Ian was Ian and Bernard is Bernard. His voice is perfect for what they write. I can't imagine a world without a New Order out there somewhere. This track is pure class.
I find it infuriating when people criticise Bernard's singing, cut him some slack for fuck's sake. He didn't choose to be the singer, he was the bloody guitarrist and Ian popped himself. He could have just slunk away to bemoan what had happened, but he didn't, he tried to put the pieces together and make the most of what there was. Can you imagine the pressure he was under, he knew he couldn't sing and that he would for ever be compared with Ian but he did it anyway, that took balls.
Some of the best bands from the 20th century are in the 80's, but no one like New Order its story is unique, they emerged like champions from the ashes of Joy Division to be bigger. New Order is the only band ever that can make dance the rockers and make the dancers start to rock!
By "rockers" you mean who, by the way you sound like a music teacher, explaining to pupils who NO are. I don't know who exactly is your comment addressed to but it is typical of NO's "new" audience that has nothing to do with their original fans, your comment reads like all here are retarded and hear this band for the first time in their lives.
I actually saw them as Joy Division supporting the Buzzcocks. As usual with support acts no one took much notice and they played to a room of about 15 people.
For this track I like to turn the lights off and lay on the floor with a quad speaker hi quality stereo sound washing over me..Its like the sound is part of you.
Love this song. It is unpretentious and without guile. There is a unique beauty to Bernie's minimalist vocals. As anyone who knows New Order, it was never about vocal quality. More about the meaning behind the lyrics.
Ahh yes I remember this was the one that got me into New Order, I sang along to every word and they all looked at me as if I was mad. A great day and the last time I saw them play live.
Coleen Mccrory I was going to say me too- then I did the math. 33 years! Isn’t it a trip?!!! Every time I hear them, it’s like hearing them all those times plus now all at once.
Never say these guys live. This live version is better than the studio version. It is is true, that they had not played live for some time, New Order nailed this classic track.
Hey Bernard if by some crazy chance you're reading this please throw a concert in Dallas, TX. New Order is my favorite band in the universe. Screw U2 and Coldplay I have seen them both in concert. They are nothing compared to you. You touch my soul man. Where ever you are I wish you happiness.
If they play this in their Singapore gig, think I might just tear -- so magical. Don't know what it is but the whole piece of music is still as stunning as when I first heard it as a young boy with no one to love.
I saw them play at Move Festival at Old Trafford ground, Lancashire Cricket Club. The whole night was amazing but this one stood out. It just has all the classic new order special ingredients - melodica, great hooky bass lane, cheeky lyrics and a guitar hook to die for.
And I agree with Ralph. If you do not know the basics of New Order then please shut up. This gig at Finsbury Park was the first time they had played it since JD days. And folks get over Curtis- New Order/ Hooky have been brilliant!
SIMPLY HEAVENLY!!! Like most of their songs from the albums "Movement" , "Power , corruption and Lies" , "Low Life" , "Technique " and the others as well like Substance. The greatest band ever along with Joy Division!
I've always liked this band very much on record as well. One of my favorites from the 80's era. Still a favorite. Saw them in Mansfield, MA early 90's. Made us wait forever after the opening gig, like it was the pope arriving, then played 1 hour and screwed. And I bought a t-shirt. Comments.
31Bandhavgarh They were notorious for playing short shows with no encores. Never saw them live and that was one of the reasons. They sound better here than the clips I've seen from many of their 80s shows, their playing has improved since then and of course technology is better as well.
not really a stadium/big venue goer, prefer smaller places. But this, well New Order much better live here than in the early 80s when i first saw them. Full of imperfections that make it great. Perfection has no place in great art
Probs my favourite ever New Order track (*disclaimer - i may have wrote this a few times before for other tracks!!*) - whatever iteration they choose to play..its always close to PCL version….thinking i sense the Hooky tension in this - the “where’s hooky’” and the lyric drop to just a very passionate “Piss off”! - never gave it a thought first time i watched this….maybe even the “thanks for putting up with us” at the end was a sign of the original New Order lineup?
They could have just left the machines running and that would have been good for me...I was there! Feel a bit embarrassed for Bernie reading from autocue! Fantastic "Atmosphere" for fucking real!
Autocue? I knew it as "teleprompter". Nice to know new things and agreed to you: i feel embarassing for Bernard reading the lyrics. I love NO but i can't deal with this
NO at their absolute best - the music of the spheres and Peter Hook's best moment on the bass after JD. Let's hope GG has been working on some lovely melodies like this again....
Vive New Order !
@@walt1999walt you can perfectly see the tension in this record, hook playing in the dark and sitting in my opinion kinda reveals something about how he was feeling
I love the way that it is completely pointless, but he has done it for like 30 years. Even on the Mrs Merton Show. Style. Class. Cool. Top one. Nice one. Get sorted.
Marvellous, beguiling. The whole far exceeding the sum of its parts. Great art. Who cares about the technicalities. Bernard would be the first to admit he is more a lead vocalist than singer. A band who haven't written a great song since the Technique lp, but who have improved live infinitely in comparison to the 80s shows.
GOOSEBUMPS!!! Takin me back to Manchester Move Fest - fuckin 'ell!! Me n my mates trollied...OFF IT!! Fucking amazing - I'll never forget it - for GOOD reasons!! x x
To me this band shows the right atmosphere concerning all music made in the eighties and so fort.....amazing sound and effort to reflect a period in time
Ian was Ian and Bernard is Bernard. His voice is perfect for what they write. I can't imagine a world without a New Order out there somewhere. This track is pure class.
I wholeheartedly agree with this
Same ❤
"His voice is perfect for what they write" that's like saying, what they write is SHIT. ! he just can't sing.
Hooky just come back
So agree
I find it infuriating when people criticise Bernard's singing, cut him some slack for fuck's sake. He didn't choose to be the singer, he was the bloody guitarrist and Ian popped himself. ace performance and here he's singing beautifully
i don’t get it at all, ian was ian and barnie is barnie, different singers completely, barnie can sing just not as well as ian could
He probably doesn't give a toss what the critics think anyway 🤣
I love his singing voice. He’s Awesome
Barney has a unique voice like Robert smith. They’re unique and in tune just different. Barney hook they can all sing. Beautiful.
One of the most beautiful tracks I've ever heard.

