Colin Farrell’s initial rise to fame was meteoric. He became A-list basically right away. In his case, he was a prodigy. This was like his first “name above the title” starring role, and even at 25 (when he shot this), Farrell held the frame and captivated the audience like he was a seasoned pro.

Phone Booth is a visual masterclass in the usage of angles and top-tier acting, not to mention superbly written dialogue. It's such an underrated classic, and I'm so happy you chose to watch it. ❤
Cheers for the shoutout. Glad I can help support. Kiefer Sutherland killed this roll with just his voice. I remember my whole family trying to place the voice on the phone for the whole movie and the reveal at the end. You guys should check out ‘Dark City’ sometime if you want to see him play an out of the box roll.
Sutherland apparently wasn't even the first choice, but thankfully they got him in the end. The role needs someone who can act solely with their voice and Sutherland has a very memorable voice. And he's clearly having a lot of fun with this since the Caller is not only enjoying his work, he's got a sharp sense of humor.
Oh I'm so glad you guys are reacting to this because no one reacts to it and I always thought the story was interesting and worth the watch. And also, Denise the new hair color looks absolutely stunning on you!
didn't get a sequel probably because it was filmed late 2000, was supposed to release 01 around 9/11 got pushed back another year and with it set in NY... it just didn't/ couldnt happen i guess
YYYEEESSS!!!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! I've been telling reactors to check this movie out for YEARS! Thank you guys for watching it! 🥰🥰🥰 Colin's great in this! As is Keifer Sutherland! :) Also check out "The Recruit" from 2003!! Its Colin Farrel, Al Pacino, and Bridget Moynahan! Great spy thriller 😊
Awe thank you so much for joining us on this one! We had a BLAST with this, what a fantastic movie!! We'll add The Recruit to our list, thank you for the recommendation!!
The idea for this movie has been around for a long time. The script was originally offered to none other than Alfred Hitchcock! in the early 60's, but for some reason, he passed on it. We can only wonder what The Master of Suspense,s treatment of this script, seemingly written for him, would have produced.
One of the greatest underrated movies in cinema history its a crime. Great reaction as always! Joel Shumacher, rest his soul, was a cinematic force during his time. Loved his work and the talents he worked with!
Colin Farrell is absurdly talented and he CRUSHES this role..... the fact that Keifer Sutherland goes toe to toe with him via voice alone, is insane! Two monster talents!
One of the masterpice movies of all time! I am surprised that no one noticed "Who Do You Think You Are?!" as a persistent background quote relating to Stu's character issues and beyond. Always pay attention to the background, particularly from brilliant directors like Joel Schumacher.
Kiefer Sutherland is very talented and yeah he has done alot of good voiceactings. Videogames etc. He played Snake "big boss" in Metal gear solid Phantom Pain.
This movie shows how vastly underrated Colin Farrell is. He managed to give an amazing performance in a movie where he is trapped in a phone booth for 95% of it. Superb job.
This is in my opinion an incredible and very unique movie that not enough people know about. I am so glad you reacted to this one and enjoyed it so much. Kiefer Sutherland and Colin Farrell are amazing and to build so much tension with such a simple concept of someone being in a phonebooth is insane to me.
I love the way you two break down the movie and your analysis of the production. You bring things to attention that I didn’t even notice after many times of watching the film. It’s like watching it again for the first time. Love your channel and your reactions. Keep up the good work.
Very cool movie! Great script and acting. A similar movie using smart phones is called "Eagle Eye". It is a more modern movie that is a rollercoaster of a movie. Can you figure out how it is done? Hope you two will do a video of it soon. The ending comes full circle back to the beginning!
I'll never forget how riveting that film was-I"m first in line for anything Sutherland and this one did not disappoint. What I like about you two is how much you really like movies. It's a fun aspect of your reactions and this one was a great one!
This is one of the reasons I love you guys! Sometimes, I just open youtube and see you posted a new reaction, and it feels like I just pulled a super rare card from a trading card booster pack!
In my country, the translation to this movie is Por Um Fio, which trabslates by "by a thread" but "fio" also is the phone cord. So you're hanging by a phone cord. I remember this movie being on the tv here in Brazil when I was a kid but my parents didn't let me watch it. Now I'm gonna watch it with you guys. Also this movie made me think you'd love the suspense in Bound, by the Wachowski sisters and most of the movie takes place in an apartment. Its really awesome.
