    I had to replace my starter brushes somewhere in the middle of a forest in Sweden, on a trip, probably 2000 km from home (luckily I was aware of the problem and had the spare parts with me) but the biggest problem was removing the computer plug....how dumb am I. Thanks for the video, as always - great job! Stay hard!

    Just bought this very bike. Now has 57k miles, and its in line for some TLC. I'd heard you worked on it Chris, this video was a real surprise. She'll be well taken care of from now on out, rest assured.

    Thanks for showing the fuel unit connector procedure. Never in over 10 years I noticed that hole nor is it mentioned in the Haynes manual I have.

    There should be a BIG WARNING not to try the starter if you think the battery is low on these bikes. What can happen is that the starter relay points weld together, and the battery gets very hot very quickly. As a precaution, have the LH side panel off and the tools needed to disconnect the battery handy.

    I have a K75S that I am in love with - considering picking up a K100RS as well that someone has had sitting idle for years - bad idea?
    Appreciate your coverage of even the simple stuff - helps tremendously!

      If the price is right; buy it. It can always be a part donor if it's too far gone from extended storage. Good luck, Chris

    You make it look so easy! I'm sure I would have broken all of those plastic tabs that should have been holding the side panels on. I have more than one plastic panel being held on with zip ties because those annoying tabs broke off.

    I had thought my battery didn't survive the winter also on my K, but because it was a lithium iron, it would not take a charge in the cold. I think it's OK now. Just the way those batt's are.

      @@ChrisR.Harris Now I replaced it with an AGM glass matt from Beemer Boneyard and the ABS which never worked with the lithium iron battery now works. Had no ABS for 7 years. Now it's back.

    Hey Chris, I've got a final drive for a K1100, bought it from Beemer Boneyard because I thought I needed a replacement but it turns out I didn't. would you be interested in it? Bought this bike from someone who the final drive was chewed up, it wasn't. This final drive looks like it's in real good condition and my K1100RS has only about 6,000 miles on it so it doesn't need one.. will have to check to see the ratio.

    I just installed an Odyssey battery in my K75S. Considering that these batteries require 14.7 V to receive a full charge, I somewhat hesitantly changed the VR in the alternator from a 14.1 V to a 14.7 V unit. Do you have any thoughts as to what affect this extra 0.6 volts might have on the rest of the electrical system?

    • @ChrisR.Harris
      @ChrisR.Harris  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mike, I'd be skeptical. K's are quite reliable but they can adopt some weird electrical issues so I keep that as OEM as possible as the system works well as designed. The WESTCO fits in nicely.

    Las k tienen un diseño de estética que BMW no a superado, sin menos preciar las R 45 y 65 de filtro de aire de aluminio y las r 100.

    2 valve bikes to ‘92? Mines is a 4 valve K100rs, built ‘91, registered ‘92, battery is much bigger.

    • @ChrisR.Harris
      @ChrisR.Harris  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 16 valve K100RS and the earlier K100 models have a 30 amp hour battery. The procedure is slightly different and I'll have a bit on that coming up, thanks.

    Stupid Optima only specs one battery size. for K-75. If you have a low seat maybe other 92 on.. you are in for rude surprise.
