  • Learn how to take the golf club away in the backswing. The first move in the backswing we call the golf swing takeaway. For many golfers learning to get a great backswing takeaway feeling can transform the overall look and simplicity of your golf swing.
The downswing in golf takes just half a second to complete leaving you very little time for your body to adjust to mistakes you may have made in your golf backswing. If you can learn to perfect the golf swing takeaway and then know to how the body and the wrists work complete your golf swing the golf downswing becomes almost automatic.
In this weeks golf lesson you will learn how to develop the feel necessary to do it every time with your driver swing and your iron swing.

    ABOUT DANNY
    -----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On TH-cam and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumbleI’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Thank you so much Danny. For 30 + years i have been coming over the top on my downswing mainly due to my bringing the club-head inside too soon during my backswing. Flexing the left side whilst extending my right ( trail) side during my backswing (takeaway) has magically resulted in a better release , follow through and much straighter shots. You are the best! Simple , easy to understand yet super effective!

Thanks Danny! The last couple months I’ve been struggling with drawing my approach shots too much- about 10 yards. That’s a tough angle to come in from so I’ve been trying to straighten it out a bit. I’ve watched a lot of videos and tried several things (more open stance, more out to in swing, faster hips), but still struggled. Yesterday it dawned on me to re-watch your videos on takeaway. This immediately fixed my problem as I realized I was taking my backswing a little behind me and rotating a bit more than pivoting. I was able to straighten it right out as well as practice a small fade or still hit a strong draw when I may want to.
Your instructional videos are excellent and I really appreciate you!

Here a question . I saw a tip from Sir Faldo regarding the take away . He places a club on the ground and uses that to train you’re take away parallel to the club on the ground . As I see you are doing the same However you are very much body movement

    Hi,Danny,
Really great video and explains the backswing beautifully.
I had a dose of the shanks recently and went to see my local pro. He has sorted me out, thankfully, but when I had a few lessons a few years ago, I was told, at parallel to my feet line, to have the toe of the club pointing to the sky. This is where you have yours in this video. However, the local pro insists that I have to get the club face ‘looking at the ball’ longer and, at parallel to the ground, actually closed and still looking at the ball. A little confused now.

Danny, Love your backswing take away tip. It has helped be to take the club straight back with a coordinated arm/body move and turn my front shoulder down during the backswing rather than around, and especially put pressure on my right heel and front toe prior to swinging forward. This has helped me from moving my front foot which resulted in inconsistent shots. You are my number one golf instructor. Stay safe and healthy.

  • @Robertoknowit
    @Robertoknowit 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I went for years with a wide backswing. Your catapult concept changed that for me. This vid reinforces that idea. With my wide backswing I could never clear my hips either. That caused a lot of pain getting through. Extension and flexion concept is hard to visualize but really allows freedom through the ball impact area. Thanks again, Danny.

After watching Danny's simple instructions on how to properly turn, I went from topping and chunking everything one day to striking consistently well the next day. Golf is fun now. Thanks, Danny!

This might be the best golf video I’ve seen. In being obsessed with getting more hip rotation I’ve been rotating too much with my irons and they’ve fell to peices. I used to feel so much more natural with my irons in my swing and didn’t know why I felt robotic now but this explains it. More up, less round. Thanks Danny!

Massive 'ah-ha!' moment from this video. Had a great lesson this week from a chap I think you know, Milo King, who identified a slight tendancy to get 'inside' which was making the swing shallow and contributing to a fat shot. Getting the club back less inside was causing me to feel like I was sliding right, but focusing on that extension of the right side made me realise I wasn't, I was just getting out of my own way and preventing that flatter inside move. Drilling this all weekend!

When setting up with the driver you have a certain amount of side tilt in the trail side.
During the back swing you say we must have side tilt in the lead side, but doesn't that take away the side tilt in the trail side? 🤔

You say take a coordinated backswing with body and arms together, but then show the split-hand drill, where wrists are cocked at parallel to ground. Since wrists aren't cocked at address, I'm struggling with how to get from address to parallel. It seems there has to be some conscious thought of hinging between these two points to get to the split-hand position. Can you help , please?