Ahh yes, the reunion of Kiefer Sutherland and Joel Schumacher(Lost Boys and Flatliners). The cool thing is this film is almost completely in real time with split screens, which is quite interesting as that was the driving force behind Kiefer Sutherland’s hit tv show 24 which was exploding in popularity the same time this film was released
Dont think ive ever commented to you guys before but great film choice and reaction to this and you guys kept paying attention not talking through dialoge or anything. I see youre reactions often. Another couple of movies to watch would be great and underrated as much as this movie arguementally is "Last king of scotland" with Forrest whittaker and "Man on Ledge" which is also another great storyline based movie and different. All the actors in this were great. ❤❤
This movie just like '12 Angry Men' shows that you don't need big action scenes, large luxurious sets/locations or expensive special effects to make an intense, gripping movie. As you said at the start 12 days filming, one location, largely focused on 1 actor, great script, amazing acting with excellent editing & you have an intense, gripping & incredible movie. I feel that movie makers today are getting lazy with too many sallow scripts (or worse remakes or cash grabs on successful films) hidden behind big name actors filmed at expensive locations/sets & specially effects to try & distract from how bad the film really is. While I love large action movies, I adore movies that rely on good scripts & great acting.
There is a movie called Cellular that is pretty intense. Obviously, it doesn't have the unique aspect of everything occurring in one place, but it does involve a life or death phone call and a lot of suspense. It's definitely worth a watch if you haven't seen it. Love your channel. ❤
Hostage negotiation movies had a good run from the late 90s to the early 2000s! Wouldn’t mind seeing you guys check out The Negotiator starting Samuel L Jackson from 98!
For one of your next reactions, I recommend _The Frighteners._ It's a horror comedy directed by Peter Jackson and stars Michael J. Fox, Trini Alvarado, Jeffery Combs, Jake Busey, and Dee Wallace Stone. EXTREMELY underrated flick.
Thank you for watching this movie, it's such an underrated gem that got forgotten, so few people know about it when it's a complete real masterclass.. Such a simple yet original starting point, only one location, barely a few actors, the 2nd main protagonist being only a voice (and what great, charismatic, chilling voice it is), no need for explosions or anything of that sort, barely any shots as well, just the chilling menace of an unknown guy who's got you in his scope. Most of the movie is just monologues, and look at the performances. Colin Farrell is incredible and so believable the whole movie, both as an asshole and a terrified, desperate guy who finally comes clean in this dramatic situation. That final monologue to come clean makes me tear up everytime. Kiefer Sutherland is just a voice, or almost, and he scares you the whole movie, plays with you, sounds one moment like a crazy lunatic and then the next like a well-thought cold blooded murderer with whom you won't get any second chance. And what shine as much as the performances in this movie, are the dialogues. Considering the movie is almost entirely made of conversations, it could have been terrible or just okay, but they really hit it out of the park with those and it compliments the actor's job so well. It's real, believable, grounded, deep, and doesn't sound like it's just made for the movie. It gives that real intimacy feeling we get in the booth between the guy and the shooter. And what to say about the score ? Nothing extraordinary at first glance, yet so good and complimentary of the movie. So stressful, intense, making your heartbeat race, just like that 11:17 moment, how cool was that? The editing, the sound and the immediate start of the stressful music. Damn I love this movie. Watched it since I was like maybe 7 or 8 (without fully getting it of course), yet I already loved it, and I still do.
This is such an underrated movie and Colin Farrell doesn't get the credit that he deserves as an actor. I'm so glad you guys decided to watch this movie. It's definitely one of my favorite thrillers and a good morality tale.
I went to see this film on the cinema back in 2002. I was 12 but also mind blown by it. People have forgotten how actually big this movie was back in the day, there were adverts for it EVERYWHERE. It was the breakthrough film that put Colin Farrell's name on the map. Really great thriller.
Now, gotta watch Cellular. It's also really good and has that "can't end this call" idea behind it. sidenote, Kiefer Sutherland has such a nice voice. GOD!
I love this movie so much. Kiefer Sutherland is amazing and Colin Farrel is superb as well, the way they both play off each other. Glad that you both enjoyed it as well.
Michael Bay was in talks to direct this movie, but after he read the script, his first question to the writers was "How do we get this movie out of the f***ing phone booth?" So they went looking for someone else 🤣
i would have loved to see more of these Phone Booth storylines done by Kiefer Sutherland he's a great actor especially Colin Farrell's performance unforgettable. Editing, filming and directing was superb too one of my favourite movies of all time.
