He's a jealous bitter ass...treated Sumner like shyt, when he took over lead vocals after Ian committed suicide...then he sued NO which lasted years...now look at his band....where he sings lead vocals and sounds AWFUL. I'm not saying he wasn't a good bass player, I am saying there are a LOT of amazing bass players who aren't ass holes.
A-freaking-men, my friend...Hooky's an awesome bassist & a phenomenal guy as well...I owned a multi-storey bar/nighclub in the absolute heart of Melbourne's CBD from 2000-08, until I accidentally fell about 40 feet from the top floor of the building, just outside my office (while 100% free of alcohol or any other intoxicants too, before you think otherwise - albeit completely understandably!) & then, a couple of years later, he & I communicated quite often online, after I had spent some 6 months recovering in hospital & a physical rehabilitation clinic, having broken my back, both legs & feet, my right arm, you name it...& he was just amazing!! I had already purchased a signed red-painted brick from The Haçienda auction years earlier & had had it signed by Hooky & Mike Pickering & then he signed a hardcover copy of his book "How Not To Run A Club" (btw, the fucker stole my proposed title for my own autobiography, dammit!!)...I always felt that he was an incredibly integral member of both Joy Division & New Order & was extremely fortunate to see them play live at Reading in '98 (after the Phoenix Festival fell through a few months prior, due to low ticket sales) but I could never have guessed that a) he would lave the band before they simply dissolved/reached their expiry date or b) they would be so utterly bland without him, even after bringing Tom Chapman in later, after having previously 'adopted' Phil...but then again, Steve & Gillian always had about as much personality on-stage as Mark Zuckerberg & not only has Barney inevitably lost his great looks from his younger days but all of that godawful 'Dad dancing' & wearing New Order t-shirts (who the fuck else has EVER worn THEIR OWN merchandise while playing live on stage?!) has gotten more & more cringeworthy as each year passes by!! Whereas Peter Hook & The Light are not only FAR superior as a live act to New Order nowadays (both the quality of their musical output & the MASSIVE playlist of songs from their 2-plus-hour-long live sets - & honestly, who gives a shit about über-high-end lighting rigs after the first song has played anyway?!) but it's so evident that Hooky truly cares about his punters & has a laugh & a chat with them between songs, while that has NEVER been Barney's forté, nor Steve or Gillian, let alone the two younger lads who no one wants/needs to hear from anyway! Anyway, please excuse this unintentionally über-verbose ramble that I've ripped out here but once I'd started, I just couldn't stop...much like a pack of Pringles, I guess!
Best band ever. They never made a bad record, simply timeless. I play this and many others to my four year old son, it’s not old hat to say they don’t make music like this anymore. Sad thing is they literally don’t!
Quel talent la puissance de cette musique de ce groupe heureusement que des génies ont pu écrire des chansons comme ça quand on voit ce qu'il y a sur le marché merci a ce groupe pour l'éternité quel émotion.
Watched a lot of N.O. videos lately but this bunch from Glascow are just the fookin best !! Crank it up ! It's (almost) just like being there !! Whoo hooo !!
Phenomenal version! I recommend their BBC | Live in Concert version on CD as well. One of my favorite bands of all time. Long live Tony Wilson!!! FAC51!!!!
Thank You! I have always thought that their bassist was incredible, his sound and style is unique, more of a lead than a back beat - well this series of live videos just proves my point. Great Find :)
Alfons dutch love this band for ever when it's was joy division i meet my girlfriend in zaandam an it's take time but now i can not without them so thanks that you al make my life better gr alfons from Holland
Excelente melodía,mejor que la original. Una de las mejores bandas de la historia. Una de las pocas bandas que se pudo recuperar luego de la pérdida lamentable de su cantante y reformándose así misma.
I love this song and this band ! This song reminds me of my freshman year of high school and all my friends and family during that period . Now I listen & look back at my self playing tennis and swimming that summer all the trips to O.C. Md. with my parents and brother & sister Denise. Maybe its me ,The music today don't sound that great or inspiring ???
Primeira audição desta música ocorreu em 1992, atravéz do álbum SUBSTANCE... De lá para cá, há sempre algo para descobrir neste poderoso "bate estaca"!!!
Absolute priceless. Brilliant. They were excellent when hooky was there. Shame it had to end so bitterly. Full respect to new order but partin company with hooky on he was t the best of moves in my opinion.
Combining post punk with dance is the most genius idea ever
It’s a crime Peter Hook is no longer part of New Order. One of most influential bassists ever.

I totally agree with you...
A legend in his own right
100%

I have twin 21 yr old sons that have grown up in Melbourne Australia. They have no clue. Their father is an idiot.

This group is one of the many reason why the 80's are the best.
Peter Hook is one of the best bass player's of all time. You have to include Les Claypool of Primus & Flea of RHCP.
Bleu632 count in Simon Gallup from the cure as well
@@victorperfecto6267 Also Gianni Maroccolo from Litfiba. Same era, same sound!
Bernard Edwards...Chic
