Long story short: High Elves are a very strong race, but they lack variety in their campaigns during the crucial stretch of turns 20-60, where the meat of any campaign on any difficulty plays out.
What they need is a better "mid-game" situation, more climate variety and a better campaign dynamic. Give me reasons to recruit more than Archers and Spears.
    Research tree is also annoying.
Ulthuan is also ridiculous, the threats Tyrion and Alarielle face are an utter joke: Vampire Coast and Slaneesh get squashed. Ostankya contains Morathi for a long time since SoC.

all the fun stuff seems to happen in the first 50 turns, without the AI making better decisions and actually unifying up into their blocks as well as they did in TW1.
only grimgor seems to get the idea in my playthroughs :/

@@michaelmorton6566 someone named O STANK YA shouldn't be in the game. Russians are known for grandmas lets put a random grandma in the game and make her better than every other lord the faction has. Retarded. Money grubbing CA never gonna give a fuck

T5 always feels like you won by the time you naturally grow one

The HE economic buildings should *scale* with Control rather than do nothing special between 0-99 and then suddenly activate at 100. I mean... that's how the standard Control bonuses work.

I actually just was having a talk with my buddy who plays TWW about whether the pacing was right for tier 5 stuff, because it feels like almost no factions get to use their tier 5 stuff. I think growth pacing could be doubled or more, for every faction, it'd help the midgame issue you're talking about for Helfs especially. I actually followed up a lazy Tyrion campaign with a Skarbrand campaign and I thought that 1 enemy to kill versus 5 was weird. Having enemies on the far side of the world wouldn't be so bad, if it became an adventure to get across the map to get to them, but any way you do it is kinda meh.

Imrik is the only HE Lord I can stand to play as because of how you can totally ignore the Donut(TM). It just gives you so much more freedom. Plus, his start is a great challenge with enemies everywhere! Play Imrik and you'll come to hate Drazhoath's Mega Mortar, lol.

Every game that im not playing on the donut they get killed by noctilus and the dark elves for me

it sounds like a lot of you are playing wide when you want to be playing tall, I will explain how to play tall as the high elves.
you can get to tier 5 by turn 20-30. Administrators (Archmages and mages) can stack to build buildings including settlements in one turn for free (in any climate with enough of them) which you can then dismantle the next turn for a refund which is basically printing money. Fecund trait heroes (Handmaidens and Loremasters) give 55 growth each, which work together to give you full access to your whole military while everyone else is still in the stone age. also the other hero traits that give boosts to the army are not limited to high elf troops, so you can boost allied recruits as well.
I personally have saved a handful of administrator arch mages who have beaten kugath and thorgrim in previous campaigns which minmaxes this strategy with additional growth and building cost reduction , if you really like cheese.
playing in this style you will see that there is still very little point to recruiting mid tier troops like silver helms and white lions because you will have access to top tier troops by the time you finish building your army.

@@sparioch9841 oh no son only vanilla flavor cheese in this post did you read the whole thing where i explained it or just the first line? it was a bit long so to sumerise Save heroes with the right traits and re use them. turn 26 as eltharion and earlier as alariell since she gets more and earlier handmaidens.

Accumulated positive Defender of Ulthuan bonus resets every confederation (if confederated faction held any territory on Ulthuan).
Climate is strict limitation only for Alith Anar. But it causes me to play all HE the same way - only Ulthuan and Nagarrond are prime real estate. And also contain most landmarks. But then again Nagarrond is almost crisis-free and corner of the map, while old world is neither. The only good reason not to choose to expand into Nagarrond is being unable climate-wise.
I wouldn't say archers superiority is specific issue of HE roster. Works the same for any race with good ranged units. Pure archers or mix with some defensive infantry, plus a few mobile elite units/heroes. You don't want significant amounts of offensive infantry or cavalry in a ranged army - they'd just eat friendly fire and lose to numerically superior enemy melee (faster than defensive infantry).

It's sad that my most recent Grand Cathay campaign has more High Elf Nobles than my current High Elf campaign. Sure, they're the crappy heroes you get in Caravan events that can't ever level, but it's still a sad situation.

How did you confederate the other High Elf guys??? Also playing as her. I’m #1 power, have strong relations with them all and they’re still more than -60 to accepting a confederation.

It's hard to say, what I usually do is I take a lot of territory and they end up with 1-2 provinces each so they are limited. Think it factors in.

If you aren't incredibly aggressive about grabbing land, they won't want to confederate. Once you secure the northern gate, go take over Saphery so Tyrion won't be able to
