I did a quick search and yep. The same One Piece movie that nearly scarred me for life when I was like 9. Glad to be reminded there's more to it, like this one!
Personally I think One Piece movie 6, Baron Omatsuri is an undisputed masterpiece. The unique animation style and visionary direction of Mamoru Hosoda easily makes it one of the best films in the entire One Piece cinematic catalog.
I always thought the Bonito Flakes are alive as a child when eating Takoyaki or Okonomiyaki 🤣 That looked so delicious! Sanji would be proud if he can see it with both of his eyes!
In reality okonomiyaki is actually extremely, extremely battery (which is why I am not such a big fan---probably one of the heaviest Japanese foods) but your lighter version looks far more delicious. Also, okonomiyaki made with noodles is normally referred to as Hiroshima style okonomiyaki (whereas the version without is Osaka style). It seems the modān version you're referring to is differentiated from Hiroshima style by the fact that modān okonomiyaki mixes the noodles with the batter whereas Hiroshima style places it on top. But I've only really heard Japanese people refer to the two city types as the baseline!
@@solusprime1498 This in a nutshell is the crux of the endless debate/fight between Osaka and Hiroshima style. @ydalir, I'm surprised that you find Hiroshima style okonomiyaki to also be battery, I've found that it typically is much lighter, though that may just be my recollection from the few okonomiyaki restaurants I visited in Hiroshima. I do love that Alvin went for this style, as I think that you see a lot more Osaka style made on English-speaking TH-cam cooking channels on account of it being easier to make.
I prefer it without noodles because that's too much carbs for me, which I usually hear called Kansai style. Tokyo has a similar dish called Monjayaki, which more resembles pancakes since uses a different kind of batter and more varieties of toppings.
… Everybody’s always goin’ back and forth between Hiroshima and Ōsaka, but what about the fluffy glory of a *THICC* Kansai style okonomiyaki with extra super delux ōmori toppings, eh? >):^D
@@joshuaolmsted2865 I think because using noodles tends to mean a little less batter get's used, and also that that batter gets fully cooked. The thing that makes okonomiyaki hard for me is just the fact that its served in a sort of half-cooked state which makes it feel way heavier in my stomach. The noodles in Hiroshima style okonomiyaki break it up a bit for me in a way that makes it feel more digestible.
The next Anime with Alvin should be the giant meal in The Way of the Househusband that Tatsu makes for his wife. They even tell you what the dishes are as well!
With the okonomiyaki I've had the cabbage and fillings are mixed with some batter as well, they're not tossed on top of already cooked batter. There is a light bread-like aspect all through the dish.
Personally I think One Piece movie 6, Baron Omatsuri is an undisputed masterpiece. The unique animation style and visionary direction of Mamoru Hosoda easily makes it one of the best films in the entire One Piece cinematic catalog.
I like this seems like a play on Hiroshima okonomiyaki complete with the thin crepe like use of the batter and the use of yakisoba noodles. Kansai and Hiroshima style are delicious in their own way and I’m thrilled that Babish culinary universe has now shown both!
I love how big city people say "Your local *insert foreign country* store" as if everyone just has those right around the corner. The only grocery store in a 20 mike radius from my house is family-owned and employees half the people I went to high school with.
I think a traditional thing is to make a dashi and use that liquid for your crepe batter. I make okonimiyaki at home often and have researched it a bunch but kuddos Alvin for picking some great dishes for the B uni!
man I feel like you chose the hardest possible ways of making this/dealing with it. To be fair, I usually make the style with no noodles and the crepe batter mixed in, so there's a lot more binder. Looks tasty!
This is so crazy and pretty. You guys are super brave to tackle all that. I try to make kimchi pancakes like they do in Korea I think and I can't seem to nail the batter. I like the premade mix but I wish I knew how to do it on my own. It's amazing with all its veggies and spice for a great meal. I like it with just veggies but I'm sure the mayo and all that makes it better too. It's similar to the pancake you made before you added all the other stuff lol.
I'm not sure if you know this but...there are two one piece cookbooks the first one is called " One Piece: Pirate Recipes by Sanji" and the second one is called "One Piece Pirate Recipes: Sanji's Gut-Stuffers" they are both canon recipes.
This episode had more flips than your average SpongeBob episode, love to see more and more food of One Piece being made I'm really excited to see if you ever make One Piece' Oden
I mean his literal goal is to recreate the food named, showed, and a lot of ingredients given in a Japanese show, so it's kinda hard to match the show perfectly, but get it wrong
Dang, great work Alvin! I was worried for the first 8 times you had to transfer the okonomiyaki and/or flip it, just clenched the entire time waiting for the music to cut out!
I miss Osaka so much, it was my favorite city in Japan. Im originally from New Orleans, and something about Osaka really helped me feel at home. It really feels like the New Orleans of Japan, and America Mura kind of feels like the french quarter in vibes alone.
With this, Sanji is becoming my reason for taking the plunge and finally watching One Piece! Wow, this Okonomiyaki had so much more to it than any other ones I've seen!
Thanks for bringing our favourite anime dishes to life. ❤ Just one thing, when you’re tossing stuff in the wok, if the camera angle was just a smidge higher to show is the contents in the same shot, it would have been great. Love your work as always. ❤
Great stuff! I gotta say, watching the flour get dumped on top of the water got me to shout at the screen, haha. You're an animal, Alvin, and I love it.
Oh if that tororu kombu stuff is what I think it is, it's the bomb. had it once as a garnish for ramen in Japan. Because it's in these fine shreds, it dissolves in your mouth like an instant dashi almost.
I like how Sanji got offended and start to challenge that chef just because the cooking he saw as "mid" and Luffy praises him instead of Sanji so he can create giant Modanyaki just to flex out that chef while also trying to impress Nami only he got dissapointed that Nami isn't there
Rachels Battlecry at the successful last slide was a thing of beauty!
A somewhat shy, but clearly epic background (for now) character
Lol!! That’s an amazing description, thank you so much ❤️😂
I knew goobers would be all over that lol
Simp
One Piece movie 6 is really underrated. A mix between horror and action, and one of the best cooking scenes from Sanji? I'm all in!
👌
I did a quick search and yep. The same One Piece movie that nearly scarred me for life when I was like 9. Glad to be reminded there's more to it, like this one!
Also the unique animation style
Especially when that animation came from the same director of Wolf Children

