Yup. I was getting my life together in my 20s, despite a horrible childhood. Just at the point that I felt I no longer needed therapy, a therapist convinced me I did. Then she abused me. She destroyed my life and my capacity to work. That was 40 years ago. Conclusion: the world is horrible, not just my parents. Therapy is strange. The "problem" is the world, not us.
It's like carrying the weight of the world's exhaustion on your shoulders instead of the weight of personal despair. Calling it depression might miss the mark-it's more about feeling drained, bone-weary from navigating through life's relentless demands. It's a different kind of weariness, not the darkness of depression, but the fatigue of simply needing a moment to catch your breath.
Never give up... Fight stronlgy against this situation, it is possible to win... Talk to your friend, a good friend who is able to hear you sincerely... Ask for medical help... And REMEMBER, you are an amazing person and to live is stunning!!!
Hey there, Warrior! In the face of adversity, never underestimate your strength. You're in a battle, but winning is absolutely within reach. Connect with a trusted friend who listens wholeheartedly - their support is priceless. Seeking medical help is a powerful step towards victory.
You make too many assumptions: 1. That there are any friends/family. 2. That the available medical system has anything to offer. You seem to have no idea.
Mental health is an ill-defined term. Many things can lead to malfunction of brain, including biological and psychological reasons. The way people look at mental health and the level of prejudice people have for mental health most likely highly correlate with the kind of culture/society/the environment they need to survive in. How a society defines mental illness also correlates with the values and principles a society agrees largely. Those who treat other humans cruelly should be considered mentally ill but in a lot of places in the current world they are hailed as heroes and they rule and dominate majority of places in the current world. If people with conscience can not cope with such reality and can not function normally in such a society, they are considered maladaptive and mentally ill? It seems that the bias of a society often leans towards superficially adaptive people without looking at social context and actual costs of survival in some social environments in terms of individual integrity and societal decency.
I want you to know sauna’s for me, were extremely beneficial. I have lived on the west coast now for more than 25 years and the practice isn’t part of the community here the same way it is in traditionally colder climates. Climates where winter sets in early and doesn’t let up till April, sometimes March. Sometimes not till May! At least once a month I would go spend 4-5 hours heating up then cooling quickly like in the snow or in the icy waters of a lake. When you do that it stimulates the endorphins and one will feel under the influence of something not generally felt in a regular state of mind. that was my saving grace. I was a single parent of four. Out numbered and unsupported yet I managed to complete my mission without doing something severe. These days I wish I was able to access this treatment in its more extreme form. We know public pools have sauna’s but they don’t get hot enough. People just can’t relate. Can’t tolerate the heat… they think! And then there’s all the kids in and out. 😒 I suffer from terrible depression where nothing really helps. I have PTSD and have just recently been feeling anxiety in a way I’ve never experienced before. Trust me when I say the extreme heat until you can’t stand it anymore followed by an extreme cool down ie lake, snow, cold pool for at least a 2 hour time period provides significant benefits with real relief and is an excellent relaxation technique like nothing I’ve experienced before or since!! It’s an activity that originates not only with First Nations but in severe climates where snow is a constant factor like Finland and Sweden Ice cold weather brought a love of sauna’s for me that without participating in the practise has brought debilitating depression! That’s a fact! An attitude of gratitude is helpful and by participating in the practice of sauna’s it embeds itself in my DNA and stays there for long periods of time!
Interesting. I live in the desert southwest where it’s warm/hot and sunny for the majority of the year; during the warmest months my mood spirals and depressive symptoms dip and waver to near debilitating. On the other hand, when the weather cools in very late fall through spring, my depression improves and mood lifts greatly. I wake in winter at 4am daily and take my dog on long “speed walks” through my neighborhood, breathe in the cold air and actually feel alive and content.
