Maybe you could show us what you do for warmup? Foam roll? Or just rotator cuff stuff and would you recommend doing this workout twice a week, or just once and the second time a bit easier? Love your content, wish I could afford paying for your programs! Love from Sweden.
1 time a week...the 2nd chest workout drop the barbell work so you don't beat up your soft tissue. Our warms were a bunch of sets on the machine press today.
I really like the idea of BASIC workouts. I'd wager most people watching your channel are not professional bodybuilders, just average folks who get in the gym and lift a few times a week when they can budget the time. Personally, my lifting days are 2 leg days with squats and deadlifts, and 2 upper days of pressing and rowing. Seems easier to stay focused. I regard the sessions as a dose of medicine, just slam down and proceed with life.
John, first of all, you're the best. I've been training for 43 years (I'm 65) and I am still learning thanks to you and your videos. My question is, I assume your RPE on the 3rd set of 8 is a 10. What would the RPE be on the first and second set. Thanks for your time, John.
Completey agree on what you said about strength john , every time i step in the gym i wanna get stronger but not at my expense of form or at the expense of the tension being taken off the muscle i preach heavy weight good form a nice stretch and a good squeeze is the way to go.
John, I wish you would come out with a routine for us guys who can’t handle the higher volume. I’ve tried two of your routines before and I burned out after about three weeks. I just can’t recover from that much volume but I love higher intensity. I want to be able to put on size but I haven’t been able to get past basic strength training.
Hey John, I really appreciate your training videos. I do chest fly's before I do any of my press exercises, just to get blood in my chest. I noticed you do them at the end and the press exercises first. Can you recommend something to warm up my chest other then flys at the beginning?
JOHN i so need a shirt that says. "My Second day" on the back of the shirt...on the front it should say "just glad to be here" ...place emogie as needed 💪
Hey John..I noticed you did 12 total working sets. Im going to do this on my chest day but should I do a second chest day as well later this week once I recover or is this enough for the whole week?
I wish you guys would show the kind of warm ups that you do before you get into the heavy lifting you think maybe you can do that one time show how you guys warm up first
Hi John! I have bicep tendonosis and rotator injuries. I can't do much for shoulders - no overhead presses or side laterals. But incline presses on the smith machine doesn't hurt at all. Will that build my delts (even thought it's for chest)? Any other exercises you recommend? Thanks!!!
Hey Mr. Meadows, Was wondering if you have any advice regarding grip-width on bench press exercises. I'm on the tall side of things (6'2'') and I just cant seem to find that sweet spot that best targets my chest. I also want to thank you for all your help throughout the years (even tho you have no clue who i am). About 6 years ago when I started training at 16 I was given your name by a few trainers I look up to (Iain Valliere, Joss Monette), who in turn look up to you as one of the best in the industry. I have happy to say that they did not lie. Since then I've been lurking in the shadows, following your youtube and reading all your articles on t-nation from way back. In all honesty, and without trying to butter you up, I credit alot of my progress to your methods, which are not only practical and creative but also put an emphasis on safety and long-term health, an emphasis which I am happy you taught me from day one rather than later down the road when it's too late. I also appreciate your honest, no-nonsense approach, and your consideration of skill-level and enhanced/natty status while giving out advice, which has allowed me to progress safely into your more advanced techniques. All too often I find it difficult to take advice from some of the "big names" out there when it's painfully obvious that advice is for non-nattys. This also applies to your attitude towards supplements/affiliations, which are not only transparent, science-based and bullshit-free (something desperately lacking in the supps industry) but also seem to be top-notch in quality though I unfortunately cannot confirm it myself as they are simply too expensive for a canadian student (damn exchange rate and shipping). Sorry for the bible, this was supposed to just be a question about bench grip but I just thought you deserve to be reminded of all the people you've helped though you may not always be aware of it. As always I look forward to your next video.
mountaindog1 usually too much front delts, they get tired before pecs do. I've tried the usual tricks (shoulder blades back and down aka "packed"), keeping bar 1 inch from chest, etc. So i was just wondering if you have a prefered grip width that helps you best target your chest
Outstanding.like the free weight sessions alott better. Also wish I didn't have to be a truck driver and have the time that you do.to work out.thanks many times
Where should people stop on a regular flat bench press or dumbell press? I've always thought that a 90 degree elbow bend is perfect form, which means the barbell doesn't need to touch the chest and can stop a few inches above. Does the same thing you said about incline bench apply here for the flat bench press?
I need some help guys. I am over 30 going for 32 actually been training for a bit over a year and I started noticing shoulder and elbow pain. Was asking myself if this could be caused by going too low with the bar while bench pressing. Currently I am following what most fitness youtubers tell you to do. Go all the way down until you touch the chest, while maintaining an arched back (trying to be a contortionist pretty much) and all the way up, making sure you lock out the elbows at the top. I am starting to doubt if that's good for the long run though.
John is a great channel love the videos, great content. LOL please stop using overlapping music because it’s a distraction. I can’t tell if that was a mistake or if it was intentional because there’s actually no transitions but other than that your videos are awesome
For another great chest workout check out this amazing video: th-cam.com/video/EqXn-KAHxK0/w-d-xo.html&list=PL2955620A11D03694

My man
8:00...Does it make sense to go from incline barbell to the incline machine...isn't a similar excercise?

John a strong mtf
Well I did your chest workout tonight and had a great pump from it. Had to train by myself and worked up to 265x5 on incline bench grest video thanks.

Bro got some big ass arms, like dafuq
Seth a fucking Monster..
Born and raised in Dayton (Beavercreek) Another excellent video. The music sounded like Mission Impossible on roids.
Thank you Tim
Hey John.. old video but what brand are those elbow sleeves? I like that they dont cover an entire half of the upper and lower arm
iron rebel
any tips for increasing incline bench weight?
work on shoulders hard...you need good shoulder stability!
Is this suitable for a bro splitter hitting chest once a week
yes
I've always caught hell doing incline barbell presses any advice on technique enhancement John?

John, is that first movement the Prime incline press or flat press?
at the end of the video john, you said being strong isn't going to make you massive that comes from how you train.. how exactly do you mean?
push for strength, but it doesnt always guarantee size (when achieved by low rep training)
So on the incline you just keep going up in weight till you can’t get 6 clean reps out? Mean workout btw.👍
yep
John is a great channel love the videos, great content. LOL please stop using overlapping music because it’s a distraction. I can’t tell if that was a mistake or if it was intentional because there’s actually no transitions but other than that your videos are awesome
What angle it the incline? 30 degrees? Thanks
20-30
