I agree I have no idea how that aspect of it is not mention. slow rolling a chaterbait is only possible with jackhammer effectively, which is why I prefer it. Sure the cheaper works but anyway I'll leave at that.
i knew abiut this like in 97 bill dance and jimmy houston , both said to rough up ur tubes.i bever liked doin it cause the salt gets between ur fingers and i hate that and i never liked the look of them after..and the cutting craw flap trick same deal in Rowland Martin show.all thise guys were always tellin some nethods they had luck with.tight lines
As soon as that tube went on the shank of the bait, my mind immediately thought 🤔 I Have to try this with a Spinnerbait!!! Thanks for another wonderful tip👍
Thanks for showing how to rig it on the chatterbait!!!👊🏻 Your buddy Matt mentioned it in his tube video but didn't say how to rig it but you followed up!!!👍🏻 Team Work!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!!!
There are no secrets anymore. It's funny, I've tried the Decoy Zero-Dan Flash with a Yamamoto Fat Ika sorta on accident when I ran out of offset hooks when flipping laydowns. I got more bites with just the tube but it's good to know you're on the right track. What's next, Grubs as A-rig trailers? Drop-Shotting Flies?
I have been using the tube on my chatter baits and I have had some good success. Thanks for the video Randy. I didn't think about putting part of a worm inside the tube to hold it in place. Great idea. Thanks.
What's special about it is only the #2 decoy snap, 5/0 high carbon hook, double wire keeper, tied skirt, premium paint, stainless blade, and direct head connection. That said they don't catch any better for me than the O.C.B. they just look cooler when I open the box of them. 😆 Randy's old school jig is much the same. Super high end components but I'm adding a few to my box. I can all but guarantee they won't fail. Just my .02
Love chatterbaits and agree on the Jackhammer v Evo. I run Evos and the minis when it calls for it. Just smacked a smallmouth yesterday in very brown water conditions on a white ⅜ Evo with a pearl white trailer. So much flexibility on these lures in regards to how you can present them. If you don't fish them you should.
If you used the flipping tube by SK, would you still need to add the piece of worm to hold to the hook. I think the flipping tube has a solid head on it. I love tubes and chatter baits. Thank you
I been doing this exact same thing for years , on the original chatterbait , both with skirt and without and I use ear plugs instead of old worms Oddly enough I only do it in clear water and I fish it slow almost like a jig , I lift the tip fast to get blade going then let it drop
I like to use backer rod is fome and make it float for those powns that have to much grass. And on a Z-MAN flashback keeping it up high in the water. Nice video
My bro and I were fishIng a team tourney on the Cal Delta. A ski boat made a clockwise turn in a slough to turn around. We were traveling on the right side, but the skier decided to roost us anyways. Blood boiled and pleasantries were exchanged. Also, I could have caught a skier a spinnerbait once when he tried to roost me while I was fishing...but since I'm such a nice guy, I stopped the trajectory at the last second. A white spinnerbait with double willows:)
Great advice I’m definitely going to try that tomorrow on the water. but I will say the lake I moved to 2 years ago has proven the Jackhammer for me. I know it’s expensive but on this particular lake (yes I’ve experimented with them all) the Jackhammer shines. When the Chatterbait bite is “on” I get 3:1 jackhammer: any other (even custom made) they are expensive but effective
Randy, I've been watching a lot of your videos lately. I fully understand the threat technology presents to future fishing. I'm wondering, do you anticipate the average weekend fisherman will be using the high end technology? Or, are you concerned that competitive fisherman are removing quality breeder fish? Aren't these fish put back? I wonder what the survival rate is? Also, do you think changing possession limits to require larger fish be returned to the water and allowing the harvest of smaller ones could make a sustainable difference? I'm 79, and was raised next door to a very large fish hatchery. As a child, on summer evenings I used to sneak down to the ponds with a fishing pole. Possibly a little karma and some good parenting, led became an active conservationist later in