"man who watched his parents get murdered in front of him as a boy who uses that pain to become a better man and ultimately to wreak his vengeance" Red Harlow is Batman confirmed
I’ve heard theories that Revolver’s events and Harlow himself do exist in RDR, but the events we play in Revolver are just the exaggerated, legendary re-telling of the events of that story while the actual events are more close to reality. The reason Revolver’s tale is more cartoonish is due to the retelling being more ridiculous the more it’s passed from person to person.
That moment when rockstar has the time to model Red Harlow’s house but doesn’t have the time to model the black water train station that is referenced by John in a cutscene in rdr2
I remember playing Red Dead Revolver a LOT when I was young, and I was really confused at first when I found out RDR1 was an open-world game and had absolutely nothing to do with the original Red Dead. It still makes me smile knowing that Rockstar didn’t forget about the original cowboy
I really feel like John is red Harlow, and since it's a lot of journal entries and John uses different aliases I feel like someone just wrote about John as best they could bring the old west and all, which is why the beginning of the game you pick through a book to the story and the events are kinda cartoonish and outlandish. The scars and story of actual John are too close maybe just changed when being put in the actual book since the person who wrote it didn't know John possibly
When you save jack from Angelo bronte and return him back to camp after the gang has finished partying in the camp fire hosea tells a story about him stealing a chicken and that the whole town wanted him to get hanged for it but when he said that a random guy shot the rope for him to live he said that he has never seen the man before some speculated that it was red Harlow that freed hosea

