    Good to see a test with the Avata 2. I’ve been doing a few range tests with mine. I believe you will cover a much greater distance if you keep it on normal mode at full throttle. Apparently it is the most efficient mode to cover distance. Dji got 6000m doing this.

      I would assume Normal mode would be more efficient, i might have to try it sometime and compare both modes. Thanks for your comment👍

    I've been 5km with my dji fpv. it's tricky because the auto RTH is quite inconvenient, specially if you're climbing a mountain and know you'll use less battery on your way down. That made me move away from it and build a real long range drone with an O3 instead. Last week I made a 27km round trip with it, did 2km back and forth on a known spot 5 times and still had battery left. Flew for 40 minutes.

    i have motion controler and barely get 500 - 800 meter in distance … am I flying to low ( 20 - 30 meters ) or is the controler?

    • @CreateandKaptivate
      @CreateandKaptivate  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Really the range you get depends on your line of site. So flying higher certainly does help. And if there are lots of obstacles around, even trees and such will eventually block your signal if enough get between you and the drone.

    I see a lot of these types of videos. Are they not all illegal? Isn't any flight beyond VLOS against FAA regulations?

    Hi Mark, I found your video while surfing for drone videos in Calgary. I’m interested in purchasing a drone for hobby photography and was thinking about the Air 3. I know I need to have a flying license (at least the basic). My question is, where can I fly the drone without restrictions in Alberta? I love to fly it in nature (Bragg Creek, Kananaskis), but I'm not sure about the restrictions. Lastly, which drone do you recommend I buy? Thanks.

    • @CreateandKaptivate
      @CreateandKaptivate  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, those are all good questions. As far as where you can fly Nav Canada has a lot of information. There is also this Drone Site Selection tool that has maps showing restricted areas, and you can select sub250g, basic , or advanced. And you'll notice the restrictions on sub250g are much less than the others. That's where the Air3 would be at a disadvantage. However, having the 2 cameras allows you to add a lot more variety to what you're filming or photographing. Deciding on which drone to get is a tough decision, I think you just have to weight out the pro and cons. For instance the mini 4 pro is a very capable drone and is small and fairly discrete. Where as the Air 3 is even more capable but a fair bit bigger and not as discrete. Getting back to place you can fly. Kananaskis is a no fly zone as far as I know, and I think that includes all provincial parks and definitely national parks. Basically if I'm looking for places to fly say around Bragg Creek I look on something like the Drone Site Selection map and make sure there's no restrictions, but I don't think that includes everything so I'll usually check a parks map and if the area is not a park and there's no airspace restriction then you should be ok to fly. The DJI fly app is also pretty good for showing airspace restrictions, and will actually prevent you from flying in restricted areas, but I would rely solely on that.

    I’ve been to 5 kilometres with my dji mini2 and hovered over the mountain I went to for a couple of minutes and managed to make it back barely lol. I went in normal not sports mode as sports mode definitely chews up the juice more than normal mode. It tried to auto land at about 1250 metres out and because I wasn’t watching because I had it in auto return mode I wasn’t watching lol. When I looked again and realised that it was auto landing I pushed it further to get back. At about 700 metres the battery was at zero and it started to land again, but I just pushed up on the stick a bit and made it back. It was a scary thought that I would have to look for it in the bush, but luckily I didn’t have to.

    • @CreateandKaptivate
      @CreateandKaptivate  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In my case I was pretty sure it could make it back, I was a bit nervous at first, but if it wasn't going to make it, there was somewhere I could land and easily retrieve it. But man, you pushed it to the limit, you flew past zero, I didn't even know that was possible lol. Thanks for the comment👍

      @@CreateandKaptivate , I think DJI purposely underrates and underestimates the true battery power level so that people don’t push their DJI drones too far, so that they have a great reputation for being reliable.

    in the very first test when the rth disengaged, were you holding down the sticker, did you almost crash your drone into the freeway while not paying attention?

    • @CreateandKaptivate
      @CreateandKaptivate  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can cancel the RTH by pressing the mode button, and no I didn't almost crash, I was losing altitude on purpose just to see if I could get the battery indicator out of the orange warning.

    Is the avata 2 backwards compatable to the integras and controller 2 now? I know it wasn't b4

    • @CreateandKaptivate
      @CreateandKaptivate  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're right, initially the avata 2 wasn't compatible with the goggles integra or goggles 2. But they came out with a firmware update that makes them all compatible now. And that includes the motion controller 2 and the fpv controller 2.

      If you go into the Transmission settings from the main menu you can switch channel mode to manual which allows you to change the frequency and bandwidth. This does depend on whether you are in an FCC or CE region. I would suggest watching this video: DJI Avata 2 Free FCC Power & Speed Hack - Ham Is Back by Mads Tech. This video talks about the Avata2 but he is a great resource for drone tech and I'm sure he would have videos on the goggles integra.

    • @CreateandKaptivate
      @CreateandKaptivate  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just have mine set to auto. I don't normally get signal range like that, that's just a really good spot to fly from, excellent line of sight and very little interference. Most often my signal starts to break up around a mile or so as well.

      The avata 2 does struggle in the wind, but if the video seemed jumpy it's because it was a screen recording, which has no stabilizationm, and it was sped up.
