    Apart from the fact it’s absolutely disgusting not to, this another reason I don’t understand people who don’t pick up their dogs poop. You can tell so much about their health.

    from Oz here, my dog is 16 months old and eats anything he finds even though he has a great diet. He is a forager. Rescue from a camp. Sometimes gets diarrhea so I have bought a pet probiotic powder from a vet chemist site. Seems to work most of the time. He even ate a massive mushroom once on a walk, didnt have time to check what sort of mushroom as it went to one gulp!!!

    1-2 could also be due to dehydration

    My dog has dark pops but he’s on meds! (Had fresh cooked food) so I thought that was why!

    So my dog has rock hard poo and it does turn white but it's very hard. You said she is getting too much calcium. I don't put calcium in her food what are some of the other reason this could be happening. She isn't moving around as much as she use too but she isn't curled up like she is in pain either. Something is going on I need to find out what so I can fix her somehow.

    What about it comes out long and soft but sometimes it’s super soft and mushy when I pick it up and sometimes firmer and easy to pick up

      Hey! Have you given any new protein sources recently? Changes in diet, especially new proteins, can often affect consistency.

    My dog is fed raw his farts and poops smell rancid, his poop is dark green soft tarry. I have tried different proteins, turkey, chicken, beef, goat, lamb, pork. No difference with protein changes. What could it be?

    Silly Q but what are ‘fibre’ foods?

    • @thedognutritionist
      @thedognutritionist  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mostly fruits, vegetables, and whole grains!

    Sometimes my dogs poo look like it's wrapped in thick mucus membrane. I have no idea why and have looked it up but unsure still. Do you know why this is?

      I think that means food intolerance

    My 11 month old border terrier has had 3 episodes of bloody poo but before the episodes his poo was a 5 the vet has now sold me some prescription probiotics kibble what should I do now , I have been giving him chicken bone broth and rice and chicken for a few days and he seems better but still loose without blood x

      Perhaps, try introducing foods that naturally have probiotics, like plain Greek yogurt, goat milk with enzymes and probiotics, zestypaws 8 in 1 or probiotic chew
      Personally, I would start there, in hopes that the natural probiotic supplements would be enough to pair with a homemade dogfood diet in the future, taking the place of the Probiotic Kibble brand you are using

    My dog gets a mix of kibble and raw. I give him all the blood I can collect from meat and organ meats, plus homemade bone broth. Could this give him dark or blackish poo?

    • @OldSnufkin
      @OldSnufkin 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, so too with feeding things like dark liver. So long as your dog's stool is in that healthy consistency range you should be absolutely fine ☺️

    How if the poo solid but its like wrapped by quite thick transparant jelly like? Sometimes my dog poo is like that

    • @thedognutritionist

      Mucus in stools isn't so bad, but if they were really soft then it's not good.

    • @walkwithpapier
      @walkwithpapier 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@thedognutritionist thanks! It's not too soft. The mucus is quite thick but the poo is like a normal texture and color. I just curious why there is a mucus.

    My dog is pooping a healthy poop and then after he is pooping dripping oily substance . It’s orange yellow in color. The only fat I feed him is in his meat ground beef 7% fat. He’s behavior is normal,happy ,energetic but this stool is a bother

      The oil being excreted is from his anal glands, completely normal.
      Time to worry is when you don't see it!!!!

    You didn’t really go over bright orange poops. My dog has been having them for 2 days, plus major stomach noises, and now today very bright orange, filled with mucous, and totally un digested chicken pieces 😮 this is new. She’s only been on chicken and rice for 24-36 hours. What could be happening please?

      Our pug has had this and it led to an inflamed bowel which we are still treating at the moment - vets recommend hypoallergenic foods but I am going to go with some of the advice on diets being given here first - my advise would be diet changes but i am not a vet - we went the chicken and rice route and it did not work for us

      A lot of animals are allergic to chicken,also rice can be hard for their digestive system… Depends how much rice you’re giving too.
