- Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico was battling life-threatening wounds Wednesday after officials said he was shot multiple times in an assassination attempt condemned by European leaders. My friend was imprisoned in Slovakia some years ago. He was suffering a manic episode acting crazy, plus he didn't speak Slovak; I don't know the details. Eventually word got back to his friends and he was rescued by the Mexican Ambassador, he being Mexican. I believe he did speak some Slovak by the time he got out...

There's no Western democracy. There's just democracy and lesser forms of democracy, all the way to authoritarianism. These lesser forms use "Western" as an excuse not to adopt full democracy.
