God...this guy has to be the MOST versatile drummer i've ever seen so far! He even dominates the double pedal, jazz and metal fills! You're my favorite Todd!
" Good-morning dear...A little coffee first, then I'm going to tastefully master every style of drum set percussion known to humanity. Have fun at the mall..."-Todd Sucherman
I cannot believe Todd is playing metal starting @11:05. I always knew Todd was a special player, but this is incredible and unbelievable. Nice to see him play some heavy music!
I personally think this guy would have been a better fit for Dream Theater than Mangini. Just watching these clips, I am blown away by his technique. Damn he's good!!
Stop criticising the video... it is in good quality reganding audio and video. The material is very nice, the scenes outside are beautifull. Stop comparing, be open minded always.
I agree with your comment and a GREAT list of talent you mentioned there. Nice to see you mentioned Gary Novak. Also, can't leave out Gadd when talking about the hands :)
The song at 2:34 is not Yes, it's Styx "Fooling Yourself." I wanna know what the songs titles are at 5:10, 7:20, and 11:15. The double bass work at 11:15 is amazing !
Jeez, about the only things we didn't see were blast beats and a one drop - wonder why they left them out of the trailer, because you know he'd crush them as well! Bravo!
Sabian 22" Precision Ride w/Brilliant Finish. You can verify this info here on YT where Todd goes thru his whole kit. I think it's under interview 3. I agree, great sounding ride!
Remember in the first Method and Mechanics DVD the house he was playing in was a friend of his....Maybe he couldn't get his friend's house for a certain reason hence why they're using the green screen for the outdoor effects. The EPIC drum room is Todd's though.
Reminds me a lot of Frank Briggs. His pocket is amazing...the technique and chops never get in the way of the pulse and groove...Todd GETS IT...he's first a musician then a drummer. Huge priority position. This guy can play in any band and make it sing...TOTO to Dream Theater to AC/DC to Journey to Holdsworth to Taylor Swift to USC Marching Band to.... and he lets us know he is human w/t CHEESY background green screen that did not work.
@Moog168 I feel like a lot of this DVD will be shots of him on tour and stuff, so it was just easier to record everything at his home studio... He should have been able to find room in that studio to set it up I'd think!
@FurlanPaolo This newest kit is still a Masterworks, but it has the Reference style bearing edge.. I'm unsure of the wood exactly, but I'd be willing to be he still went with his 2 outer plies of bubinga, and then his 6 plies of maple in the middle...
The first 3 seconds made me want this video.....So i watched the rest...Now I would go to any type of extent to get this in my hands!!!!!!!!!!! UUUGHGHGU
@disas73r It's one of a handful of short pieces we wrote for a movie soundtrack. Methods & Mechanics II is the first time they have been released. Maybe one day soon we'll make them all available... :)
@boneyardcircus Hey man, his website says he plays Pearl Masterworks (their custom line). The snare is 20 plies that sports an African Bubinga finish with African Bubinga on the inside of the shell.
To say that Todd Sucherman is an incredible, baddass, Beast of a drummer is an understatement! Now if you excuse me I’m gonna work on my paradiddles and six stroke rolls because after seeing this I really suck at it!!😖😩😢
His Pearl Masterworks african bubinga with gold plated hardware. His snare is custom built by somebody, but it's not Pearl. I watched an interview about it but I can't remember who made it.
God...this guy has to be the MOST versatile drummer i've ever seen so far! He even dominates the double pedal, jazz and metal fills! You're my favorite Todd!
You can tell that Todd is a schooled drummer/musician. He deserves all the success that he acquired.
This is the drummer they'll be talking about 50 years from now as the best of his era. Can't wait to see the entire DVD. Great job Hudson Music.
He's Todd Sucherman by day, and IRON MAN BY NIGHT!
" Good-morning dear...A little coffee first, then I'm going to tastefully master every style of drum set percussion known to humanity. Have fun at the mall..."-Todd Sucherman
Literally, this man redefines what a drummer is. Just bought the DVD!!! Can't wait to get it!!!