Was surprised Red wasn't on one of the gunslinger cigarette cards. I definitely think he exists in the Red Dead universe, but his stories, like those surrounding Jim Calloway, are overblown and sometimes downright farcical in the retelling, and that's the Watsonian explanation for why Red Dead Revolver is nothing like as grounded as the other games.
@Mark Leviathan he's real his stories happened but in a different way. For example...the movie Logan He tells Laura that the events that happened in The X-Men comics were true but they altered the story. So they story we see in Red Dead Revolver that we here in RDR2 and RDR1 are embellished but it did happen in a different way
Red's story is most likely toned down in actuallity like in Payday, how canonically they killed the fewest amount of people, while the gameplay is a horde shooter that puts the kill count in the ranks of Warhammer 40k level of lethality
The thing with Uncle not having the right scars, to me, can be answered by the fact that everything in Revolver is exaggerated and cartoonish. Compared to having to fight a guy who replaced his arm with a cannon, I think someone adding some nonexistent scars to Red's character description at some point is very likely. As such, I still subscribe to the hypothesis that Uncle was Red and he just didn't have nearly as exciting of a life as the now ridiculous stories would suggest.
My theory is still this, the events of Red Dead Revolver happened, but the way we see them play out in the game is greatly exaggerated. That's why every cutscene in red dead Revolver looks like an old movie scene. I think they existed but it's almost like back in the old days when John Wayne movies came out some people would sit around and talk about it like it really happened.
@@vietcongwarlord6931 They don't take place in a different universe if they did, Red and his entire story wouldn't have even had a reference in any of the Redemption games.
@@vietcongwarlord6931 No they aren't? The story described in Redemption is relatively the same we saw in Revolver? They even said characters from Revolver, I would believe that these characters DO EXIST, but were exaggerated, hell maybe they were the real events because, in RDR 2, we have The Strange Man who is Death himself by the evidence, ghost lady, ghosts, a UFO... Point is both games feature the Supernatural like Revolver did.
@@moisesvides6747 Well, no, he's just a dude that keeps birds in his pockets and has a huge charisma. This is why Arthur didn't recognise the Strange Man as Trelawny when he saw him in the distance.
@Jashard Wallington GTA IV is in the same universe as GTA V. CJ references are just for fan service. And CJ could technically exist as a person in the HD GTA universe, but he wouldn't be the CJ we know from SA.
Red Dead Revolver and it's events aren't considered canon by R*, but the characters (the main protagonists and a few antagonists anyway) are considered canon. Essentially, when you're playing Red Dead Revolver, you're just playing the "legend" of Red Harlow, not necessarily the actual events of his life.
Basically the events of Revolver might have actually happen within the Redemption setting but with all the paranormal stuff and more cartoonish side of the story removed or explained in-universe as tales told by people that never met the actual cast of the first game. Like a game of telephone.
Theory: Red went back home after raiding the manor, rebuilt the house, kept the farm going for a while found the donkey lady, felt sorry for her and took her with him, let her work at his ranch and got raided himself by the army for killing griffon, just like ol' Marston
I think it's safe to assume that the burned house in Red Dead Redemption is the real Red Harlow's home. Twin Rocks looks significantly different from Revolver in Redemption, perhaps a different interpretation given the graphic capacity and stylistic differences. So, I think the differences in Red's house and Two Crows are mostly adaptation differences as the similarities are too close As for the donkey lady? Could be RDR2 trying to make Two Crows more interesting with a glitch reference from RDR1, but I don't have a good answer for that.
Pretty much in rdr1 there was a lady u can ride as if she were a donkey. It was a glitch that got popular enough that it got its own reference in rdr2 but still don't know why its there at two crows.
@@cavaschilli8549 Yeah, the glitch was called manimal, when an animal npc would spawn with a human model, the donkey lady was one but there was other too, like old man birds.
I'm guessing they just put the donkey lady there because it is a location referencing something from an old game no longer present in RDR2. Both Red Harlow and the donkey lady glitch are absent, so they're both at that location.
So many memories, I used to play Rd revolver at my uncle's house when I was little. I fondly remember the town with the dead people and flies in the wagon, and the train duel, not to mention fighting the big fat guy that's one of the bounties. I can't believe how awesome that game was, my child mind was so easily pleased looking back.
Pig Josh was the bane of my existence when I was a kid. I couldn’t figure out how to beat him. Took me literal years of futzing around to be able to beat him myself instead of having my dad do it for me, and even then I don’t remember how.
So Red Dead Revolver game is the stories campers talk about in RDR? This reminds me of the ‘Red Dead Redemption’ is a book in the GTA universe theory. Great vid!
@@juice6199 I don't think GTA and Red Dead are connected though. Biggest factor is the sole fact that GTA is more fictional with made-up cities and organizations, like the FIB. The Pinkertons are still around to this day, and in Red Dead, they reference real life places like New York and Paris. In GTA, Liberty City is pretty much New York.
I love all the references to Red, it's a nice way of paying respects to the first main character of the RD series, the one who started it all. Also that Jackalope really wanted to be in the video-
yeah in the original red dead redemption i think you needed it to make the hunter outfit to get 2 skins. almost like the trinkets in red dead online that give you 2x wild mint.
8:15 Actually, everything points to this being Uncle Harlow's actual house. I mean come on, it's his house, plain and simple. The property being larger doesn't matter because that's what you got to expect after ten to twenty years between games with updated graphics and designs. The current design is the current canon. Also, that Donkey Lady could very well be a leftover from the Two Crows Boys bandits that took over the site before Marshall Johnson killed them off. Rockstar also did NOT state that Revolver isn't "canon" to RDR1 and RDR2, at least not in the way people would normally think, because the context in which they said it was clearly different from the common concept of canon, and actually meant it was something like a different world even though it takes place in the same universe and has actual ties to the latter games. Rockstar in fact described their Red Dead universe as something like stories or worlds colliding with each other.
@@optiplanetomatosoup Um, what is that supposed to mean? Are you implying that easter eggs equals non-canon? Because that logic doesn't hold. It's clearly an easter egg, everybody can see that, just as Arthur's name being on a building is an easter egg, but it's still canon. If it's in the game, then it's in the game. There is no getting around that.
@@Xenosaurian also are you referring to the extension of the homeless housing in saint denis? i thought it might be after the epilogue but didn’t get to check it out yet
I like the idea of Revolver being the tall-tale version of what really happened with Red Harlow. There’s another game, Call of Juarez-Gunslinger, that shows this during gameplay. The levels are supposed to be the memories of a legendary shootist, but they actually change as he gets called out for bullshitting by his audience. Great work once again, Strange Man!
I think the events of Revolver could be easily adapted into a serious setting. Just make all the main villians into events like dead rising psychos. The main events are believable like his parents death, the killing of ugly chris and Co, the train protection, brimstone s quick draw comp, and the storming of the goverors mansion.
I really love the style of editing. Makes every music and clip work together and it like makes you feel like it's a movie or something lol. Like the Strange Man (I know You) videos the music is shady n stuff.
In Rdr1 they only talk about red in the beggining of the game. After a while they start only to talk about stuff Jonh has done (this is a edit... Jeez 2 accounts, probably same guy, are real harassers lol)
I thought John was Red at first lol but I do wonder sometimes if John was at one point Red because of the scars. What I mean is Revolver wasn't originally being made by Rockstar but Rockstar got the rights. So I have wondered if John was the spiritual successor of Red since the Redemption arc of the Red Dead series was created by Rockstar. Revolver was not created by Rockstar but they took over the game and tuned it up.

I'm not sure if this is true, but I remember reading somewhere that in the early stage of Red Dead Redemption's development, Red Harlow was meant to be John's dad but the idea was scrapped
Revolver was such a hard game, I could never get passed the point when jack is picking the lock to the mansion and you have to protect him while he does it
Pretty cool to me that Red Dead Revolver is still referenced, its such an oddity, developed by capcom and angel studios, who was eventually bought, along with the game by rockstar because they were looking to do a western game and didn't want the competition. Really fascinating story behind Red Dead Revolver and how it spawned what is essentially the most popular western media in decades, being Red Dead Redemption 2.
Personally I'd like a remake of revolver and to see another version of the legend. So magic and stuff doesn't have to be an involved as its a different version. Not necessarily the true or closest version but just another one.

