  • A record 110 tonnes of cocaine were seized in the Belgian port of Antwerp in 2022. The city is now the main gateway into Europe for the drug. Most of the cocaine comes from South America and is concealed in fruit shipments. Faced with this trafficking epidemic, Belgian authorities have recruited almost 100 extra customs officers and invested in new scanning equipment. The illegal trade has resulted in ballooning cocaine consumption in Antwerp and security problems beyond the region. Belgium's justice system is overwhelmed, with even the justice minister himself receiving kidnapping threats from suspected traffickers. Our correspondent reports.

Just think how much money will be saved/earned by legalizing and taxing pharmaceutical grade healthy drugs

There no such thing as a "healthy" drug, all forms of drugs are addictive and have side effects and detrimental effects in long term, you are clearly spreading false information, if you need "drugs" to cope with life, perhaps you should walk into local Communist Party and arm yourself, ready for revolution instead of being a waste of oxygen and resources.

Implement 5 days transit waiting time when transports arrives to the port.
It’s the only way to fight the criminal gangs.

Don't be blind, this is unstoppable, exactly the same happened in my country Ecuador, we are now part of the mafia cartel.
We as a world need a change in strategy to fight drugs. The sooner, the better.

Sending it to Rotterdamn was becoming too expensive, the chance of getting caught has increased. the risk of getting caught is < 2% in antwerp.
