I used to work in a large school's NCAA compliance dept. It was a miserable experience but I got a good sense of how the NCAA works. My sense is that there's more to the Billy P. car issue than we know. I'm guessing the car title was registered to a booster. He had a string of bad luck. But after that accident, it seemed as if luck wasn't on his side. In my opinion, he should have waited it out for the NCAA decision, and then entered the NBA Draft. Someone would have taken him in the first round. You set yourself up for failure if you hop around from league to league. It's rare that anyone bounces back after that. If you look at the NBA the majority of players come from schools who aren't basketball powers. Another thing is if you are a undrafted free agent choose a team known for developing players. One team that comes to mine is the Spurs, if you don't fit their culture both on and off the court they get rid of you so the agent should one try to get them on that team and second have a long talk with them about if they aren't committed to getting better this team will expose th e m.
