As a highschool coach I'ma tell yall straight up
This is why as a player you cant trust college basketball coaches especially at The D1 level. You gotta do your due diligence before you commit to a school because its strictly business with them and they dont care as much as you may think or they make themselves out to. Whatever he tells you is probably what he's telling other players as well to get them in. More than likely, he's recruiting 2-3 other guys at your position so you have to make sure that you end up at a school that best fits you as a player. Do not commit to school because of the name and the hype, play where you know youre gonna get burn on the court off rip and possibly tv time💯💯

Played hard early in the first few games of the season then when he showed heart and that he cared with emotion as he should.. Calipari outed him for it. How many times have you seen Tom Brady losing his sh*t on the sidelines or guys crying cause they’re tired of losing and want to rally their guys together? That’s what you want on a team... not a bunch of non-chalant guys going through the motions waiting on draft day... he should get tf outta there, ball out next year & get ready for the next draft. Calipari clearly said he wanted Clarke and Boston playing over him because they wanted the future draft picks playing over who was actually performing. He actually played better defense early on imo & drove the ball better. Not sure what Matt is talking about. He was rotated in at times before Clarke was hurt.

He then had another outburst in the locker room no different from anyone else trying to gather the guys about winning & losing .. & he also talked about his dis-pleasure about playing & was excused from the team. Then Calipari singled him out to the public. Don’t make up stuff please. Thanks.

And pouting on the bench doesn’t necessarily mean u care about it ur team, but rather that you can about you and how much ur playing. Team sports requires players to buy into to the team concept and commit to winning over themselves.

    Here what I’m thinking:
Kentucky had a kid names BJ Boston who really played the same position as Fletcher. Boston was the star recruit and known to probably be a one-and done player (Boston got drafted in the NBA 2nd round). Players know. When someone in the same class is not performing better than you, but still getting all the playing time, it is a hard pill to swallow. I’m sure Boston and his parents were told that as a top 5 recruit, Calipari would make it a priority to get him ready for the NBA. No one saw Fletcher as a one-and-done and therefore I suspect Calipari felt he’s be content to wait his turn. (you know that at Kentucky that turn may never come as they reload with 5 star one-and-done types every year) Anyway, the ironic thing is that the thing that Calipari complained most about his severely underachieving team last season was that they didn’t play with grit and heart-the same qualities that Cam’ron Fletcher exhibits and the same that BJ Boston didn’t.
Fletcher is with the right program now. FSU has an excellent recent track record of developing NBA players. They play a style that fits Fletcher’s game and play 10 or 11 guys 10 minutes or more each game. He won’t have to worry about only garbage time minutes or games where he’s only getting in for 1 or 2 minutes. He also is now playing for coach who cares more about the students and turning them into responsible citizens than he is simply winning games-though that team finishes at the top of their league consistently in recent years.

As a native of St. Louis I followed this guy a ton. Personally I think this was a recruiting issue. All st louis natives are going to be edgy. It's a tough city to make it out of. And he's playing city ball vs say county privileged balls like other names that made it. During recruiting...those tough questions like do you really want to coach ME, or start ME as a freshman need to be transparently asked AND ANSWERED. The coach is a legend. He's built teams around team concepts. Imo Cam is a superstar and needs to go play where he can shine and be left alone. There's no need to change him. He's RAW talent. Trying to control raw talent often gets reported as a non team player but I assure u he's committed to team ball and winning. But to think Kentucky was going to win without playing him is crazy. He needs bumps and bruises from upperclassman to grow. Not to watch the game. Otherwise Kentucky would be the biggest mistake of his career as he could of went pro skipping college. Stay Humble.

Yo Matt, your opening statement about thinking he could no longer hoop is hyperbole. People thought he couldn't play at UK, but plenty believe he can play and could go and get playing time elsewhere, hence FSU.

Calipari isn't a great coach at all. With so much talent that has come through Kentucky over the years, and he continues to consistently loose. Proves that as a head coach he is not able to coach that talent and make them into a cohesive winning unit.

Y’all really hating on Cal when they get like 4-5, 3-5 star players and some transfers like if your going in there expecting to get minutes your just not going to get em. You have to play better then the players around you, or transfer like Johnny juzang did if you know your not going to get the minuets you know you should be getting. It’s not a coach cal problem it’s that some of these players come in to this program thinking they will play 30+ minutes a night.

Dude was acting crazy during practices and ass his attitude and ego started growing, his play and attitude starting shrinking. Cal covered for him for a while until he broke down on sideline in front of everyone that watched a UK vs UNC game... This is where fletcher believed he could do better than some of his teammates that where playing more than him. He was not shy in using names and calling out players he thought he deserved to play over. UK fans where pulling for this guy and they loved his attitude but he directed it towards the wrong team. Rumor is the guy is very hard to coach, very immature and was more worried about himself than his team and playing a team game. Lost temper in practice many times, quit pushing himself in weight room and training and spent a lot of time bitching and moaning. That he deserved more than what his coaches wanted to give. Calipari said he came along way and matured during the process (after meltdown) he had to learn how to put his own feelings aside and become a good teammate which is what he needed. He was not loved by his teammates leading into the meltdown as you can imagine. If im mad cause your playing over me and I say it out loud to you coach and team and I'm not working as hard as you or doing all I need to do behind the scenes then im sure you and the teammates who are doing all they can would be like "the nerve of this dude" to call out anyone while your acting like a child and also like your better than the team and smarter than the coaches. I still root for him and I wish covid didn't keep all the former players away from this team. He could have learned alot from cousins, Bledsoe, Wall, liggins, Davis, booker, p.j, Richard's, randle, towns, etc... they would have taught all.these kids what to expect and how to push thru it. Cause when you come to kentucky your playing with atleast 3 other nba players and you are nothing until you learn how to become a teammate and drop your ego. Fletcher struggled with that concept and could never put the team above his personal aspirations and when that did not work out he felt isolated, in part because he was and he did it to himself. Plus the team was very bad and the other players could not figure out how to bond and connect with each other. Devin askew never could understand the offense and how to run the point in call system. I think it's because he was too young and the supporting cast was under developed as well. Bit either way this was a very disappointing recruiting class and Cal could.not reach this group of young men especially fletcher. Sad. Herro, Washington, Richard's, quickly all understood it and this class was lost from the jump.
