That is the best takeaway drill I have ever used. So simple and yet so effective. Really shows the feel of a correct takeaway rather than hitting a position that looks right but isn’t. Ball compression was way better and I think it has cured my overswing where my right arm would get behind me.

Probably the best golf instruction videos out there. Playing good golf is quite simple, it is us who complicate things and Chris is a testament of how simple and easy it can be. Keep up the good work. Greetings from Southern California

This might be the best takeaway video I’ve seen (and I’ve seen a lot). Well done! I’m very impressed with several of your videos.

Great video. I´d love to see a continuation of this videos from the end of the takeaway to the end of the backswing. You can´t find many video on this subject on youtube.

Agree, especially on the left wrist as once the takeaway reach parallel I have problem hinging especially on longer clubs.

Great takeaway lesson. Your method of building the takeaway into the final swing is genus. I look to implement this into my swing as soon as possible. The takeaway has be an issue for me for quite some time. I can not tell you how many good rounds have be ruined by swing fatigue occurring over the final few holes.

@@ChrisRyanGolf brilliant...the takeaway as always been my downfall as I get it behind me so there is no width. This drill is great and something I will be able to do in the house. Keep up the great work.

You've got such a good swing chris. It's one I try to model. One thing that got the takeaway ingrained for me and made it be never a problem is I feel like I almost drag the clubhead away with it feeling like my hand are going first. I learned that one from Mr. Short Game's channel. I have to give him credit there. This is an awesome drill too that you're teaching here.

Hahaha, how strange…. I literally filmed a video on that exact topic last week, although that was for me FB page, but yeah I also love that drill and it’s one that I use a lot for my game, makes my swing look 👍

Thanks Chris. I've been following you for a while now - also your articles in Today's Golfer. This exercise has really been a great help to me. Struggled with the takeway for a long time. I play off 6 and have always relied on my hands to make up for being out of position at the top of my swing. Now that you've helped fix the takeway for me, I'm able to get back to impact with far less effort. The quality of strike, distance and consistency are all much better. 👍

I know this is an old video but hopefully you’ll see this and respond. I think this may be my consistency issue. I’m bowing my lead wrist immediately at the takeaway and closing the club face. My big miss is a pull hook. Would this cause such a miss?

  • @franko.beatsthealternative2450

Great drill and video. You suggested foot spray to determine strike location on the face. I hit 13 of 14 fairways but the strike is halfway between center and heel. Any thoughts on how to get a consistent center strike.
