So crazy! I've had a desire for black tea so I bought a ton of it. I drink about 3 cups a day and have flushed so much water out of my system. I have a severe case of edema with seriously swollen feet, legs and ankles. Its been this way for about 8 years. Now, my legs look almost normal!

Wow, thats brilliant! I'm looking for ways to lessen the swelling in my ankles & feet. I'm so glad I saw your comment! I juice 3-5 celery stalks a day and drink & I've cut out sugar which DEFINITELY helps but I'll try black tea now & see how I get on with it. Will any grocery store-bought black tea do the job or do you drink a particular type?

Dr. Eric, your talks are so much more than any office visits I have ever encountered! Most times is a long wait in the waiting room, then a speedy in and out of the doctor's visit. It's sort of like running cattle through the inspection process! Thanks for your comprehensive explanation of what is going on.😇

PSA: I have patients whose kidneys failed after they were given prescription diuretics. Herbal diuretics are probably much more safer than the prescription.

I was give furosemide as a diuretic by a doctor. But it has the word 'FLUORIDE" in it and fluoride is a toxic chemical. So I did not take them. Wasted visit. Those doctors/nurses did not want to see me any more. They turn out to be drug pushers of the worst kind. Vitamins and foods are the best medicine.

@@hummingbirdbumblebee4618 I00 percent agree with you. Unfortunately I'm on it and hate it more than anything because I know it's hard on the kidneys. I was prescribed with thru diagnosed me with heart failure and said my heart is leaking fluid. Nobody knows how or why only thing I'm told is it's a string of bad luck🙄 I'm been trying for years to find a Natural fast acting direcutic but Lasix is the worst but the strongest. My father recently has been diagnosed with CHF. He gets water build up and his doctors put him on a daily diuretic. However he’s worried about it damaging his kidneys. Recently he picked up a natural supplement which has many of these herbs and vitamin B1 as well. After just taking two tablets he did not need the diuretic for 7 days. His weight was stable during that period. He’s much happier if he just takes a pill once a week as opposed to needing the diuretic everyday. Plus I don’t believe these herbs will damage his body whereas the medicine will.

So, last night, I decided to have watermelon and pineapple as my dinner. I kid you not, I woke up so many times to go urinate I barely slept. I've always had this issue and excessive urination, but this last year of living outside the U.S. and having to change my diet, I've noticed the excessive urination subsided. But this last week of me working, my diet changing again, the excessive urination has returned during the day. My choice of dinner last night, the frequency of bathroom visits plus the fact my lips are feeling a bit dry makes me feel dehydrated so my question is:
    1. Is the water I'm releasing needed by my body to stay hydrated?
    2. Does my body know when to stop, to keep my body hydrated?
    3. My feet aren't too swollen, so is this water retention bad for me?
    4. Is all this water release good or bad, if I'm starting to feel dehydrated?

When I took a look at the results of my tests I saw that several were border line. For example my B12 was 50 and the normal range is 50-150, iirc. That is not a normal test result. That is B12 deficiency. I hope YOU, yourself took a look at your results. Wish you the best.

*Hibiscus* makes me pee like mad; I can't take it at night or I'm in the bathroom all night (and I never get up otherwise). If I'm retaining water for any reason I mix *_1 tsp of organic hibiscus powder and 1/3 tsp of organic dandelion powder_** in a cup of water (with stevia for taste) and, bam, I'm down 2 lbs in 24 hours* without changing anything else.

I'm only 27 and already starting to get water retention in the lower part of my calves even though I bike every day to and from work and the store. i don't have the best diet but I didn't think it was that bad either, guess I need to think twice and try harder. I'm going to my local herb shop and I'm going to greatly reduce glucose from my diet. Working at a ritzy bread/pastry shop that gives me free stuff everyday doesn't help, but what's life without a little discipline :)

I didn't go mad, a few teaspoon and made my tea, drank it and within 30 minutes I peed like I've never peed before, on an on and on it went (I'm male btw) it got to the stage where I had right and left lower back (kidney area) flank pain as I was peeing.
Not sure if I'll try it again but yep. That cleared out the pipe work alright.

Haha. I drank the stinging nettle tea to try to get rid of bloating over 3 yrs ago. It did absolutely nothing. I ended up in the ER with stage 5 kidney failure and the doctor looked at me and said: "Yeah, no tea was going to fix THIS !" 😃

    • @Kleinochsenfurter
      @Kleinochsenfurter 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

@R C Well when I was pregnant I had lots of swelling and was told I had pre-eclampsia and to lay off the salt. Then eclampsia. I continued to have edema after the pregnancy and I was told to lay off the salt some more and to lose the baby weight and it would get better. I saw 2 more different doctors and all said they didn't know why I didn't feel good and why I couldn't shed the pregnancy weight. I was just eating to much food and eating to much salt. Could not convince anybody otherwise. It was not true at all by the way. I ate pretty healthy.
My bloodwork was always fine they said. But I kept saying something was very wrong. Eventually I just quit going to the doctors. None were helpful anyway and just made me feel worse with each visit. So I just ate right and took my vitamins and let the swelling in my legs come and go. Sometimes I'd be better and then I'd swell worse again. Then around March of 2016 the bloating got really bad and by the end of June swelling was so bad among other problems but I refused to go to the doctor or hospital. Bc I didn't want to be told there was nothing wrong and to just lay of the salt or change my diet. On July 1st I was minutes away from death and finally agreed to go to a hospital. It took me 4 hours to make it out of my bed and to the car. I passed out on the way to the hospital. I don't remember a thing or my first dialysis treatment. Over a period of time I had 100 lbs of nothing but fluid removed!!! No wonder I felt bloated. The majority was gained between March and July but probably before then as well just not as bad. I dunno what hurt the most? The doctors accusing me of eating badly or my friends, coworkers and spouse accusing me of pigging out in secret because nobody saw me eat, only drink. But I was getting "fat" so I must have been eating lots. When actually I didn't feeling like eating a thing. So yeah I was born with a kidney disease and never knew it. The symptoms where there but always got diagnose as something else. Maybe it was better not knowing? I dunno. Hard to say. Outcome was the same. Probably saved myself a few hospital and doctors trips in my lifetime. Better than the few years of getting wrongly accused of poor diet habits from 2002 on.
By some miracle I made it to 49 yesterday 🙂. And maybe by some miracle they'll perfect 3D printed kidneys soon? That would be totally awesome!!! 😇

You should always be drinking healthy amounts of water anyway. The only reasons not to increase your intake would be if you have a kidney disease & your nephrologist puts you on fluid restriction, if you're diagnosed with congestive heart failure, or your sodium is excessively low. Otherwise, drink up!

Anyone know if Furosimide can cause weakness? Like it being super effortful to walk? My dog is on this and the point is to get water out of the body but instead he is just constantly thirsty and yet finds it effortful to walk. If it pulls water from all over the body wouldn’t it makes sense that it weakens you? Because it’s not just pulling water if most of the body is made of water. Somehow some way it is making my dog has deficiency. Need to move onto natural diuretics. Lord have mercy.