the way they melt/move around with steam sure makes them look alive!
At the end, I did find it somewhat mesmerising the way they seemed to be waving around.
Alvin: "It is difficult to just make noodles on your own"
Babish: "WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!"

fuuny enough i like the batteryness of it and i gasped when alvin didnt mix the cabbage into the batter

My heart skipped a beat everytime Alvin flipped it 😂😂😂 Alvin is the best lolol
Anime’s with Alvin is becoming my new obsession! Very nice to see how a dish would look like in real life! Awesome vid as always!

Never change Sanji. You're the best chef that the Straw Hats could ask for!
I put my hamster in a sock and slammed it against the furniture

👍
his name is Alvin
With the okonomiyaki I've had the cabbage and fillings are mixed with some batter as well, they're not tossed on top of already cooked batter.
There is a light bread-like aspect all through the dish.
I like that Sanji is featured a lot of this show. After all, his food always looks amazing
Every time Alvin makes a One Piece dish, I fall more in love with this channel
You're telling me the Babishverse didn't do all out and make a person sized Okonomiyaki to be show accurate? I'm shocked and appalled 😂
You've been absolutely nailing it lately, Alvin! 👏👏👏
And if anyone knows about making giant foods, it’s Alvin!
Personally I think One Piece movie 6, Baron Omatsuri is an undisputed masterpiece. The unique animation style and visionary direction of Mamoru Hosoda easily makes it one of the best films in the entire One Piece cinematic catalog.
The least you can do is name it One Piece Movie 6 so people don’t start digging through its over 1,000 episodes to find where the scene is from.
Movie 6 has some of the best animation One Piece wouldn't approach until Wano
I like this seems like a play on Hiroshima okonomiyaki complete with the thin crepe like use of the batter and the use of yakisoba noodles. Kansai and Hiroshima style are delicious in their own way and I’m thrilled that Babish culinary universe has now shown both!
I like that every dish Alvin make he always share with the crew. It's nice.
Never imagined an Ooni pizza peel could work double time as an okonomiyaki flipper! 😮
Major, major props for successfully flipping that thing so many times. I’m stunned.
One round of applause for Alvins flipping skills
I just started following you about 2 days ago and one piece of my favorite anime of all time. I'm glad i found your channel for sure now
Honestly loved movie 6, personally loved how the movie showed how much Luffy really cares for his nakama
you're a breath of fresh air every time Alvin, thank you so much for every episode
Never thought I would see any videos outside of the one piece community that talks about Baron Omatsuri, what a strange world
He quite literally, made the one piece real
ive just now realized Alvin is Alvin Zhou and this is a crossover i never knew i needed
Finally an Movie 6 one piece food i need
Loved the cooking the most in the movie
The fact that I saw this video just after I watched the movie is crazy
I've been requesting this one. Thanks, Alvin.
I am beyond overjoyed you chose something from the most underrated one piece movie out there.
Nice recreation of this awesome one piece dish. 👍👌💯❤️
A dish chosen from Movie 6? Mad respect.
I love how big city people say "Your local *insert foreign country* store" as if everyone just has those right around the corner. The only grocery store in a 20 mike radius from my house is family-owned and employees half the people I went to high school with.
Would you guys ever try to do your take on a mythical dish from Toriko? What would Alvin's Century soup be like?
I gotta say... Anime with Alvin has been going on for a while now. And every episode is so satisfying.
This looks like an insane plate of food and I really want to try it. I have no concept of what it would taste like.
It's an umami bomb. It's concentrated comfort food.
this is the best cooking video i had ever seen thank you
Baron Omatsuri best OP film!! this okonomiyaki looks amazing 🤤
Thanks for helping me calm down after a scene alvin!
"You can find this at your local asian market" I LIVE IN RURAL MICHIGAN I CANT
I think a traditional thing is to make a dashi and use that liquid for your crepe batter. I make okonimiyaki at home often and have researched it a bunch but kuddos Alvin for picking some great dishes for the B uni!
Movie 6 my beloved
Really needed an anime cabbage gag in there.
This looks amazing. Btw I thought you guys had a BTS member guest starring but it was just Alvin with his fresh af new hair cut.
You guys did a great job...! Looks amazing!

