- This is a solo based around a two bar phrase that utilizes three snare drums. It eventually goes to some other landscapes but comes back to the main theme eventually. This solo appears in the DVD, Methods & Mechanics that was released in 2008.

Absolutely outstanding. Quite literally one the single most masterful solos I have ever seen or heard. I don't know what else to say. Sticking, dynamics, speed, technique, permutation, fluency... this is very high-level excellence.
Years and years of dedication and practice!!! ❤
Absolutely one of the best drummers.
~With respect, I disagree.
Always a pleasure to watch the Master...
A most perfect drum solo you could ever hear! A great musical journey.
Crazy good on literally everything, dynamics, control, speed, finesse, independence, musicality.
That Kit is absolutely stunning.
Every time I watch these video's I'm always left in amazement for a reason not expected. Yes, I love the drumming and Todd's superior skills, but what also leaves me impressed is the quality of Pearl. Particularly their hardware. I've trusted and loved their hardware for many many years. One thing you never see when you're looking at almost any drummer playing pearl hardware is how stable everything is. There is NO wiggle of any of the drums or cymbals. Everything is always rock solid. Then put the amazing sound, depth and feel of their drums... I will not play anything other than a pearl.
some of the most musical solos out there.
Thank you thank you thank you for posting these, Todd. I watched this DVD endlessly to its death... These solos were absolutely transformative for me.
Who gets credit for the drum tone? Todd's Pearl kits are consistently the best sounding drums. Live, studio, new, old, it doesn't matter.
When you’re a great player it sounds good no matter what. The credit goes to Todd for sounding good…

It’s like Christmas morning when a new video from Todd comes out!
2008 but still new!
You, Nick DiVirgilio, Gavin Harrison, Marco Minneman, Steve Smith, Thomas Lang, Georgio Borlai. Among the drum soloist I do not get bored with. Others for me that I fully enjoy: Vinnie Colaiuta and Dave Weckl.
simply brilliant
Absolutely masterful. Been watching you play with Styx last 15 years. Always wished they would let you do a solo.
Love your playing!
the control you have is just incredible...
Ufff beautiful cleanliness
This is like all the parts and tones I love. 12/10
Love the snare tone ring.
There is a beauty to fluidity and power of his strokes that is unmatched. He’s fun to watch is wh😢I’m saying
Necessário 👏👏👏👏👏🇧🇷
Good lawd 😮 Looks like I’m gonna have to pull this DVD back out! 📺
So cool and impressive how he soloed over that foot ostinato! It's a subtle thing, probably imperceptible to non drummers, but wow! That's not easy!
Friggin killa !!! So good. Love how you bring it full circle with the intro and outro match. Brilliant Saint Toddeth. 🥁😎
Rhythm concepts take very amounts of layering, the afro cuban voices emerge frequently and Takeshi quite a while to master them, undoubtly Todd has the vibe and spirit to bring them from within the intricacies of the drums and drums' different organic textures. 😂
Amazing!!!
Such a great feel-love it-thanks maestro
Pretty damn smooth 🔥🔥
Bello/Magnifico.💗✡️✡️✡️✡️✡️✡️

My drumkits are at the end of the curb if anyone wants them 😅😅
Hey Todd, are those shells wrapped or is that the true wood grain with stain. Just curious. She is a beauty.
top 10 mundial!!!
❤❤❤
Todd would be a great fit in Toto🥁
Pearl masterworks drum power.
Traditional grip just sounds different than matched grip ... especially when this guy plays it!!
what else ?!
Can’t touch this
ghost notes are a bit off
When drummers develop a monomania approach to technique, they sound like a calculator doing sums.
