So after your Myrtle Beach adventure,I called Mark at Venom and bought the red sportster.. BIG TIP...have Venom do the complete assembly. For the few extra bucks the do all the work, toque the nuts and bolts. Test ride ,and send it to you READY TO Go ..just add gas....Or you could spend twice as much for a 150cc honda. your choice
After seeing Ike in that blazer we need a video of the three of you guys dressed in full wall street suits doing mud runs lol wait wait had to edit, you gotta shoot for different decades of suits style if possible!
I’d like to start this comment with a disclaimer. I’m functional, but have autism. One of my dumb dream ideas was to get a bunch of dudes together in nice looking three piece suits (this might be the white collar guy in me speaking) driving busted ass shitbox hatchbacks from the 80s and 90s, crashing into each other making a scene somewhere for nothing more than the shock value of normies. Total chaos, maximum lulz.
Thats so awesome yall made it there. My grandpa had his military funeral services on that ship you passed up last year. I was actually looking at that cafe racer yesterday online and fate brought me to this video you made. I really like that red, it would look awesome with some whitewall tires.
Just trying to help y'all out being a fellow biker but what helps me during winter weather was wearing heated thermals, thermal gloves, pants, top and hood. They'll keep your body temp normal and they can get as hot as 110 degrees and uses external battery banks. I wear thermals fleece lined jeans a sweater and winter jacket and when I ride for a few minutes I'm sweating, using those you won't need to layer so much and you'll get mobility back because that had to suck with all those clothes on but not gonna lie Ike was styling that day lol nice job and good view.
Good fun, & chuckles too! Always carried my rain gear under the seat, best defense for cold weather! Stops the heat from blowing off. Have always enjoyed your road trips! Thanx !
As long as a person has realistic expectations, pretty much ANY of the "250 class" bikes are just as fun .. but I think these are winners for the price. For anyone wondering if a little 250 is the bike for them, the answer is Yes! Started my 2 wheel life on a Rebel 250, and a couple of the kids started on 250's as well. A couple grand, ride it for a year or two, and sell it for near what you paid for it. You will learn so much about what you actually want from a bigger bike and avoid future buyers remorse. And believe me, in 40 years, you will look back and wish you still had that old 250 ...
What a great video that took me down memory lane with three layers of clothing on a new 1976 Honda CL 360 ,from Phoenix to Denver and back ! Real men don't need a Harley or leathers ! Even though I have both now .
I have a Hawk 250. It has been upgraded with all the recommended parts to make it the best bike it can be. Its been a great starter bike but my expectations are in check. I don't plan to overpower it, the frame isn't going to handle that well. When I'm ready for more, I'll step up to a different bike. I've been looking at a Ryker.....maybe.
the rubber pipe on the egr valve alowys burn throgh i tend to cap them off the unit makes no diference to running it just allows air into the exhuast to help burn unburnt fuel
You should try and find a Korean, Hyosung Harley clone. Hyosung was operated back in the day as Hyosung-Suzuki. They were imported for a few years into the US and good examples can be had cheap. They are a V Twin 250cc on a much bigger frame than the Chinese Harley clone. The, Chinese bikes were pretty cool, cheap but cool. Those bikes would be daily drivers in Asia. I lived there twice for about eight years total. Great stuff guys.... Joe
I just ordered a black Sportster. I’m keeping my expectations realistic but I think it’s going to be a lot of fun. Thanks for all the effort you put into this project and video! Very informative and entertaining!
Gentlemen, great respect for your cold weather riding, it’s so much harder to ride at 30f versus 60f, the cold literally wears you out. It was good you had to take frequent breaks for gas, ride safe!
What times recess? Narly david and son, mini something else, great ride i didn't get a go! Got the video instead.life is great with you guys come on two million!!?
my dad and i just did a trip on my 87 bmw k75 and his 98 honda magna from maryland to myrtle beach via the coast road, we were cold in the 50° weather, props to yall doing it in the 30s!
Oh, good gravy gentlemen - center stand - here's how you do it. Facing the left side of the motorcycle, place your weight on your left foot as you put your right foot on the center stand tang. Put your left hand on the left grip, and find a solid place to grip on the back of the motorcycle near and forward of the left rear shock mount (there should be a convenient frame rail or lug that doesn't have a sharp edge). then, straighten the motorcycle until both center stand feet are on the ground. Now the easy part - shift your weight from your left foot to your right foot. Don't pull back on the handle bar, and only use lifting force to get the center stand over center. Then congratulate yourselves on doing it right, and by yourselves. You're welcome. Excellent content as always except for the above .