life. Frankly, I'd like to see tournaments with much smaller motors and way less electronics. I don't see 300 hp motors or A.I. fishing guides adding anything to the sport or the fishery, but that's where the money is. Until BASS figures out how to handicap fishing competitions by awarding extra competitive points to the most sustainable fishing methods, such as wakeless and exhaust free electric motors, barbless hooks, restocking programs funded by the sport, and habitat restoration, the sport and the fishery will not be sustainable. Fishing and fishing venues have morphed into something that is unrecognizable from the simple adventures of my youth. I see that as sad and alarming. But then, the loss of 30% of all living species on earth as well as 60% of the forests is even more tragic. Unfortunately, our population centers shifted dramatically during the last century. The true stewards of the land were displaced. The majority of our population no longer experience nature as a teacher and an inspiring companion. As a result, they do not see our pristine heritage and home slipping away. Sorry, time to get off the soapbox.
Maybe it is because of my area but I have tried all sorts of chatterbaits and jackhammers just get more bites. It can also be that confidence bait but they work.
IMO the thing the jackhammer does better than the normal chatterbaits is off center hunting on rod twitches. Regular chatterbaits tend to stay largely on center but the jackhammer seems to hunt really hard when I give it a twitch and the fish go crazy over it. I get tons of hits right after I give it a twitch or two.
Randy if u don't wanna have to deal with having to put a worm in every time u put on a new tube. Just try some of the kietech tubes they are completely solid. An actually are meant to be rigged without a stupid tube jig but u can still get that stupid tube action because. The head of the bait is a little more denser then rest of body an causes it to glide back without any weights. An is extremely dense and heavy for its size due to it being completed solid and filled with tons of salt but I think will work well for this as well.
I watch Johnnys video. I love it because I used to use tubes on Lake Erie for smallmouth. That was the go to Bait. Just wondering Johnny had said something about pushing the tube over the head and I thought it had something to do with flipping. Or was it to go through weeds better just wondering I have to watch the video again Great stuff again thanks Randy
I could see that doing great in clear water on the willow vibe head z man sales. Thank you for sharing the secret! Definitely going to try.. is it decent in cold water?
I agree on the old school chatter bait. Only thing I see with the jackhammer is that it starts vibrating immediately. Which may or may not get that reaction bite.
I love all your videos and all your tips thanks for sharing your knowledge with us Randy it’s amazing how many tips that you have can you keep this going on for years?
Dang! For once in my life I’m ahead of something lol. Started doing this back in the spring. I’m always messing with different baits. This one actually works most don’t lol
I have a cool the old chatterbaits and some tubes and a nice stash of Zoom trick worms which are awesome!! I will have to rig this up and give it a try. One question please, I see that the jig head is green, do you think that painting it red would make a difference??? Thanks for sharing Randy!!
I have a few of the Jackhammers but I use the $6.00 one most of the time. and catch more fish I cannot justify spending $15-18.00 on the Jackhammer. I also use Zoom Super Flukes rigged without a skirt. Works great !!
i cut the treble hook of a size5 mepps comet and replace it with a link and a large single then use any medium sized soft plastic, it catches fish on days when everything else fails
My most productive blade just to date is still my booyah boogie bait, I think it was called, with the leverage hook that Chaturbate sure for sued so it was discontinued, although, IMHO, they fish completely differently as the boogie really tumors.
Hey randy what's your thoughts about fishermen getting there catalytic converters stolen.where I live on pickwick we have lots of theives. They got mine cost over 2000 to replace it
There is a lake in Idaho that has fantastic largemouth and trout fishing the water is crystal clear I mean see the bottom in twenty feet of water clear the chatterbait works great for me there I normally use a little swim bait trailer but I’ll have to give this a try