I’m so happy that you guys chose to watch this one! I thought I was gonna be bored out of my mind when I rented it back in the day. Boy was I wrong. Impressive by Farrell, Kiefer and let’s not forget Whitaker 🙏🏻 Good one!
First movie my then girlfriend and I watched together. 20+ years on we still reminisce and remember that evening fondly. We actually bonded over discussing the details from the movie. Great reaction guys.
So happy that you found this underrated gem😊 One of my favourite thrillers with great suspense and great performances by Colin Farrell and Kieffer Sutherland(he created a really memorable villain just with his voice) and great directing. Such a shame that Joel Schumacher is generally associated with that shitty Batman&Robin film, while he has some great thrillers under his belt(The Client, Falling Down, Time To Kill).
I’m so glad you mentioned the others J.S has done. A Time To Kill is another one of his truly great directorial films. The pairing of great acting and directing keeps you engaged throughout a majority of his films.
Hi! I haven't watched the video yet, but I just wanted to say that the two of you have such soothing voices. I've loved all of the reactions I've seen from you and I just love listening to you talk. Looking forward to the reaction, as always, and hope you have a GREAT weekend!
I very much look forward to every new reaction from you guys. I can't remember what movie I started watching you guys from, but there hasn't been an upload that's left me disappointed. Your chemistry together, your perspectives, and of course your reactions always always always hit. You deserve every sub gained and yet gotten.
I remember that Joel Schumacher got tons and tons of hate for the Batman sequels after Batman Returns but it was like people forgot that he directed some kickass, awesome movies like The Lost Boys and this movie. Not to mention, he was merely the director of those Batman movies. Not the writers, not the producer, and that it was Warner Brothers that wanted Batman to be less dark, less “frightening” to kids. The studio wanted the bright campiness from the 60s. Awesome reaction to this movie! ❤️
I adore this movie. I hired it at random from an actual video store back in the day. That one line, "I'm just flesh and blood, and weakness..." I've used it in at least three different scripts over the years. No shame. Its beautiful.
I was 17 when I saw this in theaters and have loved it forever. So underrated. The release was delayed bc of the DC Sniper incidents of 2002. It was so thrilling and now almost feels like a period piece 😄 Kiefer is INCREDIBLE with just his iconic voice. I'M A GANGSTA. I DON'T GOTTA BE REASONABLE.
Had the same issue with the voice all the way through. Me and a couple of my mates watched this film when it first came out, about twenty years or so ago. Great to see your reactions guys. This is a great film anyway, but to see a new generations reaction is simply priceless. Keep up the great work guys. I might have to watch this one again, really enjoyed this one 👍😎 This film was around the same time that Keifer was doing the series 24, and the fact that people including myself struggled to recognise the voice in this is just amazing. Very sinister tone he had for this, brilliant, but let’s not forget Colin’s performance in this, that was second to none too
*WOAH I was NOT Expecting this GEM!!!!! I used to have this on dvd when i was a kid lol. This movie basically got me into this genre of stationary movies lol. where you're either in one spot 99% of the time or 100% lol. Movies like ATM or Buried. btw i SERIOUSLY recommend Buried (2010) if u want a stressful movie for this month😂*
Ahhhhh the good old DVD days!!! Ahahah a stressful movie, you say?? We accept 😂 Thanks for the awesome recommendations, we're so pumped to check them out!
The ending is actually so powerful - it's a happy ending, but with a caveat - Stu needs to stay honest in order for things to work! And then boom - you hear the next victim's voice as the screen fades to black. Just so good!!
A similar film to this, which came out at the same time but gets nothing like the attention, is Liberty Stands Still, starring Wesley Snipes. I think it went straight to video, as we used to say back in the day :) I love that film, it is very underrated. But if you want a great phone movie, Jason Statham, Kim Basinger and... a very young Chris Evans in Cellular is a great little film.
