Are you serious ? You do realise that native/indigenous people in North and South America are all from Asia (Mongoloid) through the Bering Land Bridge.
@@GhettoDetective she was innocent from the start , she said it herself, she only did this for fun etc etc etc.. so obviously, she doesnt care much about others people insecurities about their race. sorry to be blunt. but i find some people really are obsessively weird in the comment section. its like those astrology sun, moon, star signs kind of weirdos that turns me off.
@@GhettoDetective and that makes you more intelligent is that it? also, not all people care so much about this things like you. it doesnt mean you studied this in grade school, you'll still remember this stuff in your professions in life as you grow older. the world doesnt revolves around in that matter.
i think the wow factor about having so much indigenous DNA, and people congradulating it, is because in so much of northern america, indeed much of the americas, the indigenous population was so utterly near-annihalated that it is simply a shock when you realize the population has managed to survive despite this profound decimation. i live in north america, new england to be specific, and when i meet a person of native american decent i almost fall over because it is incredibly rare despite the fact that they were the originial inhabitants of our country. the person you are meeting has somehow survived all the odds. it is Wow thing to many people.
That's unusual to say because of the Mohawk nations footprint in both the "new England" area extending into Canada. There are at least 100+ million high percentage Native people throughout the Americas. The United States is the home to many as well. All you have to do is search on TH-cam. Grub the Navajo Nation to the Amazon, incredible maybe TH-camrs are vlogging and producing content.
No indigenous population wasn't annihilated. You're ignorant of history The numerous indigenous populations loved hunting and warfare and not doing real work - and refused to modernize - had a disdain for agriculture. So they made no use of their land and wanted to just carry on like nomad savages massacring each other and the settlers and raiding. They eventually massacred white settlers so many times that the settlers had enough and killed their buffalo herds, to stop the sadistic killing they loved doing. Instead of finally growing-up and working hard, they chose to just sit around doing nothing and remain on the reservations to this day not achieving very much. Australian Aboriginees are pretty similar and also failed to adapt. They have massive problems with meth and alcohol because they are still immature towards working. Since then Socialist / Communist types attached their money to Hollywood and hollywood has pushed a myth like what you just wrote that the big nasty white people came and bullied the poor litte native american victims out of their lands bla bla bla bla bla, but that isnt what happened in history. They didnt want to accept living responsibly and their love of torturing and massacring other people led to the settlers putting a stop to the buffalo they relied on.
@@hitmusicworldwide Their brain does not allow them to understand that the Spanish did not commit genocide, but the English did. They are taught to blame other civilizations for their own sins. Read Charles F. Loomies if you have even the slightest interest in American history.
Love the video and agree with your thoughts. DNA testing is neat and informative. I've done it twice through two separate companies. I also love your honesty about social issues in your community, things like colorism and shinning a light on those issues.keep up the good work
I agree, Karencita. I have never understood people's obsession with ethnicity. It's just a thing. My country has accomplished some amazing things and done some really bad stuff. For me, it is neither a source of pride or shame.
Most indigenous people in the United States don't speak their Native language or practice their Native customs either. People are congratulating you because you are a survivor of one the largest genocides in history. That's something to be proud of. In the United States most people wish they were indigenous. It's to the point where if someone in the United States discovers they have less than 5% indigenous DNA they will most likely say that they are Native American
@@Dragon_Gaming2020is that why plenty of white women claim their great-great-great grandmother was a Cherokee princess? 💀💀💀🤣oh please. Then they go around telling everyone they’re native to receive benefits.
Like blacks when they get DNA results this is what they say finally I'm going to show who the true indigenous people of this land are not those light skin European Mexicans or those asian so called Cherokee foreigners my grandmother is 1000 %Cherokee and my grandfather was olmec Maya Azteca King he built the pyramids he was also 50% Cherokee ok let's see the results it says 200%pure African negro 300%white European and German -0% aboriginal to no land . Oh no racism racism shalom 😂😂😂
Great video. For myself and thousands of other adopted Koreans all around the world it's important to check our DNA. 1) In hopes that we may be reconnected with our biological family 2) Also that Korea was a colony of Japan from the early 1900s to 1945 so many Koreans have Japanese DNA. 3) And finally it helps us understand our identity and be proud of our ethnicity. This is hard for some people to understand because they aren't adopted into a non Asian family. Keep up the great videos !
I enjoyed your video. I am glad God made people with different backgrounds and culture. I'm proud of my DNA results. I found out I'm British and German and Hebrew and Romany Gypsy. I was told this growing up but the tests confirmed it. Keep up the good work and I think you are a beautiful sweet person. God bless you
A lot of great points in this video! Most interesting is the difference between north and south of the border's perception of racial identity. I really hope you do more videos on this subject.
