I did this job yesterday and had to remove the ac condenser. Its a pain. The snap ring is very difficult to remove from this installed angle. Taking the bottom plug cover is easy. It uses either a socket or toex bit to remove. The snap ring will NOT go out unless you tap the plug inside enough to give the snap ring clearance to get out. Then you have to pull the plug out which is a bit difficult due to seizing. Then insert long needle nose to extract the dryer assembly tube.
So i replaced pretty much everything on my 2010 F150 Ac system but the evap coil. The air blows only at 63 and we know ot should be in the 40s. The condenser came with the bag dryer but the Ac compressor kit came with thay plastic one. Lomg story short i ended up modifying that plastic one to fit . My question is do yoi think the plastic dryer is causing a back up and not allowing it to cool properly?
Sorry it took a while to respond. What i have done entirely have good ac is. No cheap compressors. Autozone compressor was best. New Condenser because mine had a leak. Kept the sac drier that it came with. Bought a plumbing coupling to cut off heater core from water supply, and loop the sending and return hoses for that in the engine together. I also put a resistor on the evaporator sensor behind the glove box to keep the system running longer. (system thinks that the evaporator freezes and it cuts off system from cooling)
I have had several clients that wanted to replace the expansion valve because someone else told them too, and afterward, the ac was not as cold. But these valves will also stick, if you have symptoms of that it has to be replaced.
@@maquinaguitarra that's good to hear. The problem with the bags of desiccant was that they'd tear open and clog the system. It is labor intensive to remove the condenser and replace the dryer cartridge, but I sleep better at night doing so.
If you remove the whole front end and remove the condenser you can put in the original. If you don't Then you need a sack drier that I got from a Kia sorento
When you have it at max ac probably not. When you connect ac gauges to it you might see if its cycling because the refrigerant is too low or your high side is too high.
It just stopped cooling. The pressures when a compressor gives out are also hard to read when the compressor is done. They are just not very consistent.
@@sarahconklin8259 in this application it's a locking snap ring. You'd have to experience it to know that a normal removal procedure would not work in this case.

Does anyone know if it is necessary to replace the expansion valve if the reason my compressor failed was a seized pulley?
Yes, the drier and expansion valve both have to be changed to truly get a good A/C system

Yes.....its probably why the pulley failed.
Is the ac still working good with the alternative dryer from the kia ?

Hi, is normal for the compressor cycle every 7 seconds ,after replace txv and pressure switch 24 oz. Of freon on 2013 Ford f150?

When you looked at the compressor (car on) was the ac compressor turning with the clutch the whole time as if it was always engaged but no cold air?
Yup
That would indicate over or under pressure if it is engaged all the time...
Turns out, my front clutch came unbolted and popped off while driving. I replaced the front clutch, and I was good to go. No problems since.

How did you remove the snap ring? I'm have trouble removing it.
Use 2 screwdrivers or pics if you don’t have the snap ring pliers
push up on the metal cap and then use snap ring pliers to remove it