I just played Revolver today with a friend! I really love the game, it is very underrated, it always stands in the shadow of Rdr1/2, even though you cannot compare them very well. Revolver really feels like playing a Western: a simple, but effective story, memorable cool characters and the AMAZING soundtrack!! The soundtrack is made up of songs from (spaghetti) westerns, by the likes of Bruno Nicolai (and even two songs by Ennio Morricone!), and they all fit so perfectly to whats happening in the story. The gameplay is fun, sure has dated a littlebit but still playable. The Couch-CoOp is TONS of fun with many unique characters. But the singleplayer is where it really shines: Although it's very linear, it never becomes boring. The locations are varried, and the enemies and bosses are unique as well. You play as several characters, at one point even one of the main bad guys, which makes some interesting gameplay. Revolver is no where as complex as Rdr1/2, but it doesn't need to be. It perfectly catches the spirit of spaghetti westerns and it's entertaining as hell!! If you haven't played it, and you like Westerns, consider playing it!! Spread the love for this game!
Reds house is actually in rdr2. It's on a ridge between tumbleweed and armadillo. Kinda hard to miss, has the same fenced in trail that leads to and surrounds the house.. it's all by itself up there, not burned down though. But its modeled almost exactly like the house in red dead revolver
I found something interesting. I'm not entirely sure if it was mentioned here, But in the loading screens for Red Dead Redemption 2, I noticed someone with scars, and a type of bandito outfit while I was loading in the game. The gentleman is up north in Ambarino. It looks like he's behind a settlement, so maybe Colter?
I heard that when the first Redemption was made, John was supposed to be a reimagined Red Harlow who just became a separate character. I would like to think Red Harlow is an actual person in the Redemption games and just retired. Considering exaggerated tales are still alive to this day, I think it would be pretty easy to believe that Red Harlow was real but either retired or died before the redemption games. Probably retired though since he would only be 48 in the Red Dead Redemption 2. Meanwhile Uncle is a lot older
I was a kid when I got Red Dead Revolver for ps2. Was hella excited when I found out Red was traveling with a dog. When those bastards shot the dog, I was kinda in tears, but it legitimately made me just run around and blast everyone in a frenzy. 🤣😭
I like to think Harlow is a part of Redemption, but his and his companions stories are told in those comics like the ones Jack has, making Revolvers cartoonish story fit better. It could just be the events played out in someones head as they read his stories, based on real people.
Mannn I remember begging my mom to rent me this game on ps2 in spring of 2004 but she was reluctant cause she thought the cover was violent looking. I was 8 years old playing the mission where you gotta get the cows back in the stable and I remember my cousin commenting on how the game looked so real lol even funnier is that she used to like watching me play games more than having a turn but she wanted a turn on red dead revolver
I have a question; does the uploader-strange man go around on his horse in RDR and try to find these campers or does he use commands? If there are commands to spawn these campers it is fine but otherwise I can not fathom this guy starting his game and literally rides his horse for at least 6-7 hours to come across these particular encounters. That is an incredible amount of dedication for just pre-edit phase of making a video.
Red Harlow is certainly one of my favorite character in the Red dead universe. I do wish for him to make a more prominent presence on the current cannon, but I see how the wacky west of revolver doesn't really mix with the current one. However, some people say that the story of Revolver is told by the sheriff, so some details could be overly exaggerated. I do think Red and company were just bad asses.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind if we went away from the overly serious tone of the Redemption games and go back to the Spaghetti Western direction of Revolver.
2:20 that was a legendary animal. I remember because I rode down a street and killed a rabbit and bang I got an achievement. So I had to go back and see it for myself. There is only one in the entire game.