Was trying to find a break down of everything for the USS North Carolina Battle Flag, the website isn't very helpful. But she was in the Pacific Theater during WW-II. Decommissioned in 1947 and was restored. Being turned into the world's second largest navy, the US Naval museum ships.
As a man who, back in the late '90s to early '00s, rode year round, to 2 jobs (while my wife had a Saab 9000 turbo with climate control and heated leather seats) I can tell you that layers are VERY important in the winter! Your outer layer should break the wind with warmer layers underneath. I wore a long sleeve t-shirt, 1 or 2 sweatshirts, and a leather jacket. I also had great winter riding gloves, a balaclava, and a 3/4 helmet with 2 face sheilds to choose from. I never found a full face helmet that fit my XXL "melon head" quite right. When it wasn't cold, I had a little half helmet with either goggles or wrap around sunglasses, as well as lightweight leather riding gloves. Not gonna lie, I dig that red bike! It has an old school Brit bike esthetic, like an old BSA. Clean, lean, and simple. Since my current commute is only 2 minutes, I don't need anything real big or fancy. Heck, my last bike was an '82 Kawasaki KZ650 CSR.
Pretty impressive little rides, especially for the money! A balaclava and glove liners are lifesavers on really cold rides, i rode from Seattle to portland on my 250 ninja, in freezing fog, and was in pretty good shape by the time i got to Portland
Reminds me of my commutes to work in Michigan at 25 degrees on my klx300sm. Spending a few extra seconds at every stop sign to warm my fingers up on the engine. Good times!
Tip from a four season rider: Get a set of Frogg Toggs. They're cheap rain gear, but they also function as a full-body windbreaker. I can ride in subfreezing temperatures with those, jeans and a hoodie and hardly feel the cold. Saves from having to wear a bunch of bulky layers.
Thank you man definitely ordering some as I would ride till it felt like my toes were gonna fall off this is very much appreciated you are definitely a blessing much appreciated
I had a honda rebel 250 back in 2004, I road it from washington d.c., all the way to pass Nashville TN. 700+ miles (1 way). Ugh it was horrible. It was my first ride over 100 miles. It was in the middle of the summer time. I had to get off the interstate and take the shaded back roads it was so hot that year. My body hurt so much. Also I unintentionally ended up on the dragon's tail. I had semi-trucks behind me during that leg of the ride. I could smell their clutches cooking. If you're a thrill junky, go do the dragon tail on a small bike with 5 ton truck behind you. I'll never do it again. Fast forward to 2008 I bought a Suzuki Boulevard 800 rode it for 900+ miles. Wasn't even sore from the ride.
Ike needs a tie to go with his suit jacket ,Im sure goodwill would have had some nice ones.Love the flickering headlight and the slapping chain during the burnout.
Wish these bikes had kick start as a backup. The red Sportster tires are pretty narrow. Not long ago they were selling A bike much like the Sportster, but with big wide tires, and a solo only seat. Still thinking about ordering one of these two. Thanks for the videos. You guys remind me of me, but 30-40 years ago.
Back about seven years ago my car broke down in the middle of February. I had to ride my KZ 400 back and fourth to work in the middle of February because I didn't have time to fix it do to work. I had to ride 30 miles round trip at 60 mph down the freeway. It was 5 degrees outside.I assume the windchill on the freeway was about 30 below zero. Luckily it was a dry winter.
I leave about an hour away from Myrtle Beach ⛱️ SC. I absolutely loved this episode and hope to see more about the Venom bikes..it's actually the first time I've ever heard of them.
Man these little bikes are super cool, especially for their price. Wouldn’t mind picking up one of those little Honda looking choppers for tooling around town! Also unsurprised y’all didn’t get beat up at the biker bar. As a 20 year veteran motorcycle rider (mostly sport bikes) true two wheelers don’t give any shits what kinda bike it is. 2 wheels 4 life! Cars are cool too tho.
You guys are giving me flashbacks. In '89 when I got out I rode my 79 lowrider from Orlando to Jacksonville NC. I froze my balls off. It was not fun & I had a windshield.
I would love to see this type of journey in the summer, maybe upgrade the bikes some and clean up the bugs they seem to have otherwise, keep riding safe guys, and love the content
Ike, love your style. I rode my Honda 125 across Texas once on a 300 mile Trip. My head buzzed for an hour when I got to my destination. Ike you fold dinner jackets inside out to prevent the wrinkles. Back in the 80's before fancy riding suits, we wore all of our clothes in the winter. Only thing in the saddle bags were tools, toiletries, food, and on occasion, a folded suit. My best friend even wore his pajamas under all his outer clothes. Guess y'all aren't riding those bikes back. I've had to buy too many expensive tires to ever think about burning them up like that.