my mix good day to you my friend:)
I concur...a majestic almost otherworldly brilliant song…🎼🎼🎼🎼
But…where is Hooky?
And some credit for Steve , still never misses a beat , best drummer I've seen live and he wrote the best book too!!
Bernard said he never tires of playing this and I never tire of listening to it
what a load of BS, he can't even remember the lyrics. ?
@@letsgobrandon. yeh well if you'd written a lot of tracks for a long period of time you might forget the words
“Where’s Hooky”, prophetic indeed.
Hookys back in town 😊

RESPECT DIG
" they emerged like champions from the ashes of Joy Division to be bigger. " beautiful sentence, and very true
Brilliant way ahead of the times RIP Ian long live new order

1982 - bought the album - thinking Blue Monday - then found this.
Still listening at 7.18 am on Wednesday morning 23rd of December 2020
I just listen to it again.....and again and again and again and again, and it never stops just getting better
For this track I like to turn the lights off and lay on the floor with a quad speaker hi quality stereo sound washing over me..Its like the sound is part of you.
Peter hook is my favourite bass player. His basslines are great in his work with both joy division and new order
This song gets me EVERY time.....
Beautiful song. Everlasting!!
Best Performance ever...live these Guys & the one Girl. 🏴🇮🇪🇳🇬💚❤

my mix good day to you my friend:)
She’s married to Steven morris the drummer. So cool
One of the best from New Order.
Great Song.
Love this song. It is unpretentious and without guile. There is a unique beauty to Bernie's minimalist vocals. As anyone who knows New Order, it was never about vocal quality. More about the meaning behind the lyrics.
The sound on this video is fantastic, Thanks electrian
Still one of my favourite songs in 2019
Ahh yes I remember this was the one that got me into New Order, I sang along to every word and they all looked at me as if I was mad. A great day and the last time I saw them play live.
I just love these guys so much...
Aleks Persson I have been listening to new order for 25 years n still love them even more
Coleen Mccrory I was going to say me too- then I did the math. 33 years! Isn’t it a trip?!!! Every time I hear them, it’s like hearing them all those times plus now all at once.
Bernard may not have the best of voices but I couldn't imagine New Order with another vocalist!
Pretty voice...I think one of the prettiest...and I love the bands drive...just takes me back to when I was wondered eyed.
dislike? who disliked? go and boil your head - magnificent song
It pissed down all day then the sun came out just before they came on. Concorde flew over in the distance too, adding to the awesomeness.
This song makes ya cry😎