the story can still work today, with modern tech.. just because we have smart phones and can be on the other side of the world in a heat beat with it.. we can and are ultimately in our own little space.. and can just as easily be confined to it with one simple phone call
one of the most unique and original and underrated movies of 00's. the fact the who move takes place in a phoenbooth and keeps you at the edge of your sit it genius
So, at first I actually thought this was going to be about the movie "Cellular" because I got the titles confused. I worked at a video store many years ago and this was just one of the many that I borrowed while working there. During your reaction, I found myself holding my breath for a lot of the movie and that was my same reaction the first time I saw it. There were things you two pointed out that either I forgot or didn't even notice the first time around. This was such a fun time and I'm glad you reacted to it. Looking forward to the next one :--)
This is one of those iconic movies that I watched so many times literally an amazing just one area type movie that they made it work and just a guy in the voice and Stu having this unbelievable dynamic. I feel like nobody reacts to this movie enough there is a lot of movies out there that you don’t people react to because not one of those iconic most famous movies but phone booth is top-of-the-line amazing and not appreciate enough

I’m so happy that you guys chose to watch this one! I thought I was gonna be bored out of my mind when I rented it back in the day. Boy was I wrong. Impressive by Farrell, Kiefer and let’s not forget Whitaker 🙏🏻 Good one!
Guys, thank you both so much! I haven't seen this movie since it came out. Great reaction Cheers Australia
You guys brought it back with this one. I haven't heard or thought of this movie in YEARSS, but definitely a GREAT watch 👌🏾
Great movie. Nice to see that people are finding this gem. Here's another gem that flies under the radar. "Mr. Brook" Starting Kevin Costner
This is such a tight play; it doesn't run for long but you're with it for every step. So glad to see you both watch this!
Farrell's best performance is from the movie In Bruges. Fantastic movie.
First movie my then girlfriend and I watched together. 20+ years on we still reminisce and remember that evening fondly. We actually bonded over discussing the details from the movie. Great reaction guys.
This used to be on HBO all the time and I was magnetized to it the first time I randomly turned it on.
This was a really fun and completely unexpected movie. Everybody absolutely KILLED their roles, big and small. Great choice!! Love you two!!!
I was so happy to see this reaction pop up! This movie was a favorite of mine back when it came out.
Don't forget 9mm
Wb doesn't know what they want from DC movies, they tend to flip flop on their decision
The voice of the Bad guy in this is Kiefer Sutherland
This movie is underrated!
criminally underrated
Totally agreed, this movie should get wayyyy more praise!!
I adore this movie. I hired it at random from an actual video store back in the day. That one line, "I'm just flesh and blood, and weakness..." I've used it in at least three different scripts over the years. No shame. Its beautiful.
Sutherland's voice twinges inspiration for Ledger's joker.
_Correct._
Incredible film, so much tension! Loved the reaction, thanks you two!
This movie was ahead of its time for it to have been shot the way it was. So a Dynamic movie.
4:55 Hey that's "Runner" from The Pacific. ☺️
Ahahah the I don't gotta be reasonable part had us wheezing 😂 Absolutely loved this movie, it was just pure fun and thrills!
@@OfficialMediaKnights Big Q played by the always incredible Ben Foster
@@OfficialMediaKnights Awesome! Lol it also has Ryan Reynolds😂
So fun to watch you guys experience this! One of my favorites!
Unironically saw this as a wee lad and enjoyed it, so this was a pleasant surprise. The ending to the film stayed with me for a while, not sure why.
The ending is actually so powerful - it's a happy ending, but with a caveat - Stu needs to stay honest in order for things to work! And then boom - you hear the next victim's voice as the screen fades to black. Just so good!!
"Stuart, talk to me, please! Talk to me! I can't take it, Stu! Please, ah!" That part made me laugh so much.
This is my first & favorite Colin Ferrell movie ever.
Nice, as always great and unexpected choice, unlike other channels
Thank you, that's so kind of you! Hope you enjoy!
the story can still work today, with modern tech.. just because we have smart phones and can be on the other side of the world in a heat beat with it.. we can and are ultimately in our own little space.. and can just as easily be confined to it with one simple phone call
I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU REACTED TO THIS MOVIE! I love it so much!
one of the most unique and original and underrated movies of 00's. the fact the who move takes place in a phoenbooth and keeps you at the edge of your sit it genius
I remember watching this randomly at as a teen and it blew my mind, so underrated!
I'm so glad you two are reacting to this film. Collin Farrell and Kiefer Sutherland are both amazing.
Right?! Absolutely loved their performances in this!
Who else was yelling at the screen saying "The voice, it's Jack Bauer!"
I was yelling "The voice is David from The Lost Boys!"
I was hearing the tick tocks between scenes like i was watching 24 lmao. i love the dudes voice. no diddy 😂😂
Sgt Roebuck
Hey guys thanks for your reaction to this great way to underrated movie. Keep on watching and reacting.
On the same note you should totally see Cellular with young captain america ❤