Right in Guys and Thanks,. I just bought a Ghost yesterday in good part cause of your vids😢😮😅 I'm a Retired Bragg trooper and both my kids born in Fayetteville. Thanks for you guys testing them hard. I. A Noob Safe travels and God Speed
I bought a Venom because of your guys's last video it is one of the greatest things I have ever bought because you can floor it without speeding and it is amazing for two reasons for one it's not super expensive and looks cool and is super fun to ride and is stupidly easy to work on and I'm definitely thinking about getting the 450 big bore for it and two it's cheap so if it gets stolen it's only about 6 hours of work to replace
From someone who rides in ct when there isn't ice everywhere. Skin tight base layer to keep heat in. That includes nitrile gloves. Head to toe covered besides your eyes. Insulated pants, short under them and long sleeve turtle neck with a wind breaker on top of that. At that point you should be able to walk outside and not be cold. Now add rain pants and I use the 3M reflective worker winter jacket. You see them on all the job sites insulated and waterproof. It took me 2 years to find the right combo. I think the turtleneck was key. Composite toe boots can help steel toe boots will hurt. Don't ask me how I know.
Had the same taillight issue on mine. Wires were not soldered correctly and on top of that, the LEDs in the taillight fell off after some bumps in the road, so I replaced the whole taillight assembly. Same for the headlight and flashers all around.
for those wondering what the battlsheip markers mean, the islands stand for island bombardments during the US island hopping campaign in the pacific, the ship is specifically showing that they sunk a japanese merchant vessel since they are using the sun disc flag (A sun-disc flag was adopted as the national flag for merchant ships under Proclamation No. 57 of Meiji 3, issued on 27 February 1870) instead of the IJN flag, and the plane is for aircraft downed.
Riding and Upgrading chinese 125's was awesome when i first started riding (uk) i had chinese supermoto was an ols suzuki gs copy and you could get 150 kits and every mod you could think of was epic 😂 i need another 125 🤟🏽😅
Son had a Roketta and we did some mods to it and it would cruise much faster, we found a 2 over countershaft. We did some carb/intake work and would get it to cruise at 70 on level ground. Wasn't as fast acceleration but hey we got it to cruise fine. Anyone can get a big bike fast, but it takes creativity to make a small displacement bike fast. Looks like you guys had a blast.
Back in December of 1990 I rode a Honda cb450. From state of Washington to Missouri. It rained all through Oregon to Nevada. Then when I got into New Mexico it started snowing never in my life i was ever that cold. And as I rode thru Texas I dozed off a couple times scared the c#ap out of me.
I dropped down to flagstaff AZ. Trying to miss all the bad weather that was happening in Idaho, Colorado, Wyoming and Kansas at the time. Still got caught up in it when I was coming into Albuquerque NM. I was 17 and wanted to live with my Dad. So I had 1972 Honda cb450 that built over the summer. And I ran away from Home to go see him. Big mistake but a lot of life lessons learned.
great video -- use to ride in cold weather - got caught out one time , had to put news paper in my jacket to get home -- hey it worked --- liked John's long jacket
Impressive sponsored by the company means the best ones on display usually zero breakdowns don't wanna look bad but still Impressive the red one looks like a Royal Enfield
That ride to the Ferry. I almost got taken out by a Deer on those curves. I lived in Wilmington for 10 yrs and the Fort Fisher run as i called it was one of my go to places to ride too. The Battleship is a amazing piece of history to be on if you make a another trip.
Well, I spent many a year riding in cold/colder weather back and forth to work…I had an apple warmer on the bottom of my full face, ski gloves and a heavy parka. Not much fun but I did survive the cold!😝😜
Wow guys didn't even know you guys were coming through Wilmington and Myrtle Beach. I would like to have met the both of you guys. Maybe you guys or just Ike would like to come to a Cars and Coffee in Wilmington this spring or summer. Anyways love the content and videos you all put together. Looking forward to the next one. You guys have a great day and a great weekend.
I just saw a Trail Master go kart minus engine listed for sale in my area on Facebook marketplace for $100. Just like the one at Rattle Can Customs’s you showed.