Wow, I feel the same as you. I don't know my Dad's side and realize that he shaped me DNA wise. However I am more in tuned with the side that nurtured me and the culture that shaped me. I get criticized by my dad's ethnicity because I don't follow it. They don't get. It's not like there is a switch to turn it on
There's a loud minority of Americans (particularly teenagers who spend too much time online) who have an unhealthy obsession with race and are constantly searching for signs of racism. They're probably just projecting their issues onto you. The best advice I can give as a TH-camr is to keep creating videos that make you happy and let the haters stay mad.
Apparently I have been called out as a racist. It's some kind of original sin for being a white person in the USA. You don't have to have a single racist thought...just breathe and take up space.
I really liked that video because I've had some people tell me that I look Asian also. History is so fascinating and I enjoyed the story that you told in the video.
Neither race nor ethnicity defines who we are or become as people, but it can be used to divide if you’re of that mindset. Beauty and goodness go so much deeper than skin color and even there there is so much to celebrate in all people. My DNA is mostly English, Irish and Welsh but there is other European and even a tiny bit of African! I was hoping for a little more exotic family history but oh well 🤣🤣🤣🤣. I love history and would love to know more about the people who made me who I am with their genes, regardless of where they came from. BTW, on my dad’s side there was German and he looked Mexican, so go figure!!! Interesting video!!! Cuídate mucho!!!
Excellent video and reflection 👏🏼 I agree it is strange for people to congratulate you and that DNA results don’t define who you are. Unfortunately we live in a world that sometimes treats people differently based on our skin complexion, how we dress or how we sound when we talk. This reminds me of the conversation we had during our first collaborations together about perceptions of “pochos” aka Mexican Americans like us living in Mexico. I think it’s important to push boundaries of ideas and learn about the many perceptions out there that shape our world. Keep up the great work!
Hi! This is the first video of yours that I've seen. I enjoyed it a lot and I hope to look as some of the earlier videos you mentioned! I enjoy doing family history (genealogy) and part of that was a DNA test. Like you said, it is interesting because it helps you know more about yourself, it's not that some backgrounds are better than others. Besos!
Hi Karencita, I'm so glad you did your dna video. Don't let people's negative comments get to you. They 're not in the video, they're either rude or maybe ignorant.
Somewhat selfishly, I am glad you made those videos, because that's how I found your channel. I very much enjoy your videos. I can honestly say that I haven't seen any indication of racism expressed on your channel before, and I appreciate that.
What a delightful channel, I am so interested in your thoughts and presentation. I am writing from Australia. Some offorbears were Irish and came here during a Famine. Irish people were also called a Race by the English who were the colonising power of Australia. There were all sorts of mean stereotypes for Irish people. I love the discovery of DNA and this new awakening to our very ancient connections. I am aware though that there are many ways people sort out who is in and who is out in every society. Humans are troubled by Status Anxiety and a drive for power in relationships but there are many other ways to enjoy being a human being. This DNA is stirring people up who were once able to sort out who was who and who they could safely use even harm...there really are some edges here. But we can also use our joyful courage and jump up and down with so many more friends from every where. Un abbraccio forte (Italian for a big hug) da Julia
In México during the XX's century the ongoing official word was that we are all in this country mestizo (mixed-race), end of conversation. Apparently in an effort to do away with any racism, but unfortunately it persists and basically because racism and clasism go hand in hand, of course if someone has a lot of money people suddenly go color blind. It is not only color, it is features, ways of talking, tastes and so on... people look for excuses to set themselves aside or feel special.
Having a TH-cam channel is divisive. Had a very small , insignificant TH-cam channel and cancelled it four videos in. The comment section is brutal. And being a thin skinned person (I was abused and bullied as a child) I wasn't prepared for what I was getting into.
My family is mostly a mix of Irish and Native American (Cherokee and Black Foot). However, many people think I'm Jewish. They think my brother is Arabic or Mexican. They think my mom is Iranian, Egyptian, or even Inuit. Some people think my dad is Russian. Many people also say I have east Asian mannerisms, even if I don't look Asian. So sometimes people just pick out some feature on you and associated it with a particular group of people, even if you are not a part of that group. I think this just goes to show that we all share many features with each other, and just because different groups of people tend to have certain features show up stronger, it doesn't mean other groups don't share the features to an extent. The same thing is true with with cultures as well, not just genetics. Thanks for making this video! I think its an interesting topic, and I enjoyed seeing your perspective!