You can use the Crube from 6th sense and you won't have to insert the piece of worm into hollow part, the top of the Crube has solid plastic just enough for hook keepers.
There's a little difference in the original, jackhammer and thunder cricket. The original don't kick in as easy. Sometimes it just stops and I have to yank it to crank it back up. Jack hammer kicks in easier. Thunder cricket vibration seems a little more subtle to me. When the jack hammer slows down alot of the time I can swap over to the cricket and go on catching fish.
This is great i was trying this with a spinnerbait a couple months. And on the chatter brands, I've had more expensive blade baits go bad on me, quit vibrating or whatever then a og zman
Booyah used to make a bait called the booyah boogie bait. it was the best chatter ever made. I can't believe nobody ever picked up the design.. The hook had about an inch long flexible piece of wire poured into the jig head that was soldered to the hook. Night and day when pike fishing not throwing fish.
what about taking a full trick worm and putting it in there so you have a big tail coming out of the tube?? I'm gonna try it....might be the next big thing!!!
I've caught many fish on the good ol chatter bait + zoom lizard combo. I tried it as a joke and now I only fish chatter baits with a June bug zoom lizard
This old school baits reinvention thing is really good advice, thank you so much for the upload and best of wishes for you and your family.
I like the Jack hammer because it vibrates quicker in start up and while super slow rolling it! Also Tubes are phenomenal plastics!
I agree I have no idea how that aspect of it is not mention. slow rolling a chaterbait is only possible with jackhammer effectively, which is why I prefer it. Sure the cheaper works but anyway I'll leave at that.
I've tried both quite a bit. Jackhammer for me.. vibrating jigs catch quality fish!
You guys fish these in the winter?
@@mkodom88 not typically, there is a warm water lake nearby that I've had luck with them in the winter.
@@mkodom88 yes super slow!
Randy, the roughing up the bait is the best tip ever. I have never thought to do that ever. I was in the mind set touch bait as little as possible
i knew abiut this like in 97 bill dance and jimmy houston , both said to rough up ur tubes.i bever liked doin it cause the salt gets between ur fingers and i hate that and i never liked the look of them after..and the cutting craw flap trick same deal in Rowland Martin show.all thise guys were always tellin some nethods they had luck with.tight lines
Nice tip Randy! Yep, I saw it on Jonny‘s channel yesterday just like you mentioned and figured I would give it a shot soon. God bless!
As soon as that tube went on the shank of the bait, my mind immediately thought 🤔 I Have to try this with a Spinnerbait!!!
Thanks for another wonderful tip👍
I can honestly say I’ve never fished a tube like that , but I really like it , thanks mr Randy
Tube is a great skirt for a Buzzbait too
Great tip, Rabdy! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for showing how to rig it on the chatterbait!!!👊🏻 Your buddy Matt mentioned it in his tube video but didn't say how to rig it but you followed up!!!👍🏻 Team Work!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!!!
Most excellent. Thank you for sharing!
Great tip. Thanks Randy.
I’ve been fishing tubes as jig and chatterbait trailers for years for smallies in the great lakes. Killer bait.
Good stuff Randy Thanks......
Very interesting. Thanks Randy.
Finally I can use those tubes that I got in some of my subscription boxes. Thank you so much for this tip. Merry Christmas and Cheers!
I have been using the tube on my chatter baits and I have had some good success. Thanks for the video Randy. I didn't think about putting part of a worm inside the tube to hold it in place. Great idea. Thanks.
Great segment. Thank you!
Good idea. I usually just glued mine on, but I'll give it a go.
I have A LOT - CASE of old vintage tubes - I’ll give this a try- because I don’t like the chatter bait- lol. Great channel Randy.
Finally! Someone ADMITTING that there's nothing special about the jackhammer... I hit the thumbs up as soon as I heard you say that.
Just when I thought Ive seen it all. I'm speechless only seen a handful of videos from this channel and I learned something on everyone I watched
Love chatterbaits and agree on the Jackhammer v Evo.