Jeebuz A video isn’t proof he doesn’t have Reds scars those are from shadows, wrinkles, and graphics. Uncle doesn’t have them in RDR2 which is after revolver so even if he does have the scars it’s not related to red since he got them after.
Spiderman 1977 Id rather think Uncle is Red, Different types of scars heal differently. Some stay extremely vivid and some fade completely. Uncle is old, Wrinkly, and has a big bushy beard. All of those could be hiding his face scars that are probably barely visible anyway. And his right hand has signs that it could be red as shown in the video which could be the burn but very faded and old.
Kyan So stop pretending to know. And both of uncles hands are the same, if you bother to check and not go off of a “video” but I guess your right we might never know unless we pick up with Red or look back at uncles past. And The Scar healing thing is bullshit since In RDR2 he has no scars even looking under the beard shows nothing so it’s false doesn’t matter even if he has them in RDR1 it takes place after. Time changes people in mysterious ways, I don’t think it’s an insane theory (likes others that float around in this game)
@@courier6960 This is true.
I mean, look at Victor Vance from Vice City Stories.
Red's story is most likely toned down in actuallity like in Payday, how canonically they killed the fewest amount of people, while the gameplay is a horde shooter that puts the kill count in the ranks of Warhammer 40k level of lethality
1000 cops per clown souds about right
Be cool to have a remake
The thing with Uncle not having the right scars, to me, can be answered by the fact that everything in Revolver is exaggerated and cartoonish. Compared to having to fight a guy who replaced his arm with a cannon, I think someone adding some nonexistent scars to Red's character description at some point is very likely. As such, I still subscribe to the hypothesis that Uncle was Red and he just didn't have nearly as exciting of a life as the now ridiculous stories would suggest.
The fact that the stories are ridiculous and the hero so friggin powerful sounds an awful lot like Chicago being on the way to Australia
Especially considering Red Dead Revolver has the POV of a mid-20th century Western film, that would have been about 80 years after Uncle's youth
At that point why not just say red Harlow is Arthur, or Hosea, or Lenny
@@degew9367 Because their backstories are told in-depth during the game lmao
All we need to do is look at what REALLY happened IRL with Levin's book on Jim "Boy" Calloway to see that this isn't just possible but likely
This is the 1st time the strange man was a little off, your explanation is quick simple and too the point.

@@vietcongwarlord6931 No they aren't? The story described in Redemption is relatively the same we saw in Revolver? Getting flashbacks to that one newspaper kid in Red dead revolver saying "B A T T L E R O Y A L E" everytime I come into that brimstone town.
Red is an oddity in the series. R* says Revolver is not canon to Redemption, but he gets mentioned and referenced a TON in both games.
@@SammEater Essentially. In Red Dead Revolver, you're pretty much playing the "campfire story" of Red Harlow.
+MrSmilingDeath Yeah pretty much.
Theory: Red went back home after raiding the manor, rebuilt the house, kept the farm going for a while found the donkey lady, felt sorry for her and took her with him, let her work at his ranch and got raided himself by the army for killing griffon, just like ol' Marston

“It’s confirmed that Harlow exists in some way in RDR2”
Sleeping Uncle: *scratches his ass and sniffs*
I think it's safe to assume that the burned house in Red Dead Redemption is the real Red Harlow's home. Twin Rocks looks significantly different from Revolver in Redemption, perhaps a different interpretation given the graphic capacity and stylistic differences. So, I think the differences in Red's house and Two Crows are mostly adaptation differences as the similarities are too close
As for the donkey lady? Could be RDR2 trying to make Two Crows more interesting with a glitch reference from RDR1, but I don't have a good answer for that.
What is the glitch reference for? I never heard of it.
Pretty much in rdr1 there was a lady u can ride as if she were a donkey. It was a glitch that got popular enough that it got its own reference in rdr2 but still don't know why its there at two crows.
@@Dat_Doggo cool. Thanks!

I like the idea of Revolver being the tall-tale version of what really happened with Red Harlow. There’s another game, Call of Juarez-Gunslinger, that shows this during gameplay.

John's "Fame" meter is secretly siphoning from Red's
I thought John was Red at first lol but I do wonder sometimes if John was at one point Red because of the scars. What I mean is Revolver wasn't originally being made by Rockstar but Rockstar got the rights. So I have wondered if John was the spiritual successor of Red since the Redemption arc of the Red Dead series was created by Rockstar. Revolver was not created by Rockstar but they took over the game and tuned it up.

But the singleplayer is where it really shines:
Although it's very linear, it never becomes boring.

I like to think Harlow is a part of Redemption, but his and his companions stories are told in those comics like the ones Jack has, making Revolvers cartoonish story fit better. It could just be the events played out in someones head as they read his stories, based on real people.
I want to say that this page is underrated, good job.
Man that version of "the house of the rising sun" is so epic.
Mannn I remember begging my mom to rent me this game on ps2 in spring of 2004 but she was reluctant cause she thought the cover was violent looking. 2:11 The legendary Jackalope! Lol I remember spending so long trying to find it and skin it to unlock an outfit.
So Revolver to Redemption is like how Terrence & Phillip was to South Park.
I also wonder this

Red Harlow is certainly one of my favorite character in the Red dead universe. I do wish for him to make a more prominent presence on the current cannon, but I see how the wacky west of revolver doesn't really mix with the current one. However, some people say that the story of Revolver is told by the sheriff, so some details could be overly exaggerated. I do think Red and company were just bad asses.

Spiderman 1977 Clearly none of us will ever know unless there’s a game that is about reds later days.
So unrelated. End of story if you want to continue the conversation reply to my comment (if you want)