In todays world you have addressed a very complicated and confusing subject. Many people get attached to a viewpoint maybe because they don't have enough information or can't change their old beliefs. I am in Queretaro now and am of 100% Western European origin and am 6'-3" so I really stand out in the crowd here. It feels very weird to be so different and have many people staring at me so it makes me think about that subject. More than physical features or coloring I think culture is something to be proud of and the Mexican culture is very rich and old. That is something that we miss in the US I think, so we turn to materialism. So be proud of your culture and who you have become as it is very valuable to me. You are doing a great job with your channel and hope you continue in your success.
Some people base their way of thinking and their opinions of people based primarily on race. So much so, that they can’t possibly believe that you don’t think that way.
Karencita, Great video! You are spot on, especially at the end. I very much enjoy your introspective of human nature, period. You are very important to this youtube community! I will share with my ex-pat community and my US community and hopefully, your videos can bring us together even more. What a beautiful world and especially with you in it! Grandes abrazos
Americas was populated in waves. All from Siberia . massive Proto-Amerindian wave during the Last Glacial Maximum, probably involving similar, but distinct, groups of Paleo-Siberians from Northeast Asia (including by then the Beringian bridge), some of whom may have carried, unlike the others, a minor Basal East Asian-related ancestry that creates a so-called “Australasian/Melanesian signal”. That kind of genetic profile was better preserved in Southeast Asian hunter-gatherers, particularly the Andamanese, despite its presence as far north as the Amur river, in Northeast China, 30,000 years ago. The bulk of the migrant peoples' ancestry, though, derived from a particular branch of East Asians that split from the modern Neo-East Asians at least 24,000 years ago, as well as from the West Eurasian-majority Ancient North Eurasians, who lived in much of Siberia before 15,000 years ago. much later wave of genetically different Neo-Siberians about 5,000 years ago, also from Northeast Asia, The first wave with Oceania DNA is not due to intermixed with Oceania in the middle ages. Instead it is due to paleo siberian still carrying traces of early human from Africa similar to that of melanesians. This had been a mystery for long time and people would theorize that south Americans were a result of Polynesians arriving in America. To put it simply, south Americans and paleo amerindians are still more related to their cousins north amerindian and the inuit than any other group of people in the world
So, I believe that we should be liked, respected, etc. by how we act and what we say. Who we are. DNA, ethnicity, as you stated, gives us background information from our past. Tells us about our ancestors, those honored during Dia de Los Muertos. It does not define us it just says, hey, your family came from here. I don't care who you marry, where they are from, or what religion they are. That's my two cents, from the U.S.
really interesting video. my boyfriend is a darker skinned Mexican and looks indigenous (although he may we have other ancestry like many others of course) He has always had a thing about being darker and as a British person I always found it rather bizarre this preference for white skin. His ex was a middle class girl and much lighter skinned than him. when they broke up,all her insults for him revolved around his skin color. as a white chick this seemed incredibly tabboo to me. I absolutely never would comment on race or skin color, even with someone i truly loathe lol
I just found your channel and have commented on some of your other videos from 2 years ago. When I was living in Pasadena TX where most of the population is Latino and i used to get approached in Spanish all the time! But I am Vietnamese 😂 My nickname was CHINITO. ¡Adios!
Hii! Im from Hidalgo, too! So cool to see an influencer from Hidalgo. My parents are from different Otomi towns near Ixmiquilpan. What about you?😊 Tbh i think the reason why people are congratulating is because most ppl are taught that Natives are “extinct” 🫤 which isn’t true at all, actually Mexico has the largest Native population in the Western Hemisphere! You mention not necessarily “deserving” to be congratulated for your indigenous ancestry because you don’t practice Native culture or know the language HOWEVER would you say a Native who DOES practice their culture “deserves” to be congratulated? Especially if they are cultural keepers? Genuinely curious to know your thoughts on this. Keep them videos coming sis🤗💕 really enjoy them🙌🏽
I think genealogy is a fun thing to do. But I don't think it makes you better or worse, than anyone else. And sometimes you find out, that you find new relatives. I found out something kind of crazy. My grandfather had an identical twin, a cousin contacted me and said one of them was her father. No way to know they are both dead.
Whoever pointed out that you are indigenous but don’t speak an indigenous language clearly doesn’t understand how colonialism works. Also, I live in the US but I’m also Mexican like you, and I agree that ppl here care about race and color a lot more than ppl in other countries. It’s like ppl in the US categorize you everywhere you go and in everything you do by your race, ethnicity and color. I don’t think it’s healthy because ppl make a lot of assumptions about you without even knowing you. I’m sorry you got so much back lash. Stay strong! Te mando un saludo y un fuerte abrazo!
