      @@chiguycellz5349 It could be a couple of things. Check the fuel line from the tank to the carb. Mine was extra long and caused fuel starvation. I shorten the line and actually removed the inline filter. The tank should have a filter built in.
      Another problem could be that the valves need adjusting. If you never adjusted them, do that as soon as possible before you cause damage to the valves. The valves on most of these bikes come set to tight as in little to no gap. What happens is as the engine warms up and the valve get hot and the gap goes away and valves don't full seat and loose compression.

The oil cooler greatly extends the oil life and keeps it from breaking down so quick. without the oil cooler the oil will get black around 500 miles ad needs to be changed. If the chain jumps tooth for any reason there is a good chance you could do some major case damage. How many miles do you have on it? The bike will run faster as the engine breaks in. That can anywhere form 1000 to 2000 miles . I only have about 850 on my bike now and can still tell it's a little tight.

    Hey Jerry so I had a question that I'm pretty sure you could answer I just hit the 600 mile mark on my SRT, the mods I have done (gutted it out exhaust, free flow air pod filters, oil cooler, & main jet is a 105) .....
    I just recently started riding on the freeway and everything seems to be okay for the most part but after about 20 minutes of riding on the freeway my bike seems to slowly decrease in speed, and when I tried to give it more throttle it bogs out and I have to let back off or downshift to go faster to get back up to speed.... Do you know what may be causing this? The bike has done this twice so far and both times it was when I was on the freeway riding for about 20 minutes and it just seems to start decreasing in speed like the engine is losing power and when I give it throttle it starts to bog and I have to go on to the service road.... Any ideas? Should I go up to a 108 engine? And I live in Texas by the way

    • @JerryHawk250
      @JerryHawk250  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With the warmer weather and engine running a little hotter you might be running a tad rich. You would need to do a plug chop to check how the plug looks at top end speeds. You can try the 108 and see if it gets worst or better. That 20 minute ride can heat it up pretty good and will lose a little power. Adding an oil cooler will help keep the oil and engine temps down and in my opinion are needed down here in the south for the summer time.

    • @matthewgray3302
      @matthewgray3302 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually do have a oil cooler installed but I believe that I have the hoses installed backwards like the suction is not on the suction and vice versa that's why I was asking a couple of weeks ago about yours like isn't the suction supposed to be on the bottom but I guess depending on the adapter as you said sometimes it may end up on the top so now I'm going to train my oil this weekend and Mark where the suction hole is that way I know for sure which hose goes where but also when you mention a plug check what do you mean by that?

    • @JerryHawk250
      @JerryHawk250  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@matthewgray3302 The color of the plug will tell you if you are running lean, rich or perfect. To do a plug chop, the next time you take the bike out on the interstate and run it the 65-70mph range as normal for a long distance. While the throttle is open, kill the engine and coast to the side of the road or on the off ramp. That gives you reading of the fuel mixture at full throttle. Pull the plug. If it's a dark brown, you are running rich. If it's grayish white you are running lean. You want it to be a light tan color.

      When you checked the spark plug, was this after a full throttle run or idle and partial throttle? With the tip being light grey to white means it is running lean. But at what throttle position? Main jet only affects 3/4 to full throttle mixture. Install the next size up jet and test it to see if it runs better or worst. If worst then go with a smaller jet. I can't tell you exactly what you need as no two bike will be the same. It takes some trail and error to get it exact.