One of my favourite dishes. amazing.
Imagine make it big with this recipe like in one piece

I was skeptical about Alvin at first but he's been hrowing on me to the point where I get excited about his videos. Youre a pretty cool guy, Alvin
Nunca comi una piza rellena con esa variedad de ingredientes, muy intetesante esta opcion que nos proponen
I always love seeing what ridiculous thing Sanji makes for Luffy and crew next. Its certainly one of the highlights of the series.
Okonomiyaki is amaaazing, my local Japanese restaurant always goes HAM on the bonito flakes and makes it pretty fun to eat
Great episode! Would love to see you do anything from the black butler universe honestly
I am from Osaka, this is our soul food.
I do like Hiroshima style too tho
i watched movie 6 like a few days ago and this shows up in my reccomendeds
This episode had more flips than your average SpongeBob episode, love to see more and more food of One Piece being made I'm really excited to see if you ever make One Piece' Oden
That looked so tough to flip, great work alvin
As someone that’s had okonomiyaki in Japan, this is made for youtube. Then again, the dish itself does mean “as you like” so it’s fine.
I mean his literal goal is to recreate the food named, showed, and a lot of ingredients given in a Japanese show, so it's kinda hard to match the show perfectly, but get it wrong

We would probably refer to this dish as Hiroshima Yaki or Hiroshima style okonomiyaki
Not an edible brush but a food safe brush, y'all.
Great stuff! I gotta say, watching the flour get dumped on top of the water got me to shout at the screen, haha. You're an animal, Alvin, and I love it.
Never saw Okonomiyaki made that way. They usually mix the batter and the ingredients, then throw it all on the griddle. Even the yakisoba is mixed in.
Love this anime and channel!😊😊😊
Ooh! A revisit to another anime food! That reminds me that I need to watch sweetness and lightning.
I tried making okonomiyaki in 2020 and learned the hard way that my skin doesn't like Japanese yam
fit for the king of the pirates, looks awesome
One of my favorite One Piece movies
Hi Alvin,
Please make the Bento Lunches including Binkan Salaryman Sausage from Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro Chan! Thanks Alvin.
Ao nori translate to blue seaweed, but blue and green used to be considered the same color in Japan, until the arrival of the traffic light.
Alvin: "...that you can find at your local Japanese grocery store."
Me: I'm just happy I can find soy sauce at my local non-Japanese grocery store 😂
Ukyo kuonji will always be the original goat!
Looks amazing. The cabbage became lettuce for a minute tho
Bro what are the odds that I just watched this movie today and now Alvin is making this beast of a cuisine
Who are you and what did you do with my long lost Babish

You should make oden's oden
This looks like very Japanese Lasagna, I need it
Rachel is the support bard we all need
I once had Okonomiyaki in a small restaurant in central London and I swear to this day it was one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten!
Please do the Ragout Rabbit from the SAO Abridged series. We must save my family!
Thank for this.
(That background beeping really put my teeth on edge though.)
Another awesome episode
It looks like magic
This is maybe the most complicated thing I can recall seeing on this channel.
You should do more one piece recipes
Title in an alternate universe: Making it BIG: お好み焼き.
I'm surprised they didn't use the robotic arm from the pancake episode to make the anime sized one
This whole dish is a love letter to the concept of "excess".
The One Piece is just a massive single item of food, Luffy would love it