This drummer is amazing and it shows his dedication to his craft. It inspires me to continue playing even though I work full time. Well done.
I cannot believe Todd is playing metal starting @11:05. I always knew Todd was a special player, but this is incredible and unbelievable. Nice to see him play some heavy music!
this guy is just awesome on drums!!!! really love that snare!!
This guy is truly incredible.
I love the way he`s got the snare high up!
What an incredible drummer!! Is there anything he can't do!!??Amazing chops and great groove too!!
What a player! I own M&M I and I just finished watching it. My mind is blown! Will definitely pick up II!
I'd agree totally with that, one monster of a drummer, his main set-up looks fantastic.
This man is a phenomenal drummer. Much respect. Would love to work with him at some point in my life.
Bought both dvd's. great stuff, worth every penny.
My favorite drummer of all time
Seriously would love to spend a day with him and just drum battle with him. He's so far out of my league that I would be sure to learn a ton from him!
How bout just a lesson? Gonna be hard to pick anything up if he blazes.
I personally think this guy would have been a better fit for Dream Theater than Mangini. Just watching these clips, I am blown away by his technique. Damn he's good!!
I like Todd because he is very versatile! He starts on fusion, jazz then plays rock, metal. Very cool!
ゴールドとブラウンのドラムセットが素敵ですね
演奏もいろいろな音楽性が詰まっていて、かっこいい
Go Todd! that's wicked! Can't wait to buy this!
I've never seen control on THIS LEVEL with traditional grip. His left hand is incredible. But this guy is the sickest.
Bought volumes 1 and 2 back in the day. Most informative of all the drum DVDs from that time imo.
Wow - I think I stole like 200 licks from 14 minutes of playing - Todd is AWESOME!!
I met him at PASIC '12. Amazing player, amazing person.
thanks todd for being my inspiration, i will keep on practicing until we are at the same level
such a fantastic drummer!
I'd like this NOW, please! Forget having to wait!
Stop criticising the video... it is in good quality reganding audio and video. The material is very nice, the scenes outside are beautifull. Stop comparing, be open minded always.
Awesome!!!!! he´s a great inspiration
While this guy exists... I'm not drumming anymore. Todd is amazing.
Fantastic drummer!
I agree with your comment and a GREAT list of talent you mentioned there. Nice to see you mentioned Gary Novak. Also, can't leave out Gadd when talking about the hands :)
I like the way Todd thinks about orchestration and rhythm. It's a real common sense approach regardless of the complexity of the figure.
@vocoder83 The song at 5:10 is called "Going On 17" by Jerry Goodman but you can't find this exact version anywhere other than on the M&M2 DVD :))
Great Player!! Chops are incredible!
The song at 2:34 is not Yes, it's Styx "Fooling Yourself." I wanna know what the songs titles are at 5:10, 7:20, and 11:15. The double bass work at 11:15 is amazing !
Awesome! this guy graduated from my high school!
Jeez, about the only things we didn't see were blast beats and a one drop - wonder why they left them out of the trailer, because you know he'd crush them as well! Bravo!
Wow. Bloody.. wow! Mind-blowing. All the best with Zaza. Enjoy. Awesome...
@marralis Those custom snares he is using are Stanbridge, not Dunnett... Common mistake :P
Sabian 22" Precision Ride w/Brilliant Finish. You can verify this info here on YT where Todd goes thru his whole kit. I think it's under interview 3. I agree, great sounding ride!
the kit is his Pearl Masterworks kit and the snare in most of the video is his Pete Stanbridge snare.
@Pajor93 Todd mentioned that it's an "incidental film piece" - not sure of the film or song? But yeah, that rocks!
This man makes me want to get on the pad. Soooo clean!
Remember in the first Method and Mechanics DVD the house he was playing in was a friend of his....Maybe he couldn't get his friend's house for a certain reason hence why they're using the green screen for the outdoor effects.