@@Dragon_Gaming2020 So? He’s still Hispanic. Hispanic refers to the people of Spanish speaking countries. Hispanic is a linguistic ethnicity. Even Spain is Hispanic. Please don’t tell me you actually believe Hispanic is a race, do you?
Most native Mexican languages are extinct. I read a paper where it said that the 68 native populations are so different that it would be like comparing a European to an Asian, thats how genetically different the native tribes are to each other including native americans in The US. Be happy who you are and disregard american centrist views that see things through color rather then actual facts.
I agree with all of the points you made. First of all I think you are perfect the way you are. Dave is a lucky man and the idea that by marrying him you were "improving" the race (i.e. making it whiter) is nonsense, and that certainly wasn't your goal. Miscegenation does create a stronger species, but I don't think that is what the people making that comment were thinking of. People who leave negative or hurtful comments reveal more about themselves than they realize. Constructive criticism is different, of course. And I don't understand why a video that has been seen 10,000 times may have no more than 450 likes. It costs nothing to give the video a thumbs up and it helps the creator. Re the first type of comment we have no control over our ancestry, although our choice of mate will influence who our descendants will be. It's fun to know something about your ancestry, and can lead to research in many related fields. It is interesting that you have mostly indigenous ancestry from Mesoamerica and further south, and since Malinche was reputed to be a beautiful woman you could be a dead ringer for her. Who can prove otherwise? The second type of comment may be as you say, but they could also be intended as protective, Since some people view brown people, or black people, as somehow inferior (total racist nonsense), they may have been trying to say that your indigenous roots were no better or worse than if you were Norwegian or Spanish, and that you should be proud of your ancestry. They may not have thought you were feeling superior. A much too large percentage of conservatives in the US are scared to death of the current "invasion" of brown skin refugees seeking entrance into the US. This fear is based on ignorance fueled by rightwing media. This is ludicrous since many of these pasty skin individuals will go to Hawaii or Florida or even Cancun in the hope that they will return home with a tan resembling your natural skin color (they should be so lucky). Not many people speak one of Mexico's 68 indigenous languages. It would take a monumental effort to determine which group(s) your ancestors belonged to. You speak two languages, which is more than most people in the US can speak. I've always thought of Benito Juarez, a Zapotec Indian, as one of the great people in history, but I wonder how he would be welcomed today. Would a small dark skin man be recognized as a great leader for our time? In 1971 I made my first trip to San Cristobal de las Casas. A few years before the Tzotzil and Tzeltal Indians of Chiapas were not allowed to walk on the sidewalk. As a group they are still poor but their influence is growing. Anyway, I enjoyed your videos on why some Mexicans look Asian, or about some being Black, and your DNA results. More positive than negative, I think, although I don't discount your reaction to some of the responses.
The "New World," North, South and Central America, is a great and varied palette of humanity, and I think that's a good thing. We have to learn how to live together. I chose to anonymously obtain my genetics because they are mine, and I don't want others to to define me by my genetics. I believe this might be what you are reaching for.
We are the same race, we share 98% of DNA, human race, but there's also our ethnicity, something that can give us identity, I think there's nothing wrong with being proud of our distinctive roots, I know I'm mestizo, half Spanish, half indigenous, most likely purépecha, for the region I was born, and I'm proud to mestizo, but sadly I know almost nothing of my indigenous roots, I wanna learn more about it even if it doesn't matter, even if we are the same race everyone, I want to know about my ancestry, is that bad?
@@UncagedSavage I'm not sure, maybe I got her wrong, but she gave me the feeling that she was emphasizing the fact that we are the same race which is correct, that she shouldn't be proud of her roots, or there's no need to try to find some identify in our ancestry if after all we are the same race, which I agree to some degree, yet I would like to know about my roots, I just meant if that's wrong in her opinion
@@julions777 . I say be proud of whatever you are...not in a way that makes others lower ..only there should never be any shame of your roots. People are pressured to think they should be ashamed of what they are sometimes..often because others belittle them ..all I'm saying is that there are good things for any to feel good about themselves
How did humans get to the American continent? By the Bearing land bridge. And who were the humans that crossed it? People in the east asian continent. That's why there are strong similarities between Native American and East Asian DNA, so it is not surprising many Native Americans look Asian.
You should try 23andMe DNA 🧬 Test, because they do Haplogroups, and I saw People who are Mexican and Native American to, that will do the 23andMe DNA Test 🧬, most of their Haplogroups, Man and Women, goes back to Asia for real, my Friend.
