was so cool to have a movie that took place where I'm from. Funny thing is, Devil's Backbone is 2 minutes from where I live. It's a decently curved/hilly road. Devils Backbone starts off of Rapid Run Rd and eventually turns into a dead end. It also leads to a street called Ebenezer which is pretty curved/hilly also. All of those roads have some crazy cool bends that would have done the job honestly. They could have actually used both of those streets to give a similar outcome honestly. It's only like 12-15 minutes from downtown Cincy. Either way, amazing movie and I'm glad the TH-cam algorithm brought me to this video. Absolutely amazing work!!!
I am so stoked to have found this....thank you for the effort and for making this. I absolutely loved this movie. I, 41 now and still watch it. Fantastic content, well done!
I watched this movie a million times when I was like 12-14... I wanted to visit the movie locations so bad, this guy is literally living my dream at the time. It's crazy how alot has changed though.
Excellent coverage! Airborne and Can't Buy Me Love (1987) are my two favorite RomComs. I first saw Airborne in 1995 on HBO and really enjoyed it. I was trying to figure out where several of the fil.IMHO locations were and just found your TH-cam video page, which answers so ma h of my questions. I loved the chemistry between Shane McDermott and Brittney Powell. Thanks again Happy Holidays!
Great job finding these locations. I was an extra in the movie & this brought back so many memories. Seeing the ice rink knocked down was very sad. “Travis, you’re out.” Is still my favorite movie line… lol.
I'm new to this channel and just so happen to find this video first. This was one of me and my brother's favorite childhood movies. It's the movie that got us into roller blades/skating. Man, so many memories, i wonder if they've done a reunion with the cast because so many cast members have done so well for themselves. thank you for covering this movie.
Wow thanks for making this video. I’ve always said how underrated this movie was. I’m 34 now and I’ll still put this movie on when it’s a Friday night and I’m just relaxing.
I was three or four when this video was filmed about a block away from my house. There is a park on O'Fallon Street on the Bellevue side (when facing the river/north, the right side of the street is Dayton and the left side is Bellevue) and I couldn't play at the park in case of filming! For a 3-4 year old kid, not being able to go to the park was a bummer, haha. Still live in the same house, and still enjoy watching the movie every once in a while. I just went to The Butterfly Show at Krohn Conservatory a couple days ago and I always think of Airborne when I go there. :). Sometimes it's fun to remember what this area looked like when I was really little versus now. New stadiums, buildings, different house colors, but still the same overall. :)
Not sure which is cooler. The fact that you did such an excellent job showing the filming locations of this movie (I forgot that it was based and shot in Cincinnati) or the fact that you are wearing a Radford shirt :)
One of my favorite movies growing up never thought someone would do the locations love the way you line all the shots up brings the movie back to life awesome job man 👍 🎥
Amazing work putting this together. Thank you for your passion & dedication to do this along with your significant other. I was also 🤣 @27:24 when you were explaining to your grandma how much you loved the movie. Too funny.
without a doubt one of the best movies of all time! it deserves an incredible filming locations video like this. glad i found it as we celebrate 30 yrs of this masterpiece!
What a cool dose of nostalgia! This was a pure joy to watch. I loved this movie back when it first came out and I love it still. Bravo on tracking down all those filming locations! Just wanted to say thanks for posting this video and to let you know I subscribed to your channel. Cheers!
Fantastic job! Great job showing photos of then vs now, and covering so many different scenes from the movie. And I, too, have watched that movie way too many times!
Thank you so much for doing this for us. This movie still hits for me. What an amazing film! And for you to go on site for us is awesome my friend. Thank you.
Outstanding, thank you for putting this together. This film was one of my favorites and helped push me when it came to rollerskating! Great job, from the heart!
This was super impressive!! I’ve done many attempts on google earth and street view to find these spots and found no where near as many as you have. Amazing! Thank you so much for making this.
Thanks, Leigh! If you haven’t already, you should join the Facebook group “Airborne Movie 1993”. A couple of guys have found a couple more spots in there! We could almost do a shot for shot remake at this point 😂
Fun fact you didn't ask for: Devil's Backbone is actually the name of a super curvy road on the west side of Cincinnati. But none of the footage in the movie is shot anywhere close to that location. Still love seeing my hometown rep'd in movies and the end race scene in Airborne is a lot of fun even though it's not remotely accurate to my internal GPS😁.
You know what, I meant to go to the visit the real one but completely forgot to. Next time I’m in Cincy I’m gonna have to get a picture with the street sign!
It's not that curvy. It was part of my Enquirer route and my old boss lived off it. The road it terminates into, Rapid Run, is much more currier. Especially heading to Addyston and the river.
@@GoingtotheMovies I think about those years very fondly to this day. Still skate here and there, but I'm fat and old now! Thanks for the reply and I'll follow you on Tik Tok as well.

Yep, I found that after making the video 🤦♂️ Gonna have to do a follow up as I’ve found where they did the school interiors and one other Devils Backbone spot.
Great video. I was born, and raised in Cincinnati. I recognize most of the locations you highlighted. I was only 10 years old when Airborne released. Awesome job man.
Thank you, Antonio! Cincinnati is such an amazing city and the movie is a big part of my childhood, so I loved getting to see the spots in real life. Glad you liked the video!
@@GoingtotheMovies Awesome. If you ever come to Cincinnati to catch a Bengals game, there are a lot of people who tailgate at a place called Longworth Hall. It's actually the huge parking lot where they played street hockey in the movie. You highlighted that location in your video. The buildings in the background are very easily recognizable.
Thanks for the video. I love that people still talk about this movie. I grew up on Springdale rd and went to the school at the bottom of the hill. When they were filming we all got go check out the movie trailers in our parking lot.
Great video. Airborne is one of my favorite movies of all time. It got me into rollerblading as a teen, and I still watch the movie to this day. Airborne, RAD and The Last Dragon had the best soundtracks by far
14:30 the newport side was redone since the movie. That is called "Newport on the Levee" which has the restaurants, aquarium, etc.