@@chdesigns74 I think it’s the extreme differences between hot and cold. Many people just use a shower to cool down but it’s not at all the same thing nor does it affect the endorphins the same. I can understand what you’re saying though. I’m not great in typical climate heat at all but I’ve used the sauna the same way when it’s hot out and still experience the same outcome and benefits. 😎
That's quite the weather tale! The desert's scorching heat seems to cast a shadow on your mood during those warm months, but when the cool breeze of late fall arrives, it's like a lifeline pulling you up from the depths of depression. Your winter routine sounds invigorating! The early morning "speed walks" with your dog through the crisp air must be like a shot of vitality, awakening both body and spirit. There's something magical about those moments, where the cold air seems to breathe life back into you, leaving you feeling truly alive and content.@@chdesigns74
try this is you are depressed. Go on a ketogenic diet or carnivore. Exercise every day. Get some sun if you can. again eat healthy. You can add suppelements to your routine. The most important is varioton in foods that you eat, so get salmon for those omega 3,s lots of vegetables. good luck!
You're right about the importance of a varied diet-it's like a symphony, each food contributing its unique note to the melody of health. Omega-3s from salmon are like the soothing strings, calming the mind's cacophony. And vegetables? They're the vibrant colors that make life's palette richer.
I had severe depression but a Chinese doctor found out five foods were causing it. I got rid of them and was fine. I went to a Colombian doctor, and he said I needed to take antibiotics to kill off bad gut bacteria. I refused, as antibiotcs kill off good gut bacteria and that can affect mood. Years later I took antibiotics, lots of them, for a sinus infection. The Colombian was right. I can now eat whatever I want and have zero depression since.
If anyone needs it, there's a cool little book called 30 Days to Reduce Depression by Harper Daniels that is helpful, teaches mindfulness meditations to detach from the negative thoughts and reclaim self.
Absolutely! Harper Daniels' book, "30 Days to Reduce Depression," is like a pocket-sized treasure trove, offering a roadmap for reclaiming one's sense of self from the clutches of depression. Its approach to mindfulness meditations is like a guiding light, illuminating the path toward detaching from the weight of negative thoughts.
Step 1. Dye your hair blue. Step 2. Watch CNN/MSNBC. Step 3. Pretend to be anti-intolerance while being intolerant of people you don't agree with. Step 4. Blame Trump.
I'm wondering if the sensationalism of therapy from athletes and celebrities has led to more people seeing psychiatrists, and thus skyrocketing the prescriptions of antidepressants. I'm glad that therapy is losing its stigma.
Absolutely! Harper Daniels' book, "30 Days to Reduce Depression," offers a structured path to tackle the challenges of depression. It likely presents a comprehensive guide that breaks down steps, strategies, and insights to help individuals navigate their way through difficult times. The 30-day format suggests a systematic approach, allowing readers to gradually incorporate positive changes into their lives, fostering resilience and hope.
When you feel better from an anti depressant it could be placebo effect as well. The feeling of being heard by the doctor plus expecting change to begin is enough for many who are not severely depressed to feel improvement. There is no way of quantifying serotonin. That is the one of fundamental difference between physical and mental heath treatment, in mental health the organ the doctor is treating is not observed physically. If the brain is actually the source. Another I noticed was I'm using that organ to articulate a completely subjective experience. It seems impossible to communicate.
It's like trying to paint a picture with invisible colors or narrate a story with unspoken words. The effect of antidepressants sometimes feels like a mysterious blend of being heard by a doctor and the powerful force of expectation sparking change within. For many not severely depressed, this combination alone can ignite a sense of improvement, blurring the lines between the medication's impact and the mind's innate ability to believe in better days.
Ah, Matthew 19:16-29, a passage rich in wisdom and depth! It's like finding a treasure chest full of invaluable insights about life and spirituality. The story of the rich young man seeking guidance from Jesus, eager to understand the true essence of living a fulfilled life, is quite compelling.
Absolutely! The Finnish understanding of sauna as the "poor man's pharmacy" is a beautiful testament to the therapeutic power of this age-old tradition. Saunas aren't just about heat and relaxation; they're like a natural remedy cabinet, offering a multitude of benefits for both the body and the mind.