Hi, there Tribe of Issachar! I thought so about the extensions to other Israelites descendants I'm part West Indians (Arawaks) and a few others prove were shouldn't be divided any prejudice against other tribes Now you see I was on point about this before.
TH-cam suggested your DNA ancestry video when you did it. It also suggested this video. I think racism exists everywhere. Look how Black people and Indians were treated leaving Ukraine. Like who would have thought people fleeing war would encounter racism. Mexico just started counting black people in their census data. Outside of Africa it was always said Brazil has the largest number black people from the continent of Africa. In just a few years. It's estimated that Mexico has the second largest number of black people outside of Africa. Based on some of your comments. I think people have these very ignorant/ racist ideas of what indigenous people should look like or what they should be doing. I appreciated your DNA ancestry video
Guerrero, Colima, Nayarit, Jalisco, Michoacan even as far as Oaxaca received thousands upon thousands of Filipinos for over 250 years during colonial times, facts.
Ancient Central Asian Turks were nomads and crossed the Bering Straits following food like reindeer. Ancient Turks and Native Americans have VERY similar tools, weopons, customs, cultures, religion, and name meanings.
Your DNA comes from your Dad and Mom. Why would anyone "congratulate" you for this? I remember a "see my reaction to my DNA test results" TH-cam video I once saw. The young African American woman was very angry to find out she had a lot of Caucasian DNA although she looked African American. Yes, thinking about how that Caucasian DNA got there could be upsetting given the long history of slavery and racial oppression in America. I guess the DNA tests can stir up a lot of trouble for the unsuspecting. But we should remember that we are not just our DNA. We also are the result of the immediate environment we were raised in. There is nothing wrong with being proud of one's race, but one's personality and achievements should be more important.
race and ethnicity do not define us as people, but as your previous video about looking Asian discussed, cultures are erased or damaged by oppressive policies, racism, shame, and economic factors. It's important to be proud of marginalized identities so that we can survive and limit the damage imposed on us. You said you don't have the culture, language, and experience of an indigenous person. That's great to recognize since DNA is not a community or culture. But it is good to have clues especially when you don't know something in your family history. A lot of white people in the US want to be indigenous and if they get DNA results with anything nonwhite, they seem to celebrate. That seems ridiculous. One doesn't gain oppression or culture or community with DNA test (that only give statistical information not actual identification of one's race or ethnicity anyway). In any case, thanks for talking about your thinking on this issue. I enjoyed your earlier video about Asians in Latin America and Latin Americans in Asia. It's seems like a good way to inspire more people to get interested in reading or exploring more about it.
According to a Feb. 5, 2016 article in Scientific American, scientists argue that "race is a social construct without biological meaning." They suggest "phasing out racial terminology in the biological sciences" but acknowledge , "that using race as a political or social category to study racism, although filled with lots of challenges, remains necessary given our need to understand how structural inequities and discrimination produce health disparities between groups," according to Micheal Yudell, professor at Drexel University. All humans share one race. It's our ethnicity and culture that distinguish us. But the undeniable fact is that white or Caucasian has been held superior over black and brown people by the dominant groups for all or most of recorded history. I think you should be proud of your indigenous ethnicity. It does not follow that your pride means that you feel superior to other ethnic groups and cultures.
Race and culture are two separate things....it depends more on what culture(language + traditions)one identifies with rather than their genetic makeup.
is kind of funny when some african american still think today that the olmecs were from subharan africa origins .beacuse of a old head statue having thick lips . this same theory goes with this mexican girl .in the video .when some asian thinks she looks asian i dont see at all she is aboriginal to the americas most from mayan background not asian beacuase of bone structure is diffrent having a round face like she does doesnt mean is from asia jajaja.
I understand and I agree with you Karencita. It creates too much division to talk about race. In the US they “identify” as this or that. So strange. Very divisive. Very woke. I am a Mexican, that’s it. We Mexicans come in all colors and flavors. We are united about loving our culture.
yes, your race or ethnicity or skin color does not determine who you are as a person but it does determine how you get treated in society and the opportunities you get. like you said yourself, in mexico it does determine who gets opportunities thats why you see mostly white people on tv and ad on the street ect.... im from the u.s and most people that say things like ''we are one'' or '' im color blind'' are white people who do so as to turn a blind eye on how race or ethnicity or skin color determined and still determines how you get treated and opportunities you get. but saying race or skin color is not part of your identity is ridiculous and yes it would be nice if it was that easy but thats not how society works unfortunately
I think the ideology of race not defining who you are is correct as far as the ultimate goal is concerned. It’s just not where society is at the moment. You shouldn’t call it ridiculous to be forward thinking otherwise we will forever live in the past.
