Thanks for presenting this rare knowledge on knob and tube safety. Many people will benefit from this. I assisted my grandfather 70 years ago to wire and perform repairs on houses and barns that had this wiring. We converted some to the then standard BX but now the insulation in BX junction boxes can crumble. The wire in the metal sheath remains viable. Economically, replacement could cost more than the value of some older houses. There is another fetish out there that replacing the fuse panel with a CB panel will improve safety. I am of the opinion that more harm can come from this than benefit because of at least the crumbling wire.
