Phil is the man of 80s music! He did everything from happy and fun pop songs, dark and haunting shit, rock stuff, to beautiful heartbreaking ballads like this.
His vocals and the music had me crying at the end. This is such a good song. The lyrics really fitted in the complexity and the song. This masterpiece should never be forgotten.

Am I the only one who has always loved this music video?!!! It encapsulates the lyric so powerfully and the emotion plus blends so well with the intensity of the movie "Against All Odds" as well. Just perfection.
Phil Collins Against All Odds is one of my favorite song!I remember one of gentleman sing Phil Collins Against All Odds in America's Got Talent after losing his wife in the Helicopter crash that killed Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant!
I miss the 80's. This song Is really wonderful. My friends are all a lot younger and they ask me what It was like In the 80's. And I tell them they missed out on the best music decade ever. I'm fortunate that I got to live It when I was In my 20's. I wouldn't trade It for the world. And Phil will always be one of my favorites. This song reminds me of my Mother who passed away In 2015. Phil was her favorite. And I can see why. I think this Is his best song. I'm sure a lot of Phil Collins fans agree. It brings tears to my eyes. And I'm so glad It does. Because these aren't sad tears, they're happy tears.
Just found this quote recently: In a ShortList interview, the unlikely figure of KISS frontman Paul Stanley said of Against All Odds: "It's all emotion, and it's all vulnerability and in that track he... eviscerates himself. It's pretty stunning in how he just tears himself open. That kind of desperate vulnerability... to be able to pull that off is terrific. The song ends beautifully and I love it. There's always grander songs or more heroic songs but sometimes the most difficult thing is to reveal the self." Couldn't have said it better myself. Great song & Amazing artist.
Jeff Bridges is greatest actors of all time including famous role like The Big Lebowski (1998) & Oscar winner for Best Actor in Crazy Hearts (2009) He also the sons of actor Lloyd Bridges & brother of actor Beau Bridges
I was 15 when this song came out (1984) and absolutely my all time favorite song, and it got me into learning to play the piano. My neighbor was a musician and he showed me a few things on the piano (we always had one in the house growing up, but I never was really into it), but Phil got me started. I bought all of the music books from Face Value to Hello I Must Be Going, No Jacket Required. Great stuff!
Saddest song ever.. I've been away from home for 6 months and still love him and think of him.... take a look at me.. u coming back to me is against all odds but it's all I got to face.. I still remember ur face, ur first and last kiss :( still love u so much Mag
+Sustainably healthy phil is a songwriter that really opens his heart to us,when its done so honestly, our heart soul or whatever it is,cannot help but open up to it,and bring all our own deepest feelings, and since its on the sad lost love wave length,it brings our own regrets out too. "Well done",not just for being so open about it,but that you look deeper into things, myself ive learnt so much from that,,the second answer or feelings of things can most oftern be the more selfless view, and personal evolution follows,,that is Buddhism,,,a self discovery and personal evolution,,rather than the western "have faith, and hope thats enough way" stu

This song still holds up today in 2018. Ain't nothing like the classics. By 'classics', I mean pre-2000s.

@Sven Baserbaschi Phil Collins Against All Odds is one of my favorite song
Der Song ist so genial, da bekomme ich heute noch eine Gänsehaut. Da passt einfach alles zusammen. Phil seine Stimme ist einmalig !!!
Love this song have listened to it daily since 1984!! A lost love I have found after 33 yrs.
1984 l was living in a long distance relationship this song is a reminder how tough it was to say goodbye heartbreaking everytime. Eventually we broke up not because we didn't love each other anymore but because we loved each other too much. Life goes on and the years have flown ....but on a warm summers night l can still remember the girl l fought for so hard to keep so many years ago....Against all odds
I understood everything :

Am I the only one who has always loved this music video?!!! It encapsulates the lyric so powerfully and the emotion plus blends so well with the intensity of the movie "Against All Odds" as well. Just perfection.

One of the best ballad songs around.
One of the best leaving love songs of all time.
One of the first song I heard from Phil Collins and it's the best 🎧❤
WOW, Rachel Ward and Jeff Bridges were a GORGEOUS COUPLE!!!! LOVETHIS SONG AND VIDEO!!!! SOOOOOO MANY MEMORIES!!!!
Just found this quote recently:
In a ShortList interview, the unlikely figure of KISS frontman Paul Stanley said of Against All Odds: "It's all emotion, and it's all vulnerability and in that track he... eviscerates himself. It's pretty stunning in how he just tears himself open. That kind of desperate vulnerability... to be able to pull that off is terrific. The song ends beautifully and I love it. There's always grander songs or more heroic songs but sometimes the most difficult thing is to reveal the self."
Couldn't have said it better myself. Great song & Amazing artist.
I like how they worked the scene of Jeff Bridges throwing the guy into the drums with the crashing of the symbols in the song.
I read this damn comment as it happened in the video 😂😂
+Regal805
Thanks, i didn't catch that.
+Regal805 This video is a masterpiece, especially when he turns his head away at 1:11, 1:59 and 2:16. Genius.
Lucie Carayon
I don't get it. What does his head-turning indicate / coincide with?
2 of the most underrated actors of all time, Jeff Bridges and James Woods
Jeff Bridges is greatest actors of all time including famous role like The Big Lebowski (1998) & Oscar winner for Best Actor in Crazy Hearts (2009)
He also the sons of actor Lloyd Bridges & brother of actor Beau Bridges
I love you so
So many tears…. So many years…… I’m my eyes you are everything
Jeff Bridges, James Woods and Phil Collins great actors, and a great muscians.
DONT FORGET RACHEL WARD

Thanks for the reply Stu,
+Sustainably healthy Its raw emotion..and a song that will remain unmatched. Ever.
Seriously who doesn’t like this song. Timeless classic. Better than the movie.
Oh geez I'm in my feelings for this one. Gosh, this song is one heck of a amazing piece of work. Go Phil!