My thoughts are that as far as quality of a human being is concerned.... race, nationality, religion, political affiliation does not matter. In fact... although I love my family, my family name does not tell me who I am. What I really am has to do with my beliefs and my actions. I define myself by those things. That being said, I do think cultures are amazing and I think the loss of any one culture on earth is a loss for all of us. Every culture speaks to us about the nature of human beings as a species.
Thanks for your video. When I was told that I need to work in Mexico, I started to search everything of Mexico. And the first video is the video " why I am look like Asian." and then I watched your all videos like " what's the living cost in Mexico" . I learned a lot from your video. Now I have been Mexico for half a year and I have got used to the life here.
I watched your video a long time ago. I thought, "Not surprising! An indigenous looking Mexican senorita turns out to be a mostly indigenous Mesoamerican woman." Even the Asian part is explainable, since the current belief is that most of indigenous people of the Americas migrated to North America, from Siberia (Asia) tens of thousands of years ago (estimates just increased to at least 26,000 years ago!) over the Bering Land Bridge to North America and rather quickly, all the way to Chile! Others probably migrated, Siberia to America, along a coastal route by some sort of boats. (We are learning that very primitive humans were more sea worthy than we ever expected.) In some areas of West Mexico & Central America there are traces of Polynesian DNA indicating some ancient, primitive, people sailed across the Pacific to Mexico! Suggestions for you: 1. Get a test that tests your mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA.) This is past down only mother to child. You might be able to trace the area where your super-great grandmother came from. In your case, it might be a very specific location. 2. If you have at least one brother that you are sure is of the same father, test him for his Y chromosome DNA. The Y chromosome is only passed down father to son. Same thing, in your situation, you might be able to trace your super-great grandfather to a specific location. 3. If you want to go bonkers, see if there is a test that tests for Neanderthal DNA. Most Europeans have up to 4% or 5% Neanderthal DNA. People of Asian descent, less so. (Yes, Neanderthals as in primitive ancient pre-human people! It's been proved that modern humans & Neanderthals cross-bred!) 4. If you want to go bonkers-bonkers, see f you can find a test that will test for Denisovan DNA. In the last few decades, fossils were found in Denisovan cave in Siberia, that had DNA from an alternate version of primitive pre-humans that we know cross-bred with Neanderthals AND modern humans! (Fossils of a girl, now called "Deni," were found that were a 50-50 hybrid mix of Neanderthal & Denisovan! Yes, Mommy was one, Daddy was the other!) Since Deni was found, it's been learned that most people in Asia have up to 4% or 5% Denisovan DNA. As recently as 60,000 to 100,000 years ago, there were as many as eight humanoid species walking the planet. It's obvious that some of hem cross-bred with each other. If you care to learn more about human evolution, look up TH-cam channel, "History with Kayleigh."
I am my family's historian and genealogist, and I enjoy seeing others learn more about their ancestry. Your video was fascinating and your reaction to seeing your DNA results was delightful. I'm sorry that you got some of those comments. When the trolls come out, our rule is don't feed the trolls. If you feed them, they come back for more, so we ignore them. We have a small channel and it happens to us too. Ignore them - they get bored and find someone else to dig at. Racist people are insecure.
Karencita you take too much to heart. Don’t pay attention to everyone that says something poorly thought out and over analyze it. As a child in Ireland I found myself in a field of cows with my Dad and there was cow manure everywhere. And it smelled really bad. I told my Dad I didn’t like being there and he said, “Neither do I but there’s not a damned thing I can do about it!” The comments are the same, you can’t change them you just accept them and move on. Love your channel!
Karencita you are real. That's all that matters. You aren't your skin color. You are your heart. Americans have gone crazy over the edge. Don't fall for it. Stay lovely.

My husband is Mexican, of very mixed ancestry. I see a lot of racism in Mexico through him. He doesn't really notice it unless it's against him or someone he chooses to protect. He doesn't notice when he does it. On the one hand maybe it's good that Mexicans in Mexico don't think deeply on race/racism. The US is at a different point of development in this regard. I can't say if one is better. I think the biggest question is who is being hurt, and should we do anything to stop that hurt.

