    To save time trying to completely drain the new comp's oil (as long as it has the correct type in it), just drain the bulk of it out and turn the clutch until very little comes out, then do the exact same thing with the old compressor except measure how much comes out. That will be the amount you need to put back into the new compressor. I recommend a Haynes manual, it will tell you how much to put into the system for each ac component that you're replacing.

    It is very good and detailed film on changing oil in the compressor, so many tips, thank you very much. If I need to replace the oil fm the compressor and not sure what exactly oil is there, can I flush it out? Is it possible? With the special flush liquid, like what we use to flush the evaporator e. g. The car AC (it is 2001 Saturn SL2) works on PAG oil (that is what Shop Manual says, they don't specify which PAG of 3 types). PAG oil comes in 3 types 46, 100, 150. As far as I understand you can use any, but you can't mix them. The car was in the dealer shop like 10 years ago, and they replaced the compressor 3 times, but shortly after AC stopped working anyway. I think that is bcs they didn't replaced the Condenser, I've read that the clogged Condenser can cause the Compressor to fail. I'm replacing everything besides the Evaporator (which I will flush of course) I think. Or if so little oil is left after proper draining it doesn't matter what PAG was there? Thank you again.

    So I have a new compressor..drained like you said... so 3 oz....BUT... I ALSO REPLACED THE accumulator (charts says est 3 oz ) and receiver dryer (chart says for a dual evap it's1 oz ) and I some leaked out of the hoses when I broke them apart (3 oz as a "major leak) so that's 10 oz... they gave me 8 oz in the compressor box. But it came with an accumulator. Have I forgotten anything? I feel like I have. 2006 expedition dual evap of course front and back. Total supposed to be 14 oz.

Figure with the a/c not working a sensor is keeping blower from kickin on. Started watchin vids. Finally started giving it a good look see. Looks like my condenser was smashed in. Thinkin of just replacing everything Condenser, Compressor, Drier/Accumulator and lines. Its an old car can get an a/c kit for 250. Would probably end up changin parts on top of the condenser anyway

    Research your system capacity for the PAG oil.. replace with what your system recommends. Drain and replace with pag. Go to a local shop to evacuate the refrigerant then after your repairs get vacuumed for moisture and hold vacuum for 30 mins at least. Then charged. Your Tip! Of new compressor shipping oil leave upturned definitely 👍🏼edit to say some compressor need total amount and good to go, others distribute otherwise hydro lock and boom.

    Ok good video! Question: once you install the compressor, you said to start up the engine and turn on the compressor intermittently. I assume that this is so that the compressor will engage, and further lubricate the pulley end. But how will this happen since you havnt added freon, the clutch wont engage right?

    • @mrau92me
      @mrau92me 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Turning the ac off and on is after everything is charged up. It's got nothing to do with helping lubricate, only breaking in the clutch material, helping be sure it doesn't glaze over

    How to go about the compressor, which has a low pressure port on the bottom of its cylinder, on the side opposite to the clutch side? So the hole is located on the top how you keep it @6:07. The High port is in the same position like in the compressor shown in this film. The hole for Low P port doesn't have any oil around. Should I plugged it in before install? I removed that compressor and now need to clean properly and fill in w/new PAG 100, but in doubts about the procedure, since the shape is different fm/the one shown here. • @youtubestar
      @youtubestar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's a few reasons why the compressor may not be engaging. You could have a poor ground wire. You could also have a bad clutch coil wire have you checked the clutch coil wire to make sure it is secure and good? I know this sounds silly as well but did you check the AC compressor fuse? If all of that checks out then you either have a low pressure problem or a bad clutch coil.

    If the compressor runs/leaks out of oil would that cause your compressor clutch to not engage anymore?

    • @youtubestar
      @youtubestar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The most common reason the ac clutch fails is usually due to an open wire. Is there any corrosion on the wires? Any brittle wires not making good contact? Could be a bad clutch plate also. They do overheat and fail. But check your wiring and fuses also. That would be a good place to start.

    • @Otsp922
      @Otsp922 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@youtubestar all fuses and relays are good. I’ll do a little more wire tracing and double check all that. The clutch does free spin by hand so it’s not seized up. I noticed about a month ago when I was underneath the car working on other stuff on the car that there was oil under the compressor like it may be leaking from somewhere. It’s a remanufactured compressor that I replaced last august as well as every other component on my AC system is brand new and replaced last august. After replacing everything I went to a shop and had them professionally Evac and recharge the system and it blew cold until just this past Friday.

      Compressor comes in two halves - you’ll see the seam in the middle. U may have torqued the compressor unevenly or too tightly causing compressor to ‘twist’ if fluid is leaking in the middle - that is probably the case.
      Check the torque spec. Of the compressor bolts to engine

      I use an all in one recycle, vacuum recharge machine at my shop. On average, about 1oz of oil is suctioned from the system, and the machine can detect that and automatically add an oz of oil back with the recharge. So Id say in most cases, you are fine adding up to 1 oz of oil after a vacuum and recharge if not using a fancy machine that does it for you

    My old compressor had no oil inside... It was completely empty and stuck... I got a new Denso to install and I don't know how much oil should be kept inside... The new unit says "factory filled with oil"... I guess I shouldn't take any oil out of the new unit... Am I right?

      Me honestly, I drain every unit I receive and add my own oil. Many times I have done this and never had an issue. I have found a lot of times the unit was not filled with as much as they stated on the factory sticker. If you want to play it on the safe side, do that. If you want to leave it alone and trust them well, you can do that as well.

      @@youtubestar thanks for your reply... My doubt is how much oil should it have inside... The old one was empty and I have no reference... The new Denso unit says 150ml... Should I keep it as it is, 150ml?

      Not sure what make model vehicle you have but here is a forum where some people discuss the same issue. See if this helps.www.wranglerforum.com/threads/new-denso-471-7008-a-c-compressor-no-factory-oil.2362513/

    I didn't get a drop out of the old compressor by flipping it upside down. Looks like a drain plug on the bottom of the unit. Idk. I can't afford to have my car towed to the mechanic I can't afford the mechanic I could barely afford the new unit and the things I need to pull a vacuum and charge the thing. Just not feeling very confident about "balancing the oil"