I concur, this live version is so full of life (sort of thing)
I also tend to forget the lyrics, despite hearing this record many hundreds of times over the last three decades.
Love these guys!! Real muscisions. Chord changes! Yeah

I saw them at the 3rd Glastonbury festival. They were brilliant there.
I need to see them before I die.
If they play this in their Singapore gig, think I might just tear -- so magical. Don't know what it is but the whole piece of music is still as stunning as when I first heard it as a young boy with no one to love.
Gillian Gilbert was also a founding member. Her keyboard is primarily responsible for the huge sound of New Order.
Hooky is new order
And somewhere, Ian smiled throughout.
Beautiful. Just perfect.
"Where's Hooky?" Love that bit. Great song though.
Hooky's long gone unfortunately
dermot51 he didn’t leave yet
in this case it would have been "where's Gillian?" :)
What a cool song.. I hear this song for the first time.. I love it so much... Thanks for uploading. Kisses from Holland...
Super great song.
Some very Kraftwerk vibes in this lovely song, I love New Order and Kraftwerk so this pure heaven for me
Treinta años sin escuchar este tema ,,,!,,,,,,, y sigue tan fresco .
Gibberish

I love this track and I don't care if it's played to perfection live that's what makes it more interesting.
I saw them at Old Trafford cricket ground around the same time and this was the best track I loved it.
SIMPLY HEAVENLY!!! Like most of their songs from the albums "Movement" , "Power , corruption and Lies" , "Low Life" , "Technique " and the others as well like Substance. The greatest band ever along with Joy Division!
Just sat in the garden , a few beers and cheeky stripe . Perfect

+BigH0b0 Saw them 1983, Margate Winter Gdns, about 200 people, proper!
Love the way they rock out the last part of the song. When I first saw them in 1981, rocking out was not on their agenda

gracias ,,muchas gracias ,New Order por estas creaciones,,,,se pasaron,,,,
Going to see them in Dallas. Man I love New Order
Saw them in Dallas and they were awesome! The place was packed.
Einer der schönsten Songs ever ❤️
BEAUTIFUL -
One of my favourite tracks from power corruption and lies
Dedicated to you my joy division friend Beautiful Estella
RIP
Hypnotic epiphany, makes me recall the adventure of teen years in Lincoln, Nebraska, and marijuana....
love this song
I have see this Wonderfoul band this year at Lucca Summer Festival!
I Love This song
I Love New Order!
Greetings from Pisa Italy!❤❤❤
this, Temptation, Day of the Lords and Incubation are musical perfection
"By the light of the silvery moon"
NO at their absolute best - the music of the spheres and Peter Hook's best moment on the bass after JD. Let's hope GG has been working on some lovely melodies like this again....
Beautiful.x
4:58 onwards you have never seen such passion, someone who just loves playin and dont give a fuk what you think
The sound on this upload is 👍🏼
Great sound
Electronically amazing!!!
Best band ever
イギリスはどーしてこんなグループを生み出せるのだろう。ほんまヤバイギリスだぜ!
..."Where's Hooky?!"....
That's the spirit ! I can see you understand!
I’ve flown supersonic btw
My favorite performance of this song

where's Hooky?
"Where's Hooky?" That's right... NOT THE SAME WITH OUT HIM! Get it together guys. It's really NOT New Order without him.
I saw Peter Hook And The Light at the Astor in Perth Australia. Circa 2008. I Ijust lthought why the fuck isn't he still in New Order?
He's right there...are you high?
@@walt1999walt I think he's talking about the fact that Hook hasn't played with them in a while because he and sumner were always arguing
@@walt1999walt you can perfectly see the tension in this record, hook playing in the dark and sitting in my opinion kinda reveals something about how he was feeling
Where's 'ooky?!!! ...LOVE IT!!
goosebumps time.
" Where's Hooky? " is New orders' current iteration described in 2 words
이 음악을 조금만 일찍 알았더라면,,,
암튼 놀라울 따름이다!
New Order rocks!
Genius.
autocue??? even I remember the words
Yes, but I doubt you've pickled your brain quite as effectively as Bernard.
can't sing but the sound makes up for it in a melodic kind of way .... we learn ;)
You would have thought he'd know the words by now.
I love the way that it is completely pointless, but he has done it for like 30 years. Even on the Mrs Merton Show. Style. Class. Cool. Top one. Nice one. Get sorted.

No doubt. This is the 80's, full stop. I love them.
Adoro este súper temazo. Imperecedero