The EPIC drum room is Todd's though.
@MLplayer78 if you're referring to the ride used for the big kit
@boneyardcircus thanks! cause i can see what looks like wooden rims..but a standard steel hoops on top.
Jeff Porcaro Groove - He does remind me of Frank!!! I never made the connection.....
Yes, crazy thing is, is he can play in any band and use his techniques and it works better than the original drummer. He is crazy, scary good!!
I dont think it's a sound that you could find elsewhere but his DVD. It was music he did session recording on for a film that was never used...
@Moog168 I feel like a lot of this DVD will be shots of him on tour and stuff, so it was just easier to record everything at his home studio... He should have been able to find room in that studio to set it up I'd think!
@FurlanPaolo Thats actually a song by Todd's Wife, Taylor Mills :) it should be on her new Album
@FurlanPaolo This newest kit is still a Masterworks, but it has the Reference style bearing edge.. I'm unsure of the wood exactly, but I'd be willing to be he still went with his 2 outer plies of bubinga, and then his 6 plies of maple in the middle...
@FurlanPaolo it's not an AA raw ride. It's a HH Leopard ride. I've been using AA raw for about 6 years for now.
The first 3 seconds made me want this video.....So i watched the rest...Now I would go to any type of extent to get this in my hands!!!!!!!!!!! UUUGHGHGU
Amazing musician!
That such a nice kit to look at! Bit like gavin harrisons set up.
Solid and clean. Dopeness!
soooo many drums in that room shot and Audix mics!
Parabens muito bom ! Quando vem ao Brasil ! Abrs
i love everything in this room!!!!!
Will buy this!Todd's the man
How many kits does that guy own or drum count hahaha!XD
Amazing chops
IM GONNA BUY THIS METHOD
My favorite drummer of all time. Todd loves Sonor drums so bad that even his Pearl kits look like Sonor's. =)
Perfect descriptioon!!!
Todd is a certifiable monster.
He was offering his Sonor designers up for grabs on the Sonor blogs
so melodic and tasteful.
great playing!!
@boneyardcircus It's a Stanbridge! He's gonna use it for a good majority of this next DVD...
I LOVE THE OUTDOOR SHOTS BY THE CREEK
He is amazing!
anyone know thr track at 0:43? It's so heavy. Love it.
Some kind of Jimi Hendrix song
@JRTaylorMusic THNKS THNKS THNKS!!!!
@hereforhalibut No it's another Jerry Goodman tune (The guy who wrote Tears of Joy) but it's not called Tears of Joy 2.
he is very good, and pretty low key. I like that
those masterwork series drums really sound amazing.
Damn this guy can make a drum set talk....and in long clear sentences!
To say that Todd Sucherman is an incredible, baddass, Beast of a drummer is an understatement! Now if you excuse me I’m gonna work on my paradiddles and six stroke rolls because after seeing this I really suck at it!!😖😩😢
It sounds perfect! But its not a regular model sold by sabian is it?
I didn't even notice all those drum kits in the background!!!
He did a very great work for 3.20 song
Nice kit!
versatilidad.... eso es escencial en un buen musico...
His Pearl Masterworks african bubinga with gold plated hardware. His snare is custom built by somebody, but it's not Pearl. I watched an interview about it but I can't remember who made it.
an absolute beast
THIS MAN IS A BEAST
What's that snare he is using on the Stewart Copeland-like bit? Please someone tell me. It sounds amazing. Is it a 400? Something like it?
Todd is the sh*t! love this guy's drumming
Sucherman is a cross between Smith and Colaiuta one of my personal favorite players
Why the fake background at 1:12 mark? Perfect drumming though.
that happens to be todds back yard. he lives off the riverbank in texas. nice when you make a great living playing drums
TOOD-YOU ARE AWESOME DUDE!!! JIMI G.
thank you so much!
You sir, are a lucky man!
I would love to see a Todd Sucherman, Danny Carey drum battle, just because of their different playing styles.
I think I may have a new favourite drummer...