Loving the hat Randy!!! Great tips in the "Tackle Room"😁
Never seen this combo before.... looks good...!!!
If you used the flipping tube by SK, would you still need to add the piece of worm to hold to the hook. I think the flipping tube has a solid head on it. I love tubes and chatter baits. Thank you
Try is and report back.
Nice, I’m gonna give it a shot! Thanks for the continued good tips! God is good! God bless!
I been doing this exact same thing for years , on the original chatterbait , both with skirt and without and I use ear plugs instead of old worms
Oddly enough I only do it in clear water and I fish it slow almost like a jig , I lift the tip fast to get blade going then let it drop
Will do! Tubes might also work with ‘scrounger’ type heads (?). Ever try those?
Great idea
I Really appreciate your Videos and Helpful tips!!!
Awesome tip & secret uncovered! It’s both of both worlds in one!
I watched this video this morning. Decided to go try it. Accidentally caught a 37” musky. 😅
I like to use backer rod is fome and make it float for those powns that have to much grass. And on a Z-MAN flashback keeping it up high in the water. Nice video

thanks, great idea - now I can repurpose a bunch of the plastics that I haven't used in a long time!

Good video!! I’ll be putting this tip to use. I’ve used tubes before,,, but didn’t insert the small piece of worm. Game Changer!!
Thanks, Randy
Freaking genius. Great video brother.
Really enjoy the pro tips looking forward to them into action! Also enjoy mental Monday! Thanks

Thanks Sir! I’m doing this! I used skirtless with a swim bait - very little love.
Thanks Randy......
cool modification! love the tube thanks man!
Haha ole Johnny let the cat out the bag!! I watched and can’t wait to try it!
I have been trying things like this for years trying show the fish something different. Wheeler and Guntersville lakes bass have seen everything.
I watch Johnnys video. I love it because I used to use tubes on Lake Erie for smallmouth. That was the go to Bait. Just wondering Johnny had said something about pushing the tube over the head and I thought it had something to do with flipping. Appreciate the video, I’m gonna try this trick this weekend! 👍🏻🇺🇸🎣
I could see that doing great in clear water on the willow vibe head z man sales. Thank you for sharing the secret! Definitely going to try.. is it decent in cold water?
You gave me a thought! I’m going to try a Venom “super do”. They’re more of a thin solid tube variation. 🤔
Thank you for sharing.
Do you need to remove the tube from the chatter bait at the end of the day to prevent the hook from rusting
I agree on the old school chatter bait. Only thing I see with the jackhammer is that it starts vibrating immediately. Which may or may not get that reaction bite.
thanks bro I like that tip.. I like tubes . But never was showed how to rig it.. This one won't cost me nothing because I have tubes and chatters...
Great methods shown in this video ty 👍
Good juice Randy! I love the chatterbait crosseyez. Has a nice weed guard and better skirt. $10. I’ll be trying this modification! 👍
Great info. Thank You!
I think this will be killer on Lake Cumberland here in Kentucky. It’ll be tied on my rod next trip. Thanks for the tip Randy!
Cool tip. Will keep in my back . Will stay with Jackhammer and Zako for now....
I love all your videos and all your tips thanks for sharing your knowledge with us Randy it’s amazing how many tips that you have can you keep this going on for years?

Definitely want to try this, do you only use a tube as a trailer on your chatterbaits without a skirt?
Yessir juicy for the winter bite!!!
I have a few of the Jackhammers but I use the $6.00 one most of the time. and catch more fish I cannot justify spending $15-18.00 on the Jackhammer. I also use Zoom Super Flukes rigged without a skirt. Works great !!

Randy bringing the juice!
I'm glad to see that you have a channel on fishing I've subscribed but I'm an old time fan so that'll Wagon Train...LOL
Great Tip!
My most productive blade just to date is still my booyah boogie bait, I think it was called, with the leverage hook that Chaturbate sure for sued so it was discontinued, although, IMHO, they fish completely differently as the boogie really tumors.

You know things are getting serious when Randolph puts on his glasses.
Do ever fish A Mepps Spinner, Blue fox Spinner, or a regular Spoon Lure for Smallies?
There's a little difference in the original, jackhammer and thunder cricket. The original don't kick in as easy. Sometimes it just stops and I have to yank it to crank it back up. Great idea to use up all my old packages of tubes hahahahaha
I’m gonna try this on my lake that has 20 foot plus visibility sometimes. Az fishing
I’d run this with the smallest size tube and Berkeley floating trout worm on the smallest 1/16th chatterbait and it’s a trout killer.
I watch every video how did I miss this one???? Great video Randy! Jonny is the technical wizard of bass fishing!
This is great i was trying this with a spinnerbait a couple months. And on the chatter brands, I've had more expensive blade baits go bad on me, quit vibrating or whatever then a og zman
What size tube do you recommend?
I'm new to bass fishing, do you have any advice for me

Looks good 👍 Gonna have to try this!
thats how i often rig them when the skirts get chewed off. I feel i get more bass when rigged that way.
what about taking a full trick worm and putting it in there so you have a big tail coming out of the tube?? I'm gonna try it....might be the next big thing!!!
Great winter bait
Caught three on CB’s with a split tail trailer☺️
Now that’s smallmouth candy great idea
That tube bait (Gitzit) was a really hot bait by itself 35 years ago..
I believe in the Jack Hammer because of the HOOK!
I've caught many fish on the good ol chatter bait + zoom lizard combo. I tried it as a joke and now I only fish chatter baits with a June bug zoom lizard
Keep everyone on Kentucky lake area in heart a lot of life lost in mayfeild
this channel is great
Jackhammer gets me the bigger bites. I’ll never turn my back on green pumpkin jackhammer, also love the stealth blade
