    Greetings. I've been suffering for over three years in which time I've seen more than 10 practitioners and tried dozens of stretches and exercises. This is the first movement that really seems to target my tightness. Thank you.

    Thank you so much. My coracobrachialis muscle has been really sore lately. I cannot rotate my elbow at all, so I will start wiht the basic stretch.

  • @Kikuye
    @Kikuye 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I tried it in the position you showed with my palm against the wall and fingers up, but also did it with my hand against the wall but rotated to about 90 degrees, towards my back, and then basically 180, fingertips facing the ground and attempting to rotate at the elbow as you showed. I noticed more of a "crunching" sound below my scapulae. In any case, may this be effective in relieving any adhesions there may be. Still playing around this in different ways now and being more aware of my muscles and how tense they are and any restrictions. Thanks for the video!

    Thank you so much for this stretch, when I attempted to do this i felt some tightness in my front delt area and when I was trying to rotate my elbow up while my palm was fixed on that wall, I had some sharp pain in my triceps area, any thoughts will be appreciated,
    Can't thank you enough by the way.

    • @achilleshealerssportstherapy

      If you’re getting sharp pain then it would be better to stop the exercise until you’ve had a therapist establish what’s causing it. Tricep and elbow pain can often originate as trigger points in the lat dorsi or infraspinatus on the posterior side of the armpit (axilla). Book in with someone local who can assess the source of pain. Regards Richard

    I found this stretch on my own a few years ago.. I call it my "miracle stretch"!!!! I can not find a doctor willing to believe this is a muscle injury or pain.. what kind of doctor would diagnose this for me so I can receive proper treatment!?!?

    • @achilleshealerssportstherapy
      @achilleshealerssportstherapy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Twisted Sister - if you’ve been suffering for a few years it sounds like a scan might be required to establish exactly what’s happening inside the rotator cuff. All I can say is to keep pestering your doctor to refer you to a specialist.

    This hit the freaking spot, thank you! Do you have any input on working with pain in this exact area it's targeting? I feel it during push ups and other press motions, guessing its the coracobrachialis.

    My shoulder has been clicking/clunking for agesbut I couldn't work out what the problem was. When I do the elbow turning back and forth, there it is, very loud and clear. Also been getting numbness in my hands, so it is all starting to point to the coracobrachialis.

    i've had a debilitating shoulder issue for about 2 years now. i've done PRP, cortisone, physio, accupuncture and osteopath for the pain that radiates at the front of my shoulder for certain movements, soreness when i lay on my side and a general tightness in my armpit, forearm and fingers when i outstretch my hand with my palm down.
    i just tried this stretch and it really felt like this got right to the issue. i can't thank you enough, are there any other stretches you would recommend? thanks in advance!

      Hi Blake, I’m pleased that the video is helping you. I will post a couple of links to other videos that I think might be beneficial. (If it allows me to). I’m assuming that your bicep tendons and the connections at the coracoid process are what’s causing you problems. Good luck, Richard.

    Why does it feel so tight in my fingers when doing this stretch?

  • @Xotty

    Thanks for the video. I have numbness/tingling sometimes burning sensation in my left arm for nearly three years. Have been on EMG test for cubital tunnel but it came back negative, tried to stretch/nerve floss but everything seemed to got symptoms worse so I stopped. I started to believe that I have some issues at the coracobrachialis area. Before this happened I did a lot of pec exercises in the gym with the pecs machine. Can coracobrachialis injury cause these symptoms/nerve entrapment?

  • @m1ke896

    Every time I do this I feel so discomfort in where I thought is the tendon of the short head of the biceps. But could this be the coracobrachialis?

    Maybe it is just me but when i try this.. extreme pain throughout the forearms through to the bicep. Really challenging to actually straighten my fingers ouy

    • @achilleshealerssportstherapy
      @achilleshealerssportstherapy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You'll have to take things easy for the first couple of weeks. If you lift weights then the biceps and forearm flexors are likely to be tighter than usual so gradually elongate the fibres and over time they will be less painful to stretch.

    When i tried this, it feels like theres a "clunk" in my right inner arm, between the bicep and tricep. Ive been using a theragun to massage that area, along with taking it easy bodybuilding wise the past few weeks. I know this is an old video, but if youre still responding do you know what that "clunking" means?

    Thanks for this. I tried the exercise and I can't rotate my elbow down on the side of the affected shoulder. Doesnt feel especially painful, just doesn't seem to budge. Can roll it up and down fine on good arm. Would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks

    • @achilleshealerssportstherapy
      @achilleshealerssportstherapy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, it sounds as though your forearm flexors and bicep tendons may be tight and congested. I would recommend visiting a sports therapist for an assessment and potentially some myofascial release of the affected muscles to increase mobility.
      Regards Richard

    Hey doc, I tried this and could barely rotate my humorus. Does this mean its really messed up. Please advise, much appreciated.

    • @achilleshealerssportstherapy
      @achilleshealerssportstherapy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The glenohumeral joint should, in normal circumstances, allow for circumduction of the arm as well as internal and external rotation.
      The shoulder blade “floats” over the posterior rib cage and the humerus sits in a very shallow socket, allowing a wide range of movement.
      If you’re unable to rotate the humerus there may be some form of tendinitis, fascial build up or muscle shortening which is limiting mobility.
      It’s best to visit a therapist who can carry out range of movement tests, check pain levels and treat the injury appropriately.

    I started get hand and arm pain in 2015 from computer use, had to quit my job in 2017 and am just seeing this video now :( ... When doing this my muscles are extremely tight and after about 20 seconds my fingers start to go numb/tingle. Is this ok? I.e. am I doing damage?

    • @achilleshealerssportstherapy
      @achilleshealerssportstherapy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Whenever people get tingling and loss of sensation it will be due to nerve entrapment. I would suggest visiting a sports therapist who can deal with any trigger points you have in your latisimus dorsi muscles and in your pectoral muscles. You may have rounded shoulder posture and associated tension which restricts your usual range of movement. Visiting a good therapist who can advise you on a suitable rehabilitation program will be beneficial. Good luck.

    What if the tendon is so tight you can't even rotate it?

    • @achilleshealerssportstherapy
      @achilleshealerssportstherapy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try getting some physical therapy first to release tension in the biceps and pectoral muscle, then give it another try.
