Nice one Johnno. Very Interesting ,always wondered how those tow truck hookup’s occurred. Getting a tow reminded me back in the late seventies a North Queensland transport company sent their WW2 era wrecker all the way to Northern Western Australia to recover one of their broken down trucks. Didn’t want to pay an opposition company to transport it back. From memory it was so low geared it travelled at 50km max. Thanks for the video. Hope the trucks back on the road sooner than later.

@@RoadTrainAdventures the morgue has a better outcome than living in that township. Almost everyone I knew has either left or, if still there, are addicts/dead. Of course, you have the surrounding communities, swan hill itself, no thanks. Been there and suffered enough.
When visiting swan hill, a day visit to the council owned ‘pioneer settlement’ a 5 second viewing of the council owned ‘big cod’ then you have the joys of leaving. And if you ever visit the settlement, just take note of the number of unused buildings. I remember a time when they had an occupancy of over 90%, now it’s lucky to be 10%. Any donations made have either been left to rot, or get sold off, with the money, not going into the settlements upkeep but into council coffers.
Yeah! It’s a hard NO, from me, and my deepest sympathies for those that get stuck in such a place.
It’s also nicknamed ‘swan hole’ by many former residents for a very obvious reason.

Well that was different. This time you were the freight. Long way to take a truck to get it fixed. Not like it is a rare beast being a Kenworth. I suppose everyone was too busy to look at it. Back in the eighties and nineties I helped out as crew on the heavy wreckers doing race recovery at Brands Hatch. We hosted rounds of the European truck racing championship. All the trucks are governed to 100Mph. They run water cooled brakes. So on the hard braking corners plumes of steam. When they crash they usually make a mess of whatever gets hit. Including the truck. The guys whose day job it was had some interesting ways of shifting the crumpled mess. As we were trying to keep to a race schedule. Lot harder than shifting racing cars or motorbikes.

@@IThinkAnAdsComing The truck racing was great for the crowds. But not so good for the track surface etc. Hence it got dropped. I remember Dave Taylor the stunt rider. Didn't know he came from Kent. Common name in that area. When they called it out at school six would stand up. Nearly as bad as Smith. Never got into the MX. Nearest I got to that was the scrambles in my local old chalk quarry in the 1960's. And Saturday sport with Dickie. The British scrambling championship on black and white TV. It wasn't called MX back then.

Yes unfortunately breakdowns happen. Hope the surgeon has her up and running again. 2 inches on a map can be a long way.
I will share a story from around 1980s. A friend was hauling livestock from Western Queensland. He came across a driver who had dropped a piston. Doug rather matter of fact said, do you know where I can get a dolly. Well yes. OK we are in business. Doug hooked 2 extra trailers on, had a couple of hours sleep. Off he went 4 x 40 footers. Next morning he radioed his son, where are you? Just unloaded at Roma and ready for a sleep. Forget the sleep, come to such and such and pick up 2 trailers.
Doug telling the story said he managed to get 11th of 18 gears at one point. Doug well may have been the first 4 trailer road train in Australia