I was watching about archeology from another channel. People were asking questions like, "Were Ancient Egyptians Black?" (As in say Black-African or Black-American.) The correct answer is, "No. Because Black, as we know it today didn't exist 2,000 or 5,000 years ago. And the Ancient Egyptians were a unique racial/ethic group, that doesn't really exist anymore." The archeologist was asked why White or Light was so favored all over he world. She explained: It was all about sex & class. Women, especially elite women, and elite men worked indoors most of the time and didn't get browned by the sun. Men and lower class people and most slaves all worked outdoors where they got browned up by the sun. There are examples of Greek pottery, where women are shown as very pale, but men are shown as very dark, almost black. This is all people of the same race/ethnic group: just different sex & class. People all want to look like the elite class. And light women are often considered more beautiful.
There’s nothing wrong with people congratulating you on your ethnicity. But I agree that your ethnicity is not something very important in what defines you. It plays a part, but it’s not the most important part at all
Race is a loaded topic. Anthropology says there is only the human race. Race is a social construct seen differently in different societies. But there are ethnicities.
@@astrozoo it's complicated. Imagine a group of 30 people in a room with different skin colors and you did a gene study on all. Usually the closest matches based on genes would not correspond to same skin color at all. Yes people of course see skin color and put people into race categories based on that. So its a social construct not backed up if you go deeper.

On some issues we may have a difference of opinions, but we still seem to get along fine. Wouldn't the world be boring if we all were the same & we all believed in the same things. Its ok to be different. The world would be a better place if we would find common ground & come together on the things we have in common & not dwell on our differences. Colonization and assimilation is common among Latin American countries and these are the reasons why "being of indigenous descent" doesn't automatically mean someone is "indigenous". In order for you to be considered 'indigenous", you must know your specific indigenous tribe/ethnic group, should speak indigenous language, practice indigenous culture and be active in an indigenous community. if you don't meet any of those requirements, you are a product of colonization and assimilation where your early indigenous ancestors, for whatever reason (either forced or voluntary), stopped practicing indigenous culture and adopted Spanish influences. You still have the indigenous appearance but you don't have the indigenous cultural identity.
There is no other race in Latin America that is qualified in such a way based on culture or language. The reason for this is because the societies of these countries are Eurocentric, and if Native Americans were defined simply in terms of race and color the way White and Black people are, they would develop a racial consciousness and that would not be good for those in power.
I totally agree. It's the same with national pride. It makes no sense. Pride (if you can't resist it) should be reserved to personal accomplishment. i think the wow factor about having so much indigenous DNA, and people congradulating it, is because in so much of northern america, indeed much of the americas, the indigenous population was so utterly near-annihalated that it is simply a shock when you realize the population has managed to survive despite this profound decimation. i live in north america, new england to be specific, and when i meet a person of native american decent i almost fall over because it is incredibly rare despite the fact that they were the originial inhabitants of our country. the person you are meeting has somehow survived all the odds. it is Wow thing to many people.
Actually north america was much less populated. It was nearly all migrant tribes. This was not the case in mexican region.
@@ee.es00 that's not actually correct
That's unusual to say because of the Mohawk nations footprint in both the "new England" area extending into Canada. There are at least 100+ million high percentage Native people throughout the Americas. The United States is the home to many as well. All you have to do is search on TH-cam. Grub the Navajo Nation to the Amazon, incredible maybe TH-camrs are vlogging and producing content.
No indigenous population wasn't annihilated. You're ignorant of history
The numerous indigenous populations loved hunting and warfare and not doing real work - and refused to modernize - had a disdain for agriculture.

Excellent video and reflection 👏🏼 I agree it is strange for people to congratulate you and that DNA results don’t define who you are. Unfortunately we live in a world that sometimes treats people differently based on our skin complexion, how we dress or how we sound when we talk.
Grazie Julia! I agree wit you. It's so interesting the discovery of DNA, it brings a lot of information and advantages nowadays.

One note: "Molest" means something different in English than in Spanish. It refers to sexual abuse of children. "Molestar" is "bother".
It's funny to hear to ESL speakers from Latin America jokingly talk about how much they enjoy "molesting" each other 🤣
Molest means bother in English as well, but almost nobody uses it that way any more.

The bulk of the migrant peoples' ancestry, though, derived from a particular branch of East Asians that split from the modern Neo-East Asians at least 24,000 years ago, as well as from the West Eurasian-majority Ancient North Eurasians, who lived in much of Siberia before 15,000 years ago.
much later wave of genetically different Neo-Siberians about 5,000 years ago, also from Northeast Asia,
The first wave with Oceania DNA is not due to intermixed with Oceania in the middle ages. Instead it is due to paleo siberian still carrying traces of early human from Africa similar to that of melanesians. This had been a mystery for long time and people would theorize that south Americans were a result of Polynesians arriving in America.