Best mileage I’ve ever had out of anything was my moped. 50cc, 4 speed manual, derestricted with a 19mm carb I think. Would sit at 40 as long as there was no head wind and a tail wind would put you up to 50. I checked the mileage from multiple tanks and always got between 120 and 130 mpg. I rode it for a year and I didn’t even put in £100 of fuel into it
Cool trip on the Chinese knockoffs! They did better than expected in some people’s eyes. When you were talking about the temperature that you were dealing with, 30’s & 40’s it made me wish I was there because it’s only 1 degree above 0 here in Minnesota with a high of 7 above 0. So 30’s & 40’s sound pretty darn good to me. 🤣🤣
The Sportster reminds me a lot of the Honda CD250u (that's Charlie Delta 250, not the CB250), but one cylinder versus the Honda's two (straight twin, rather than v- or flat-twin), I'd need a twin engine, not that I could afford to buy one, even converted to GBP (£) they're way out of my pricerange assuming I wanted to eat for the next 6 months, which I kind of like doing... :P

blue threadlocker is a life saver on any single cylinder thumper
Yall need some snowmobile gear. You wouldnt even feel the cold at those temps. Get ya a 70's arctic cat snowmobile suit.
Right in Guys and Thanks,. I just bought a Ghost yesterday in good part cause of your vids😢😮😅
I'm a Retired Bragg trooper and both my kids born in Fayetteville.
Thanks for you guys testing them hard. I. A Noob
Safe travels and God Speed
Battleship NC was the absolute best fireworks show I have ever seen for July 4th when I was stationed at Camp Lejeune.
I have one too!
I have a ghost chopper and it's litttt I'm going buy one for my brother!!
@@shep8745I put like 400 miles on it in the first week going back and forth between Maine and New Hampshire
Holy shit, how much do you make??
I'm in the wrong business. What do you do for work?
Takes me a week to make that! What do you do?
"I'm gonna pop some tags" was epic Isaac! Your one liners are the best !
Riding and Upgrading chinese 125's was awesome when i first started riding (uk) i had chinese supermoto was an ols suzuki gs copy and you could get 150 kits and every mod you could think of was epic 😂 i need another 125 🤟🏽😅
I found insulated coveralls at a thrift store and ride in often. I do enjoy your road trip videos.
Wait, you rode from Washington to Missouri, and you went through Nevada and New Mexico? I think you made a wrong turn.
I believe the other badges on the ship were it's "campaign badges" or the battles she fought in.
I wonder if yall could find a smaller sprocket for both bikes to help with mph. Im sure you could find one that works!!
Impressive sponsored by the company means the best ones on display usually zero breakdowns don't wanna look bad but still Impressive the red one looks like a Royal Enfield
Oh wow you guys were at suck, bang ,blow. I live about 6 miles away. Wish I had known you guys were in town.
What a cool adventure guys! i could roll back to the start and watch it agian!
That ride to the Ferry. I almost got taken out by a Deer on those curves. I lived in Wilmington for 10 yrs and the Fort Fisher run as i called it was one of my go to places to ride too. The Battleship is a amazing piece of history to be on if you make a another trip.
I've wrapped myself in newspapers under my gear before, works well. Emergency poverty cold /wet weather gear.
Fantastic video, you guys are not afraid of test the waters and in a fun way great job. Came for the ride stayed for the vibe👍
For cold weather, put a pair of rubber Dr style gloves on under the regular gloves. It works great, hands will stay warm
Underwear at the thrift store come color coded, yellow in the front and brown in the back.
Can't believe yall came so close to me where I was born and raised and I missed ya. Next time you go to SBB let me know lol.
Well, I spent many a year riding in cold/colder weather back and forth to work…I had an apple warmer on the bottom of my full face, ski gloves and a heavy parka. Not much fun but I did survive the cold!😝😜
you guys really need to take away every surprise with that intro?????
THISSS! i prefer things to be surprises. maybe a quick glance at the future but like don't give it all away, save some surprises
Enjoy a good road trip on motorcycles, great Job guys.
Well those Knockoffs keeps going and going while an original Harley-Davidson breaks down and spends more time at the repair shop than on the road.
Wild Piglets the movie. 🤣😂🤣 500 cc of pavement pounding fury.
Great video guys! Thanks for sharing!!
The little bikes that could!💪 The little red one really didn't shine until the burnout💨💨💨
A tip for riding in the extreme cold:
Wear rubber/silicone gloves (like the ones doctors use) under your normal gloves.
Great Trip boys Great show guys ✌️
Those bikes look like they could be a lot of fun for a beginner rider