To put it simply, south Americans and paleo amerindians are still more related to their cousins north amerindian and the inuit than any other group of people in the world
They’re not indians
@Hugo Sánchez how about 'paleo amerindigenous'?
So, I believe that we should be liked, respected, etc. by how we act and what we say. Who we are. DNA, ethnicity, as you stated, gives us background information from our past.
I love your accent!
How could it be bad ?
@@UncagedSavage I'm not sure, maybe I got her wrong, but she gave me the feeling that she was emphasizing the fact that we are the same race which is correct, that she shouldn't be proud of her roots, or there's no need to try to find some identify in our ancestry if after all we are the same race, which I agree to some degree, yet I would like to know about my roots, I just meant if that's wrong in her opinion
I have not taken any DNA test and I'm already ashamed of the results.

You are right. It is weird to congratulate someone for their ethnicity since it isn't something you have any control over.
We are all full human. Great video Karen.
Emblem of America1798 we are not black nor African not Asian or European.we are the American Indian

Another great video Karen.
Question: Do the Aztec pyramids align with the stars in much the same way that the Egyptian pyramids do?
Yes
race and ethnicity do not define us as people, but as your previous video about looking Asian discussed, cultures are erased or damaged by oppressive policies, racism, shame, and economic factors.
Thank you for sharing.
Love you Karencita❤️ 🇲🇽
No regrets. Ignore the haters.
Race and culture are two separate things....it depends more on what culture(language + traditions)one identifies with rather than their genetic makeup.
Well I'm mexican and I always said this chick is not special for being full Native because that's way more common in Mexico lol
is kind of funny when some african american still think today that the olmecs were from subharan africa origins .beacuse of a old head statue having thick lips . this same theory goes with this mexican girl .in the video .when some asian thinks she looks asian i dont see at all she is aboriginal to the americas most from mayan background not asian beacuase of bone structure is diffrent having a round face like she does doesnt mean is from asia jajaja.
I'm probably like your husband.Im irish,English,Scottish and Welsh. Most of my DNA is Irish
Where did you get your DNA resukts?
I understand and I agree with you Karencita. It creates too much division to talk about race. In the US they “identify” as this or that. So strange. Very divisive. Very woke. I am a Mexican, that’s it. We Mexicans come in all colors and flavors. We are united about loving our culture.
me esposa, nacia en Guangdong China. Me encantar la cultura de Asia.. Love yourself and others and the others will love you !!!!
Siiiiii
yes, your race or ethnicity or skin color does not determine who you are as a person but it does determine how you get treated in society and the opportunities you get. like you said yourself, in mexico it does determine who gets opportunities thats why you see mostly white people on tv and ad on the street ect.... im from the u.s and most people that say things like ''we are one'' or '' im color blind'' are white people who do so as to turn a blind eye on how race or ethnicity or skin color determined and still determines how you get treated and opportunities you get. but saying race or skin color is not part of your identity is ridiculous and yes it would be nice if it was that easy but thats not how society works unfortunately
I think the ideology of race not defining who you are is correct as far as the ultimate goal is concerned. It’s just not where society is at the moment. You shouldn’t call it ridiculous to be forward thinking otherwise we will forever live in the past.
DNA and ethinity is a big part of who we are. American's are obsessed with their ancestor DNA and use that to stake an ethnic identity.
Oh Woow! I'm flattered I have to say
@@LaKarencitaMX haha, Hope we can meet in Mexico one day
I watched your video a long time ago.
Suggestions for you:
It's been proved that modern humans & Neanderthals cross-bred!)

Karencita you take too much to heart. Don’t pay attention to everyone that says something poorly thought out and over analyze it. As a child in Ireland I found myself in a field of cows with my Dad and there was cow manure everywhere. And it smelled really bad.
What if your test results were wrong would that change you. A Native North American.

I have not taken any DNA test and I'm already ashamed of the results. Is OK to be ashamed?
It plays a part, but it’s not the most important part at all
One group has genocide others the most tho
Race is a loaded topic. Anthropology says there is only the human race. Race is a social construct seen differently in different societies. But there are ethnicities.
If we are all one race, why do people look different form each other. Why do Irish look different from Indonesians?
@@astrozoo it's complicated. Imagine a group of 30 people in a room with different skin colors and you did a gene study on all. Usually the closest matches based on genes would not correspond to same skin color at all. Yes people of course see skin color and put people into race categories based on that.
The late great George Carlin had some good points on the subject: "Proud to be American? What the fuck does that mean?" 😁 Check it out, it's hilarious.
